Abstract

Indonesia is the largest archipelagic country in the world consisting of 17,508 islands including 9,638 unnamed islands and 6,000 uninhabited islands. The population which increases every year showing the results that there is the migration of people from the large islands to the remote islands and one of the problems of this condition is the optimal electricity supply. Electricity on the island is commonly carried out by diesel engines, so it needed combining the power plant system that reduced the working-load of diesel engines. One of the power plants is a solar power plant which needed to support the government's National Energy Policy (NEP) program in renewable energy. The paper has done by assessing one of the remote islands in Indonesia by identifying the whole power plant system design. The total number of solar power plant capacity installed is 170 kWp and 3 x 240 kW diesel engine. In the Future plan, the project will be made of a Solar Power Plant system that is reliable as a smart grid system and also there is optimizing in the load design. The paper will also identify all possibilities technical aspect that could improve the system becomes a smart grid system in the future. Keywords: Microgrid, Smartgrid, Solar Power Plant, Renewable Energy

Abstract

Massive Multiple-input Multiple-output (Massive MIMO) system is one of the most potential candidates for the fifth-generation wireless communication. Massive-MIMO system employs a very large number of antennas which could easily reach more than a thousand antennas in the future. Instead of using an omni directional antenna which is a very popular base station antenna nowadays, massive-MIMO uses its large number of antennas to create multiple smaller beams which are transmitted directly into the intended receivers. In this paper, we develop a user-scheduling technique for Multi-user Massive-MIMO system called Fair-CDUS which is developed from charcoal distance-based user selection (CDUS) technique. Fair-CDUS aims to give more fairness to users in term of selection frequency and at the same time could maintain the total throughput performance. Some experimental scenarios with a different number of beams and a different number of receiving antenna are presented in this paper. We believe this proposed method could be a potential method to be used in Multi-user Massive-MIMO system. Keyword: Massive-MIMO, Multi-user, 5G, User Scheduling, Fairness

Abstract

Abstract— The transfer of goods from one place to another in the production process in a common industry we encounter using conveyors. Conveyors have replaced human labor used in moving production goods from one place to another in the industry. By using conveyors, the transfer time can be reduced and not dependent on humans anymore. Conveyor control can use a controller in the form of a PLC. PLC programming can use many methods, one of which is the cascade method. The beginning of the development of this method is widely used in pneumatic systems, but as time goes by this method is used in completing sequential systems. The ideal cascade method is used for sequential processes without an iterative process, the theory is easy to understand, the results are easy to implement. In this study the type of PLC used is CPM1 from OMRON. By using Cascade method, the result from construction of ladder diagram is obtained by 59 rung, 6 timer, 18 relay, and the program capacity is 3 KB.Keywords: Conveyor, PLC, Ladder diagram, Cascade method, relay group.

Abstract

The definition of economics dispatch (ED), that is how to get a minimum operating cost and still meeting existing constrain. Some methods to solve this problem, that is by using Firefly Algorithm (FA) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). In this research, FA and PSO method try applied to ED at PLTU Tanjung Jati B. the results show that PSO method produces a combination of generating power at a more economical and stable cost compared to the FA method. however, both are very well used in economic dispatch problems Keywords: Economic Dispatch, Firefly Algorithm (FA), PSO

Abstract

High electric field intensity in string isolators can trigger corona which results in premature aging of the insulator. One solution to overcome this problem is by installing the corona ring, the corona ring will uniform the electric field distribution of the insulator adjacent to the conductor. However, the dimensions and placement of the corona ring will affect the performance of the corona ring in distributing the electric field. therefore, this study will discuss the effect of dimensions and placement of the corona ring on the electric field distribution. Parameters observed were ring length, ring angle and height of corona ring. Simulation with the finite element method (FEM) is used to model the electric field distribution value for each parameter change. As a comparison, changes in corona ring parameters compared to the corona ring design are commonly used in 500 kv gantry substation in Indonesia. Keywords: Corona ring, Electric field distribution, Finite element method (FEM), Insulator string, Porcelain Insulator.

Abstract

In rural and isolated island, electric power on the island as an off-grid system is typically supplied by diesel generators (DGs) and Solar Power Plant. The paper proposes options to maximize PV penetration in the hybrid system with minimum modification to the existing system. Modified HOMER simulation modeling is used to mimic the behavior of hybrid PV-Diesel controller. Existing DGs configuration and current load profile shall be taken into account in these options. Abstract

The need for reliable wireless communication systems has become an issue of communication technology development in the modern era. Multi Carrier Direct Sequence Code Division Multiple Access (MC-DS-CDMA) communication system offers superiority in efficient use of frequency spectrum through multicarrier principle as well as good information security level through direct sequence principle. WARP (Wireless Open Access Research Platform) is one type of SDR (Software Defined Radio) technology that can be programmed to create a prototype wireless communication system, one for MC DS CDMA communication system. Implementation of MC DS CDMA communication system using WARP device aims to evaluate the performance of MC DS CDMA communication system and to know how many users are able to be served simultaneously at the time of downlink compared to SC DS CDMA. The measurement results showed that the performance of BER will increase along with the increase of distance between nodes. At a distance of 3 meters the BER performance for gain 20 is 0, whereas at a distance of 5 meters for the same gain the BER performance is 0.0011. BER performance is also inversely proportional to the level of transmit power, where the greater the level of transmit power, the smaller the BER performance. At a distance of 5 meters for the transmit power level 10 obtained BER value 0.0125 and for the level of transmit power 20 obtained value BER 0.0016. In addition, MC DS CDMA communication system is more suitable for multiuser communication than SC DS CDMA with proven BER curves that are still smooth linear for data transmission of 20 users. Abstract

Transformer which has full-load and used continuously will create heat on the core, so that oil insulation is required. The impact of gases in oil insulation to breakdown voltage has been not investigated yet. This research implied an information about the impact of gases in insulation oil to breakdown voltage. Multiple linear regression with 300 data was the method used in this research. Analysis had been conducted on each gas, all gases, three combinations of gasses, four combination gases without acetylene, and three combination gases without acetylene. The target of this research was to know the impact of gases in oil transformer to the value of breakdown voltage. The results showed that the gasses had impact of 0.325 on breakdown voltage classified as a slight impact for breakdown voltage. Keywords: DGA, BDV, Transformer Oil, Double Linear Regression

Abstract

The use of renewable energy sources as a power plant has become an alternative option to provide electrical energy sources in a health center in Timor Leste. In this study a standalone hybrid generator system design consisting of Photovoltaic (PV), Wind turbine generation system (WTGS) and battery as energy storage will be made. The PSO algorithm is used to design optimal generator and battery capacity to obtain economic value. Optimal results are obtained by taking into account the potential of wind and solar energy and loads. The application of hybrid generating systems with renewable energy sources has several problems that must be resolved. The energy generated by renewable energy power plants is intermittent. Then this system requires energy storage to achieve power balance. The simulation results in this study show how to get the optimal value by using PSO algoritm, to reach power balance with the optimal and economical design of generator and battery capacity. Keywords: Hybrid; PV; WTGS; Battery; Control, Optimal Sizing, PSO
