Abstract

With the rapid development of unmanned surface vehicle (USV), the development of hybrid electric vehicles on USV is a technology that has a very important role to overcome the problem of how long the vehicle can be used. In hybrid electric vehicles (HEV), the main components consist of generators, electric motors, and batteries. Modeling component is intended to design models that fit on unmanned surface vehicle and represent the state of USV with hybrid drivetrain. This paper focuses on modeling USV with hybrid drivetrain. This vehicle uses a series configuration so that the generator act as a power generating system. The power system on USV was chosen using hybrid sources of DC generator and lithium-ion battery pack. The optimal size of DC generator and battery pack are very important to ensure that USV can work for a long period of time. This paper describes the simple characteristics of a DC generator with a PI controller and gain-scheduling PI controller which is accurate in generating 380V output voltage according to the initial plan to be built. We also described the model of permanent magnet dc motor as a driver in USV and described simulation about 200Ah 36V lithium-ion batteries. The development of this model will be represented in MATLAB/Simulink.Keywords: hybrid drivetrain, hybrid electric vehicle, period of time, unmanned surface vehicle.

Abstract

Electrical ac power systems consist of generation systems, transmission and distribution networks. The large three phase industrial loads at various distribution and transmission voltages as well as single-phase residential and commercial loads are supplied by the networks. Nowadays, the power quality such as voltage sags/swell, transient interrupts and harmonic distortions in sinusoidal waveforms are concerned with most of the electrical loads. The power quality problems such as voltage sags, swells and harmonics are caused by the widespread using of power electronics devices in power system. In this paper, electrical voltage sags/swells of power quality problems are considered because this problem is one of the most severe disturbances to the industrial equipment of distribution system. Thus, mitigation of these voltages in distribution system is necessary. So, series connected power electronics based device such as Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) is chosen to compensate these voltage for mitigating quickly the voltage sag/swell in the system and restoring the load voltage to the nominal value. For case study, Myaungtagar industrial zone is chosen due to furnaces and large motor drives that cause the common problems such as voltage sag/swell in this system. In this paper, performance analysis of voltage sag/swell compensation of power distribution system with Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) under various fault conditions is carried out. The proposed configuration model uses MATLAB/SIMULINK and the performance of voltage compensation and restoration of load voltage to the nominal value with DVR under various fault conditions is verified by the simulation results. Keywords: dynamic voltage restorer, voltage compensation, voltage sag, voltageswell.

Abstract

The lack of a disaster information system nowadays has made it difficult to find out information in the disaster area. Making information systems in disaster areas is important to solve the problem of uneven distribution of aid provided at each barrack. Because the conditions of each barrack are different, a system is needed to determine the priority for selecting disaster. To be able to determine the recommendations for the selection of disaster barracks, this study uses the Fuzzy Simple Additive Weighting (Fuzzy SAW) method, uses fuzzy method to determine the input basis value to SAW [3]. With the implementation of the Fuzzy SAW method, the results of this study can provide recommendations for Badan Penangguangan Bencan Daerah (BPBD) of Malang to determine the priority of disaster barracks that can take precedence. Keywords: disasters, fuzzy, information systems, priorities, simple additive weighting.

Abstract

Damage to the electrical components will inevitably occur, it could be caused by several factors that influence it starting from inside and outside the system. 3 phase induction motor is the most commonly used in the industry, but often also has problems such as over current and over heat on the motor. The disturbance if left unchecked can cause fatal damage to the motor. therefore, a relay safety system has been made which utilizes a microcontroller controller to protect the 3 phase induction motors. This safety relay is designed differently than conventional safety relays used by industry in general, this safety relay is designed based on the microcontroller control and is accompanied by setting and resset facilities respectively to display on the LCD via Push Botton buttons. As such, 3 phase induction motors are protected from severe damage caused by interference with the mesh source. It is expected that by making this safety relay can reduce the value of damage to the 3 phase induction motor. Keywords: microcontroller, overcurrent, overheat, three phase induction motor.

Abstract

In Myanmar, as the main power generation is hydro power generation. the utility cannot supply sufficient power to customers during the dry season. Besides interruptions occur frequently due to aging system and lack of prospered protection. Therefore, reliability is an urgent issue in Myanmar. As a result of unbalance between generation and load, the distribution system is getting poor voltage profile, instability and high power losses in high load condition. According to network characteristics, the failure of a component always leads to consequence interruption in a radial distribution system.  Therefore, it is a must consideration to mitigate these challenges to enhance the system reliability. There are many techniques to solve the reliability problems such as reclosers, switching devices (manual and automated switches), system reconfiguration, feeder re-conducting and integration of distributed generation (DG). In this paper, system reliability assessment is evaluated in detail with the integration of the distributed generation such as PV-Diesel Hybrid System. The location of DG is chosen according to the expected energy not supply (EENS) and the voltage drop in proposed system. Next, the optimal sizing of DG is chosen depends on the penetration level of generator. Reliability indices can be evaluated depending on the failure rate(λ), repair time(r) and annual outage time(U) in Electrical Transient and Analysis Program (ETAP) software. The case study of this thesis is carried out in 33/11 kV network which is connected Kyatminton Substation, Kyaukse, Middle Myanmar. Keywords: distributed generation, distribution system, EENS, reliability, reliability indices.

Abstract

Transmission lines are an important part of a power system. Transmission lines have high power transmission capacity and they are prone to faults of larger magnitudes. Various faults occur in transmission lines. Therefore, protection relays are necessary to protect transmission lines. The purpose of protection system is to interrupt the faulty section from the healthy section because the fault currents may damage the electrical equipments. One of the protection relays is distance relay and it is mainly used in transmission line. Sometimes these relay are used for backup protection. Distance relays for determining the impedance need the voltage and current. Transmission lines are typically protected by distance protection relay. Distance relays are considered of high speed class and can provide transmission lines. Nowadays, numerical distance relays have been used instead of using electromechanical and static distance relays. The proposed model was verified under different tests such as single line to ground (L-G) fault, double line to ground (L-L-G) fault, line to line (L-L) fault and three phase (L-L-L) fault. SimPower System was used for modelling and simulation of distance relay, transmission lines and faults. The simulation results were obtained from MATLAB software shows the feasibility of analysis of transmission line protection with mho type distance relay for single line to ground fault, double line to ground fault, line to line fault and three phase fault at different location of transmission lines. The difficulties understanding on operation of distance relay can be cleared by using MATLAB/SIMULINK software. Keywords: distance relay, double line to ground (L-L-G), line to line fault (L-L), MATLAB/SIMULINK, single line to ground fault (L-G), three phase fault (L-L-L).

Abstract

The importance of socialization about alternative energy that can be used for daily needs, for example from the simplest such as lighting at home, although not permanent but is very useful in the event of a sudden power outage. The high price of electricity makes small communities have to think twice as much to regulate daily expenditure needs so as to encourage to find alternative energy that can produce electricity that is environmentally friendly. Seeing the large number of detergent products in Indonesia, it inspires to process the waste from laundry clothes or other objects and even the detergent water itself, because so far the used laundry waste is thrown away so that it can pollute the environment. The purpose of this study is to reduce the effect of environmental pollution due to used laundry waste which is used as an alternative energy source to turn on lighting lamps at home or even on the road. The method used in this research is a chemical or electrolysis reaction involving zinc and carbon as well as the content in detergent washing water. From several experiments conducted for 3 detergents with several parameters, namely the amount of mass and water volume of 120 ml. From the experiment the voltage is 1 volt with a current of 2 mA for detergent Rinso, for DAIA detergent the voltage is 0.7 and current is 0.56 mA, and the experiments tested on SOKLIN produce a voltage of 0.8 volt and a current of 1 mA. Whereas the testing which was carried out randomly with a volume of 1200 ml water produced a voltage of 0.547 v with a large current of 0.006 mA. This proves that detergent waste can be utilized as a renewable energy although it still requires further research but this can ease the burden on the community to pay for electricity from PLN and in the subsequent development independent power plants are built in each house so that the community can save on electricity. Keywords: alternative energy, detergent, electricity.
