Abstract

Indonesia is maritime country, inhabitant of Indonesia is fisherman large enough. Fishship makes up constribution widely, in general, Communication in the sea on a ship uses a satellite communication system, but the system requires a relatively large cost. For solving it, Vessel Messaging System (VmeS) is used as basis radio communication to send between ship terminal in the sea with gateway Vmes in the land, in addition with wide enough territorial water, it needs reliable keeping of maritime region of country. One of system at this time can be used to support all activities is Automatic Identification System (AIS). AIS is a system that can be used to help in tracking ship position which has used in all ports automatically to obeserve ship condition and to prevent crashing between ships. In this study a data format is suitable for VMeS will be designed so that the interchangeable process can be carried out to AIS so it can be read by AIS receivers intended for vessels below 30 GT (Gross Tonnage) using the AX.25 protocol. Keywords: AIS, AX:25, interchangeable, VMeS.

Abstract

Damage to the electrical components will inevitably occur, it could be caused by several factors that influence it starting from inside and outside the system. 3 phase induction motor is the most commonly used in the industry, but often also has problems such as over current and over heat on the motor. The disturbance if left unchecked can cause fatal damage to the motor. therefore, a relay safety system has been made which utilizes a microcontroller controller to protect the 3 phase induction motors. This safety relay is designed differently than conventional safety relays used by industry in general, this safety relay is designed based on the microcontroller control and is accompanied by setting and resset facilities respectively to display on the LCD via Push Botton buttons. As such, 3 phase induction motors are protected from severe damage caused by interference with the mesh source. It is expected that by making this safety relay can reduce the value of damage to the 3 phase induction motor. Keywords: microcontroller, overcurrent, overheat, three phase induction motor.

Abstract

The level of acid or base in water based on solution (pH) is a very important measure for living things because about 70% in the body consists of water. Most of the metabolism in the body requires a certain pH level. Having a rapid and accurate pH meter is very demanding, but most of the available pH meters take several minutes to measure the pH of the liquid. The measured water is mixed with fluorescent liquid and then excited with violet light at a wavelength of 405 nm. We have developed a pH meter based on optical fluorescent using pyranine extracted from yellow highlighter using isopropyl alcohol. The pH meter based on optical fluorescent have advantage compared to other methods in terms of measurement time. The intensity of the green fluorescent emitted from the liquid sample is then captured by the AS7262 spectral sensor. A pH sensing device has been developed, tested and verified to be able to measure pH from a range of 4 to 11 with an accuracy of 98.13%, a reading error value of ±0.13 and only takes less than 3 seconds to take measurements. Keywords: fluorescent, pH sensor, pyranine.

Abstract

In Myanmar, as the main power generation is hydro power generation. the utility cannot supply sufficient power to customers during the dry season. Besides interruptions occur frequently due to aging system and lack of prospered protection. Therefore, reliability is an urgent issue in Myanmar. As a result of unbalance between generation and load, the distribution system is getting poor voltage profile, instability and high power losses in high load condition. According to network characteristics, the failure of a component always leads to consequence interruption in a radial distribution system.  Therefore, it is a must consideration to mitigate these challenges to enhance the system reliability. There are many techniques to solve the reliability problems such as reclosers, switching devices (manual and automated switches), system reconfiguration, feeder re-conducting and integration of distributed generation (DG). In this paper, system reliability assessment is evaluated in detail with the integration of the distributed generation such as PV-Diesel Hybrid System. The location of DG is chosen according to the expected energy not supply (EENS) and the voltage drop in proposed system. Next, the optimal sizing of DG is chosen depends on the penetration level of generator. Reliability indices can be evaluated depending on the failure rate(λ), repair time(r) and annual outage time(U) in Electrical Transient and Analysis Program (ETAP) software. The case study of this thesis is carried out in 33/11 kV network which is connected Kyatminton Substation, Kyaukse, Middle Myanmar. Keywords: distributed generation, distribution system, EENS, reliability, reliability indices.

Abstract

The switched reluctance motor gains a significant response in industries in the past decade because of its ruggedness, high torque to inertia ratio, simple structure, high reliability and inexpensive manufacturing capability. These features make it a suitable candidate for various applications and electric drives. However, In the field of electric drives a switched reluctance motor drive is having doubly salient structure thus it inherently produces high torque ripples and acoustic noise problems and its controlling difficulties that is an undesirable effect for vehicle applications, especially at low speed. The main objective of this paper is to minimize the torque ripples and to control its speed. In this paper a fuzzy logic controller based direct torque control method is used for speed controlling and for controlling of torque ripples of the 8/6 SRM drive. It’s modelling and application of fuzzy logic controller based direct torque control method is done in MATLAB/SIMULINK environment. Keywords: acoustic noise, direct torque control, fuzzy logic controller, ripple control, switched reluctance motor, torque ripples.

Abstract

This paper deals with ferroresonance detection on an transmission line utilizing wavelet transform. The ferroresonance involving linear capacitor and non-linear inductor was triggered by the disturbances of power system, such as lightning strike, switching operation and ground fault. The primary voltage of capacitive voltage divider (CVT) was observed as response of the triggered ferroresonance. The voltage signal was processed using wavelet daubechies (db5) until 9 levels. The cyclic cumulative energy for each condition was then calculated and compared. The result shows that the cyclic cumulative energy ratio and duration of period of cumulative energy deviation can be used as ferroresonance detection parameters. Keywords: ferroresonance; capacitive voltage divider, wavelet transform

Abstract

The need for reliable wireless communication systems has become an issue of communication technology development in the modern era. Multi Carrier Direct Sequence Code Division Multiple Access (MC-DS-CDMA) communication system offers superiority in efficient use of frequency spectrum through multicarrier principle as well as good information security level through direct sequence principle. WARP (Wireless Open Access Research Platform) is one type of SDR (Software Defined Radio) technology that can be programmed to create a prototype wireless communication system, one for MC DS CDMA communication system. Implementation of MC DS CDMA communication system using WARP device aims to evaluate the performance of MC DS CDMA communication system and to know how many users are able to be served simultaneously at the time of downlink compared to SC DS CDMA. The measurement results showed that the performance of BER will increase along with the increase of distance between nodes. At a distance of 3 meters the BER performance for gain 20 is 0, whereas at a distance of 5 meters for the same gain the BER performance is 0.0011. BER performance is also inversely proportional to the level of transmit power, where the greater the level of transmit power, the smaller the BER performance. At a distance of 5 meters for the transmit power level 10 obtained BER value 0.0125 and for the level of transmit power 20 obtained value BER 0.0016. In addition, MC DS CDMA communication system is more suitable for multiuser communication than SC DS CDMA with proven BER curves that are still smooth linear for data transmission of 20 users. BER performance is also the same linear down to the increase of transmit power value and Eb/No. Keywords: BER, MC DS CDMA, WARP
