AL-FALAH: Journal of Islamic Economics is scientific journal of Islamic Economics based on both conceptual and empirical research. It concerns to extensively publish the issues of islamic economics which study through interdiscipline perspectives such as fiqh, shariah finance, islamic bank, islamic development economics, and also economic sociology. The journal is published by Curup State Institute for Islamic Studies (IAIN), Bengkulu, Indonesia. Published twice in a year, on June and December, the journal of Al-Falah is projected as a media, sphere, and dessemination of scholars studies on islamic economics issues. Therefore, Al-Falah invites all of participants, scholars, researchers, and Muslim economists to submit their best-papers, and publish it in Al-Falah: Journal of Islamic Economics.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of corporate governance and sharia compliance on firm value at the time of initial public offering at Indonesia Stock Exchange. To measure the quality of corporate governance an index is developed based on regulations issued by Financial Service Authority (OJK) and Indonesia Stock Exchange as guidelines. The data used in this study are obtained from prospectus of companies that conducted initial public offering at Indonesia Stock Exchange within period of 2013 to 2016. Using purposive sampling method, 56 companies obtained to be used as research sample and then multiple linear regression is used to test the hypothesis. The result show that there is a positive and significant effect of corporate governance on firm value, indicating that companies with better corporate governance have higher valuation at the time of IPO, while the sharia compliance is not associated with firm value.

Abstract

Islamic economics is difference with the positivism economics and others. It is a established-concessus among Muslim-economists. Albeit some scholars are still sceptical toward Islamic economics as a complete-science. To respond this assumption, various Islamic scholars who are concern in formulating the epistemology of Islamic Economics. Turast written by classical muslim scholars studied intensively. And also Masudul Alam Choudhury who have intensively research the epistemology of Islamic economics with uniqueness form of epistemology—named by the phenomenology of Islamic economics. This paper examine radically the essensy of Masudul Alam Choudhury. It is to identify the construction of Islamic economics metodology offered by Choudhury. Abstract

Purpose:. The objective of the research are; 1) identifying the aspect of cooperative in the Padang Panjang in order to developthe syariah cooperative 2) identifying the external factor (opportunity and treat) and internal factor (strength and weakness) in developing the Syariah Cooperative in Padang Panjang 3) arrange theprecisealternative strategy in developingSyariah cooperative in Padang Panjang.Design/Method/Approach : The method of primer and secondary data collection were library studies, field observation, questionnaire, and interview. Technique and the tabulation of the data used descriptive analysis, both normatively (according to Syariah rules and state rules), qualitative (describe the profile, explain the EFE, IFE, IE, TOWS, QSPM matrixes) and quantitative (doing the tabulation of calculation on the weighting calculation on EFE, IFE, and IE).Findings:  After grouping of strategy by using the I-E matrix, the result of Syariah cooperative developmenton Padang Panjang is gotten which is on the position of Growth strategy, the strategy which is arranged to reach thecondition of capital asset growing, assets, and distribution of cooperative financing. From the matrixes of TOWS and QSP are gotten strategy which are suggested; open the business unit, office to every cooperative, increasing the services quality, supervision and optimize theknowledge enrichment to all of members and management in the Syariah cooperative field.Originality/Values: Syariah cooperative has important roles in increasing the society welfare. However the number and existence of syariah cooperative is still limited.The strategy which will be used to develop the syariah cooperative is necessary.

Abstract

Consumption behavior that shown by the community during the harvest season has not aroused awareness of sharia banks to implement special marketing strategies in response to the phenomenon. This research is a field research with qualitative approach. The location of this research is in DusunSawah,North Curup District, RejangLebongRegency with the consideration of the number of people who work as farmers and the extent of agricultural land and plantations. The results showed that the consumption behavior of farmers in DusunSawah is consumptive during the harvest season. Consumptive behavior is influenced by three dominant factors, namely cultural factors, social factors, and personal factors. Therefore, the preference of marketing strategies that can be applied by sharia banks in response to consumptive behavior of farmer society ofDusun Sawah in harvest season is concentrated marketing strategy with the concept of event marketing and coffee break marketing.

Abstract

Purposes: The article aims to describe in compartive view of how the shariah bank faces the global financial crises. Both effinciency and productivity is selected as main variabel to understand the main issues.Design/Methodology/Approach: Quantitative with explonatory design, namely DEA, is applied in this research. In practise, various hyphoteses was tested through empirical data.Findings: It can be proved that, there are significance different in effienciency and productivity of shariah bank before and after global crises of finance. To sum up, efficiency of shariah bank decrease extremely after crises. But, conversely, their productivity indicate an increasing in various indicators. In general, in both efficiency and productivity of shariah bank shown a rebalancing in two aspects. With level 99,23% point. Originality/Value: This study contribute new information for that crises can effect significantly to efficiency and productivity of financial industries such as shariah bank.

Abstract

This study are to investigate the influence of cultural factors, social factors, personal factors and psychological factors on purchase decision in Alfa MartCurup. Analysis using multiple linear regression, F test, t test, test the coefficient of determination (R2). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that all variables figures obtained positive coefficient. The test results (F) indicates that the variable personal factors, social factor, cultural factors, psychological factor, and price factors together influence the purchasing decisions in Alfa Mart Curup. T test results showed that the variables of individual factors and psychological factors significantly influence purchasing decisions while variable cultural factors and social factors do not significantly influence the purchasing decision. To test the R2 (coefficient of determination) indicates that the variable cultural factors, social factors, personal factors and psychological factors were able to explain the variability of the variable of 21.7%. While the remaining 78.3% is explained by other variables outside the model. Abstract

Purpose: This article discusses about the other side of al-Farabi, an Islamic economic thinker. With the aim that an open paradigm of thinking new in seeing al-Farabi, not only political experts and famous philosophers, but also as a reliable Islamic economic thinker.Design/Method/Approach: This article uses library-based qualitative research (qualitative research) with a qualitative descriptive approach and technical descriptive analysis and content analysis.Finding: This study was able to identify that al-Farabi was truly an Islamic economic thinker. Al-Farabi's Islamic economic thinking can be seen in his works such as the Book of Ara 'Ahl al-Madinah al-Fadilah, Kitab al-Siyasat al-Madaniyah and the Tahsil al-Sa'adah Book. Al-Farabi was one of the economic thinkers who emphasized his economic thinking on the concept of man as homo Islamicus who had an advantage in the field of reason compared to other beings (al-hayawan al-nathiq) where one of his goals was to become a perfect society (al- kalimah) and happy by doing noble actions, virtues and virtues. However, in its journey, the existence of the community formed a state that was in the form of a main state (al-Madinah al-Fadilah), a foolish state (al-madinah al-Jahilah), a fasiq state (al-madinah al-Fasiqah), a perverse country (al -madinah al-Dhallah), and a changing state (al-madinah al-Mutabaddilah). The ideal country that can manifest human happiness is the main country (al-Madinah al-Fadilah).Originality/Novelty: This research contributes to filling the 'emptiness' of Islamic economic theory, which comes from Al-Farabi's thoughts and works. This study did not become a 'copy' which informed the other side of Al-Farabi as a philosopher. But he also offers economic thinking, especially in relation to the human concept and welfare state.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of psychographic factors that include activity, interest and opinion, as well as the religiosity factor to the decision to transact at the BNI Syariah Makassar. This type of research is quantitative research with correlational approach. The data used are primary data through direct questionnaire distribution, using non probability sampling and accidental sampling technique, totaling 56 samples. The respondents of this research are customers who use BNI Syariah products, then the analysis technique used is multiple regression. The result of this study indicates that the variables of activity, interest, opinion, and religiosity simultaneously affect the decision to transact at BNI Syariah Makassar. Partially, this research indicates that the variable of activity, opinion, and religiosity have an effect on the transaction decision, while the interest variable has no effect to the transaction decision at BNI Syariah Makassar. The implication of this research is that transaction activity in syariah bank has become activity which often done by society because the products owned by BNI Syariah Makassar bank have been able to support the society activity. The Society opinion on BNI Syariah bank is also positive, and the existence of BNI Syariah bank has become a solution for people who have high level of religiosity. To evaluate the issue of the society interest, BNI Syariah Makassar Bank should maximize the Information and Promotion media to attract the public interest.

Abstract

Purpose: Madura is an island located in East Java which has a community with a high level of religiosity. Sumenep is one of the districts in Madura which has the largest population level among other districts in Madura. However, this is not in line with public compliance in paying zakat maal. Therefore, this study aims to find out whether religiosity, literacy, income, and tax obligation have an effect on community compliance to pay zakat maal.Design/Method/Approach: The data obtained in this study uses primary data obtained from people who pay taxes, using purposive sampling technique by determining people who have reached nisab, and for the analysis, it uses multiple regression.Findings: it shows that only religiosity and tax payment obligations which have an influence, while literacy and income do not have an effect on compliance to pay zakat maal. The implication of this research is as an evaluation for the local government to socialize the important role of the impact of zakat maal on the community, and to increase public understanding of the obligation to pay zakat maal.Originality/Novelty: Lots ofresearchesexamine the obligation to pay zakat fitrah but it is very rare to find research on zakat maal which is an obligation that must also be paid by someone who has assets that have reached Nisab (the minimum amount that a Muslim must have before being obliged to zakat).

Abstract

Wealth according to the Qur'an: Distribution of current income is a very important thing. If the income distribution is not appropriate to do, then most of the income and resources would be controlled by the capitalist monopolies, resulting in many people remain in poverty despite the country having abundant resources. On these basic considerations can be affirmed that the welfare and prosperity of the people depend on the way how it should be equitable distribution system could be implemented. Islam as a source of value to combine economic development with the religious sector. The activities of distribution of goods and services and income, shall use a value judgment mechanistic determinism of Islam and not the other economic systems such as capitalism and socialism. Separation of positive and normative values lead to human economic activity economic destructive animal. The economic crisis that hit the Indonesian economy is the impact of the application of the system of political, legal, social system, education and the economy are not in accordance with value, impact on damage to ecosystems, forests, water pollution and the environment, and the process of structural poverty.
