Abstract

Background of this study is on how the right plantation management practices become the absolute provision to gain eminent yield. Thus the company must evaluates the application on the technical culture of mature plant in order to know how big is the value and influence of the technical culture application so that the company can attain the optimum production. Therefore this study aims to identify and calculate the application rate of cultivation technique factors that have been applied by the company itself also to calculate the loss rate from misapplication of cultivation techniques that have been affected oil palm production based on the cultivation technical manual and estimated loss value incurred by PPKS Medan and identify the efforts made by the company to control pests and diseases (HPT) also the development of oil palm pollinating insects (SPKS). The method used in this study was field observation method, and descriptive statistical analysis (tabulation). There were some indicators that used in field observation in this study, they are imperfect pollination in fruit development phase, oil extraction rendement (OER) and kernel extraction rendement (KER), harvesting technique and discipline on collecting loose fruits, harvesting unripe fruits, harvesting rotation >15 days, crop damage due to rat pests. The result showed that the technical culture application rate has different value in each indicator, based on the highest error rate the first was harvesting rotation > 15 days (52,75 %), second was imperfect pollination (7,05 %), third was harvesting technique and discipline on collecting loose fruits (7%), forth was crop damage due to rat pests (4,3%) and the last was harvesting unripe fruit (3,4%). The different value in application rate could be influenced by inadequate human resources, lack in controlling, facilities and infrastructure availability (like pollinating insect box, harvesting tools and good transportation access)

Abstract

Harvesting process is very important on determining the quality of CPO produced so that it can increase revenue or reciprocity toward company's development. This encourages researcher to analyze what factors influence the productivity of oil palm harvesters. This study used sample of 20 people. Sample was determined by using Non Probability Sampling technique with census method or saturated sample which used all the population as sample because the population was less than 30 people. The data were collected by questioner and interviewing the chosen respondents. Variables in this study were age (X1), education (X2), work tenure (X3), number of dependents (X4) and the dependent variable was employee's work productivity (Y). The Data ws analyzed by using multiple linear regression with effective contribution test and coefficient of determination test. The result showed that age and education factors had positive affect toward employee's work productivity. Beside of that, work tenure and number of dependents had negative effect on employee's work productivity and the most dominant contribution among the four factors was the number of dependents. In addition, the value of R square or the coefficient of determination showed that factors of age, education, years of service and the number of dependents together affected work productivity by 41.7% and the remaining 58.3% were influenced by other factors outside the study.

Abstract

Harvesting is important thing for oil palm company, because of that the company needs skilled harvesting employee. In order to achieve the company's goal thus the company needs to encourage employee by providing harvest premium to escalate employee's motivation. Therefore, this study aims to look for the correlation of giving harvest premium toward employee's work motivation. This study used quantitative description method with questioner and interview as method of collecting data. The subject of this study was 30 married harvesting employees. Based on the calculation result, researcher obtained the value of coefficient of correlation by 0,334 which mean the value of correlation (r) was between 0,20-0,399 which mean there was a weak correlation between premium variable (X) and motivation (Y). And the level of significance by 0,074 which was higher than the significance level of 0,05 thus could be concluded that provision of the harvest premium had a weak correlation toward employee work motivation and harvest premium had no significant effect on work motivation allegedly because the lack of fresh fruit bunches that ready to harvest in the field, field conditions and harvester productivity.

Abstract

Reclamation of former mines hereinafter referred to as reclamation is an attempt to repair or reclaim land and vegetation in degraded forest areas as a result of mining and energy business activities in order to function optimally according to With the designation (Permenhut number: 146-Kpts-II-1999). Revegetation is a former mine. This activity is intended to restore, maintain and improve the functions of forests and land so that the carrying capacity, productivity, and role in supporting the life buffer system is maintained (anonymous, 2004). The objectives of the study are to know the height and diameter growth of the Sengon (Paraserianthes falcataria), Sengon Buto (Enterolobium cyclocarpum), Johar (Cassea Siamea) and Trembesi (Samanea Saman) in flat areas and Area of the slope on a former mine and to find out if there is any difference in growth in both conditions of the area. This research was conducted in PT. Khotai Makmur Insan Abadi (KMIA) in Separi village of Tenggarong Seberang district from Kutai Kartanegara Regency for 3 months which is from October to December 2018 conducted in two conditions with the creation of plots namely on a flat area and slope area with a size of 20x20 m each two pieces plot. The research plots are placed intentionally (purposive) to be able to represent the desired location. The measurement of the diameter using phiband and height using the Clinometer is done on the tree that goes inside the plot. The measurement results are processed using simple statistics and to know the difference in the growth used t-test . Based on the results of observation, collection and processing of data, it can be concluded that the plant growth of Sengon (Paraserianthes falcataria), Sengon Buto (Enterolobium cyclocarpum), Johar (Cassea siamea) and Trembesi (Samanea saman) that 3 years old on former land of PT. Khotai Makmur Insan Abadi (KMIA) in Separi village Tenggarong Seberang district the Regency of Kutai Kertanegara relatively equal. Then based on the results of the t-test is obtained there is no difference in plant growth between the slope area and in the flat area. The advice that can be given from this research is the need to be diversified planting distances to get the closure of the ideal vegetation.

Abstract

One of the goals of agricultural development is to increase the welfare of farmers, but in fact, there are still many farmers who are not economically prosperous. Increasing the welfare of farmers can be achieved through the success of farming. The achievement of maximum profit is one indicator of the success of the farming business. Batuah Village, which is located in Loa Janan District, is one of the largest producing areas in East Kalimantan. So far, it is not known whether the pepper farming in Batuah Village has reached its maximum profit. This is what encourages researchers to analyze the maximum profit of pepper farming in Batuah Village. The purpose of this study is to determine how much maximum profit that can be received by farmers based on the total costs that have been incurred. Data obtained through interviews with respondents using a questionnaire. The data obtained were then analyzed using multiple linear regression methods. The results showed that the maximum profit that the Berkah Mandiri farmer group could get in Batuah Village was Rp. 9,183,253 / ha achieved at a production rate of 560 kg / ha. So far, farmers have not reached the maximum production and maximum profit because the average farmer's production is 517 kg / ha and the average farmer's profit is Rp. 7,548,229 / ha. Therefore, to achieve maximum profit, pepper farmers in the Berkah Mandiri farmer groups need to increase their productivity.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the difficulty in determining the optimal number of human resources required. To be able to calculate HR requirements accurately, a device called a Workload Analysis (ABK) is needed. This study aims to analyze the operator's job description, an overview of the use of operator working time, and workload and needs. The method used is job description analysis, calculation of productive work time usage with work sampling method, and workload analysis using Full Time Equivalent (FTE) method based on work unit activity. The results of the workload analysis show that there are job descriptions that have not been listed in the written description of the company and there are still stations that have a written job description that does not match the work in the field. The percentage of productive working time for operators is between 42% and 77%, all of which are still low because they are below the standards set by the company, which is 85%. Calculation of the workload of the process part operator, obtained an FTE figure of 7.6 which means the optimal number of operators required by the process section is 8 people. This number is in accordance with the actual number in the process section, namely 8 people.
