Abstract

Friction welding is a metal joining technique without melting beforehand in which the process is to combine the rotation rate in one of the work materials. In the previous studies, the forging pressure parameters used for friction welding did not have a definite reference to the strength of the joint in friction welding. This project is to make initial design of forging measuring instrument for application of friction welding. The steps include conceptual design, embodiment process, and performance analysis. The conceptual design result includes hollow iron U-shape, telescopic iron, and telescopic iron with screw. The measuring system uses a 500 kg load cell, Arduino Leonardo, HX711amplifier, and data logger. Then, after all components are assembled, the load cell calibration is performed to determine the calibration factor. The next stage is to do pressure test to see the performance of forging measuring instrument of friction welding.

Abstract

Data on the rainfall is compelling to study as it becomes one of the major factors affecting the weather in a certain region and various aspects of life as well. Generally, predicting rainfall is performed by analyzing data in the past in certain methods. Rainfall is prone to follow repeated pattern in sequence of time. The utilization of big data mining is expected to result in any valuable information that used to be unrevealed in the big data store. Some methods used in data mining are Apriori Algorithm and Improved Apriori Algorithm. Improved Apriori itself is to represent the database in the form of matrix to describe its relation in the database. Data used in this research is the rainfall factor in 2016 in Tanjungpinang city. Based on the test of Improved Apriori Algorithm, it was found out that the relation of the rainfall and weather factors utilizing 2 item sets, that is, if the temperature is low (24,0 - 26,0), the humidity is high (85 - 100), then the rainfall is mild. If the temperature is low (24,0 - 26,0), the light intensity is low (0 – 3), then the rainfall is heavy, and 3 item sets if the temperature is low (24,0 - 26,0), the humidity is high (85 - 100), the sun light intensity is low (0-3), then the rainfall is medium.

Abstract

Hydroxyapatite is bioceramics which have conducive biocompatible property and have been widely used in bone scaffolds. Although they have potential development, there have not been any matematical model that elaborates the relation between the parameter of synthetic conditons and the mechanical properties of hydroxyapatite. That is why, this article tries to present the relation model between the hardness of hydroxyapatite based on variety of synthetic conditions and sintering temperature, relative density, and the size of particle as well. Developing hardness model is performed on the basis of its relation with the responses from each experiment factor. Validating model which was carried out through comparison between the model and the data of experiments indicates that the model proposed has a good accuracy and capable for explaining the bond between the parameter of synthetic and the hardness of hydroxyapatite.

Abstract

Jambi is one of the provinces in Indonesia that has an abundance coal potential. One of the companies that holds the Mining-Business License (IUP) for Coal mining production and operations is PT. XYZ, which is chosen to be the source of samples for this research. One of the negative impacts caused by coal mining activities is the wastewater emerge from both mining and stockpile activities. Unprocessed wastewater can pollute the environment, particularly the surface water and ground water around the mining site. Materials utilized in managing coal mine wastewater in this research are bentonite (natural and activated) and limestone from clamshells. Bentonite is expected to be able to absorb TSS, Fe, Mn and Hg values, while clamshells to increase the pH value in coal mine wastewater. This research aims to determine the ability of clamshell bentonite and limestone in processing coal mine wastewater. The samples in this research are amounted to 19 consisting of 1 control sample and 18 treatment samples. The treatments are made in 6 mass variations and 3 variations of contact time. A combination of 1 gram of material is contacted with 250 ml of coal mine wastewater. The characteristics of coal mine wastewater from PT. XYZ based on the samples taken are as follows: pH 4,40, TSS 66 mg/l, Fe 0,998 mg/l, Mn 7,340 mg/l, dan Hg 0,00076 mg/l. The results of this research show that the compilation of bentonite and limestone from clamshells is able to reduce the parameters of coal mine wastewater. The absorption efficiency of the compilation of bentonite and limestone in decreasing the parameters of coal mine wastewater has varied values with the average of: pH 68,62%, TSS 90,91%, Fe 97,60%, Mn 26,71%, and Hg 96,05%. Mass variations and contact time influence the decrease in coal mine wastewater parameters. The treatment on variations of 0.75 grams of activated clamshell bentonite and 0.25 grams of clamshell limestone with 30 minutes contact time is the treatment that produces wastewater that meets the environmental quality standards, which are pH 7,16 from 6 – 9 of environmental quality standards value, TSS 6 mg/l from 400 mg/l of environmental quality standards value, Fe < 0,02 mg/l from 7 mg/l of environmental quality standards value, and Hg < 0,00003 mg/l from 0,002 mg/l of environmental quality standards value. With good management, it is expected that the impacts caused by waste water from coal mining can be minimized in order to achieve environmentally friendly mining activities

Abstract

An unsignalized intersection is a part of a road where currents from different directions or directions meet. There was a conflict between currents from theopposite direction and intersecting each other, resulting in congestion along the arms of the intersection. Likewise, at the intersection of four arms without a signal at Sibuhuan Market, Padang Lawas Regency, North Sumatra, there is a congestion caused by the reduction in the effective width of the road due to parking on the road. At the intersection of four arms without a signal at Sibuhuan Market, Padang Lawas Regency, North Sumatra, there is a congestion caused by side obstacles, a high vehicle population that is not matched by the availability of adequate infrastructure so this research aims to analyze the performance of the four-arm intersection without a signal. based on Indonesian Highway Capacity Manual (MKJI 1997) and analyzes them to improve the performance of these unsignalized intersections. The analysis of the results showed that the intersection performance for the unsigned intersection conditions in the existing condition with the parking on the side of the road which reduced the effective width, the maximum total flow was 2341 pcu / hour, capacity (C) = 2707.06 pcu / hour, and the degree of saturation (DS) = 0.86, intersection delay (D) = 14.62 seconds / pcu and queuing opportunity (QP) 30.03 - 59.32%. Therefore, it is necessary to recalculate with various alternatives so that the DS value meets the requirements of the Indonesian Highway Capacity Manual, which is < 0.75.
