Abstract

Nowadays, in our country, many several issues have come up to the public such as violence, sexual crime, corruption, vandalism, mass fight, juvenile delinquency, economic and politic problems, and so on. The government needs to overcome them in order to create a better condition of life. There are so many ways to do which can reduce these problem. One of them is through education. Education is considered as an alternative way to overcome, at least, to reduce these issues. Definitely, it should be begun from the early education. Young learners are the best age to be given a good education in line with their ages. It is through musical cultural mini-drama. They will learn easily on English speaking through this strategy. Besides improving their speaking skill, it will make shape their good character through the values of the songs. The research used descriptive qualitative and quantitative design by using SPSS. The object this research were seventeen students of Elementary School in Semarang. The assessment instrument used speaking rubric/table score, progress checking form, and behavior development checklist. The results were (1) CMMD could be implemented by using the steps of preparation, implementation, and assessment. In each of steps, students learned much more about speaking. Not only vocabulary, pronunciation, expressions, but also the valuable cultures to shape their behaviors. Some students had pronunciation and expression difficulties, but it could be overcome by practicing a lot. (2) CMMD is one of effective strategies to improve students’ speaking skill based on the result of the SPSS analysis which showed the null hypotheses were sig. of 0.000. It means that this strategy is effective to be used.

Abstract

Language is a means of communication. As a human, we can’t make a communication without languages in our life. There are so many languages in the world; so that it is difficult to understand another language. Language is one of the cultural elements that its role is very important as a means of communication to convey the purpose and subject matter as well as the human mind expresses itself in the social interaction and social life. When we know a language, we can speak and be understood by others who know that language. To understand our humanity we must understand the language that makes us human. Anthropological linguistics is part of linguistics that discusses about the language and its relevancy with culture around the language. In this thesis, the writer will discuss about umpasa Bataknese (kinds of poem in Bataknese) in wedding party. In this umpasa, we will find some metaphors and its culture behind the metaphors. Metaphor is a part of anthropological linguistics that discusses about the real semantically meaning of sentences based on the background culture. In method, the writer uses some strategies; those are collecting the data, analyzing the data and presenting the data. The data collection that is used by the writer is primary and secondary data which are taken from discussion by face to face. The data analysis that is used is metode padan and metode agih. The method of data presentation that is used is informal because the writer will analyze it by using word not by symbol or sign. Bataknese metaphor is influenced by the culture where the metaphor is used. The umpasa Bataknese is a source while the things which they use in wedding process are a target. Here, the writer makes the conclusion that each thing that they use in wedding process has a background culture, which is expressed in umpasa in metaphor. Abstract

Moral issues and crime are the main issues exhaled to support the passage of the Pornography Law. On the other hand, saving the young generation from the dangers of pornography and porno-action as the next generation of the nation’s struggle and moral decadence of the Indonesian population are among the reasons to legalize the Pornography Law. While the issues of pluralism, freedom, art and culture are often used to reject the Pornography Law. The purpose of this research is to know in general the reaction/ action of the public to the pornography and its implications, to provide solutions to the controversy of the Pornography Law itself. This research used descriptive qualitative based on a literature review which is complemented by questionnaire and expert interviews. The results of the study are since it was proposed to become a law, the Pornography Law still reaps many pros and cons in the life of the nation and state, disintegration of the nation will occur if the pros and cons of the Pornography Law continue, and a compatible local law (regarding to the community) is an alternative solution to the pros and cons for resolving the Pornography Law so far.

Abstract

This paper has three objectives: To describe the strategies used by the content creator, to explain about the tutorial of the heroes, to explain the strategy mostly applied in the tutorial videos of the heroes and to analyze the accuracy of the translation. The data is Mobile Legends’ video tutorial. After analyzing the data, there are 54 translation strategies in the data. The researchers analyze the data by using Malone’s framework (1998) about translation strategy. There are 5 strategies found in the data. The strategy most applied in the data is divergence with 29 times or 55.5%. It happened because mostly the caption translated by using dictionary meaning. Here, the translation applies the divergence since the meaning of the word range is based on dictionary. The accurate level becomes the highest level with average of 50 data or 93.6 %. It happens because most of the raters agree that the translator can deliver the meaning and the context well. The second rank is the inaccurate level with 3 data or 5.5%. Abstract

Bahasa Inggris merupakan bahasa asing yang mulai diperkenalkan di Sekolah Dasar (SD). Sekolah dasar merupakan jenjang pendidikan awal. Pada pendidikan awal ini para guru perlu memberikan fondasi yang kokoh untuk melangkah ke jenjang pendidikan selanjutnya. Untuk itu guru perlu memberikan pengalaman pembelajaran bahasa Inggris yang menarik agar anak merasa senang dan tertarik untuk belajar bahasa Inggris yang ucapan-ucapan dan tulisannya masih asing bagi mereka. Untuk memberikan pengalaman pembelajaran bahasa Inggris terutama dalam pengucapan/pelafalan yang menarik diperlukan kreativitas guru dalam memanfaatkan dan merancang sumber-sumber belajar yang ada di lingkungan sekolah dan rumah. Lagu-lagu anak yang ssering didengarkan dalam keseharian merupakan sumber belajar yang sangat bermanfaat untuk digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran pronunciation dalam berbahasa Inggris bagi anak SD. Hal ini disebabkan oleh karakteristik anak SD yang masih senang bernyanyi, belajar sambil bermain, berpikir secara holistik, dan masih menyenangi benda-benda yang konkrit. Selain itu, penelitian ini merupakan penelitian lanjutan dari penelitian-penelitian pembelajaran bahasa Inggris sebelumnya. Penelitian ini akan fokus mengkaji secara mendalam mengenai pembelajaran pronunciation melalui lagu anak berbahasa Inggris di SD Kramat Kabupaten Kudus dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif yang akan memperdalam kajian tentang pembelajaran pronunciation bahasa Inggris beserta solusinya untuk meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan sekolah dasar secara global. Sehingga pada akhirnya ditemukan upaya implementasi yang efektif dan efisien bagi sekolah dasar. Oleh karenanya penelitian ini menjadi sangat penting untuk dikaji. Penelitian ini juga dapat menjadi dasar penelitian lanjutan untuk meningkatkan kualitas implementasi bahasa Inggris di sekolah dasar. Abstract

The aim of this study is to develop disabled students’s foreign language and religion especially skill and knowledge. Being a language and religion teaching method that uses movement/physical activity to teach several materials (colours, family and asmaul husna), TPR responds favorably to disabled students’s need to be physically active, to learn by doing, and to learn language and religion in meaningful communicative and religion contexts. The activities are classified in relation to function so they can have in a lesson (colour and family) for English and Asmaul Husna for religion in fun ways. This study concludes that the main potentian of using TPR activities in language and religion teaching are in creating conditions similar to first language learning, reducing stress with singing the Asmaul Husna, and in assisting through motor movement. Abstract

Politeness is an important thing in communication because we need to understand someone’s feeling. The problem of this research is about politeness strategies on Cinderella (2015) movie consisting of bald-on record strategy, positive politeness strategy, negative politeness strategy, and off-record indirect strategy. The objectives of the study are to determine politeness strategies which are used by the character in Cinderella (2015) movie script to determine the factors that influences the choice of politeness strategies. The research methodhology is qualitative with observation and instropection. The result shows that the movie contains four politeness strategies in the conversation between the characters. Abstract

Karya sastra, baik itu puisi seperti Paman Doblang karya WS Rendra maupun cerpen bergambar seperti Kisah Pak Doblang karya Irma Hasanah selalu menarik untuk dibaca dan dikaji. Mengkaji kedua karya tersebut akan memberikan pengajaran bagi pembacanyanya. Pembaca-pembaca pemula sekelas siswa-siswi Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) akan mendapatkan nilai-nilai mulia dalam kehidupan yang akan menjadi bekalnya di kemudian hari. Oleh karena itu penulis tertarik untuk mendapatkan gabaran respon mereka lewat penelitian kancah dengan membagikan kedua karya tersebut untuk dibaca, kemudian dibagikan kwesener untuk mereka pilih. Hasilnya sungguh menggemberikan; karena mereka masih menghargai pentingnya kedermawanan meskipun dalam kemiskinan seperti dalam Kisah Pak Doblang. Sementara itu. Mayoritas responden juga menjunjung tinggi nilai keteguhan Ketika seseorang berjuang dalam hidup di dunia ini sebagaimana tercermin dari jawaban mereka atas kwesener untuk puisi Paman Doblang karya WS Rendra. Abstract

The Age of Innocence is a novel which tells us about the social condition of the American society at the end of the 19th century. This thesis deals with the American Society’s norms at the end of the 19th century reflected in Edith Wharton’s novel The Age of Innocence. Sometimes the author would like to tell us what really happen in our surrounding through his novel. As a social creature we have to pay attention to our environment. Therefore the main aim of this thesis is to reveal the influence of American society’s norms at the end of the 19th century toward the main characters in Edith Wharton’s novel The Age of Innocence. In writing this thesis, the writer uses the library research method, by which various sources are collected and also used to support the analysis. In approaching the novel, the writer uses the objective and the expressive methods to obtain a deep understanding of the American society’s behavior at the end of the 19th century. The results of the study indicate that the American society at the end of the 19th century still keep their high value. They consider the family honor and respectability above everything. The individual who deviates will obtain punishment that is appropriate with their custom and tradition. However they have to face the fact that the world is changing. Abstract

The Purpose of this study is to sosialize the understanding of treating a dead body in Islamic ways in Pedalangan Village, Banyumanik Sub District, Semarang. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative through pretest and postest as the tools to analyze and solve the problems. This study is able to provide solutions to various deficiencies in understanding how to take care of dead body in Islamic way with 3.8%-53.9% incremental understanding.
