Abstract

Because of the unexpected and debilitating effect of the current pan-demic, the impact of the pandemic on teachers is detrimental. This paper investigated the public-school teachers' sleep, religious tasks, and suicidal thoughts. The study used a descriptive correlational de-sign with the online survey as the primary data gathering tool. 198 public school teachers from a school's division in Central Luzon, Phil-ippines participated in the online survey. The researchers created the online instrument with validation done by experts. After the data gathering, the study used the following statistical tools to calculate the frequency count, percentage, rank, t-test, and Analysis of Variance with the help of SPSS 22. Results show that teachers go to sleep be-tween 10:00-11:00 PM and wake up between 5:00-6:00 AM. This comprises 7-9 hours of sleep. Teachers also go to church or other re-ligious meetings once a week and also, they pray, meditate, or study the Bible more than once a week. Also, most of the responses of teach-ers in the suicidal thoughts were either "no" or "never". Furthermore, the study also found significant differences in the teachers' sleep, re-ligious tasks, and suicidal thoughts when grouped according to their profile. The study concluded that teachers have established sleep and religious tasks routines. On the other hand, suicidal thoughts are out of the options for the teachers’ business.

Results showed that the stakeholders are very much aware of the university’s new vision statement and mission. They are also very much aware on the goals and objectives of the teacher education programs. Almost all stakeholders have full partic-ipation in the reformulation of the vision statement. Further, the VMGO are clear, understandable and acceptable as assessed by the university stakeholders. Massive information dissemination of the VMGO in all types of media is recommended. Stakeholders are also encouraged to take part in the realization of the university’s target outcomes and mandates.

Abstract

In educational system, just like in a classroom setting, there is a degree or sense of uncertainty or ambiguity on how teaching-learning process will take place. It is the duty and responsibility of the teacher to structure the classroom in maximizing students learning by engag-ing in all modalities such as hearing, visual, olfactory, kinesthetic and gustatory. Moreover, by bringing students together in the classroom to produce group interaction that facilitates learning in different in-dividuals.I, the Researcher, had facilitated an active learning through the use of Mode of Response for Students Engagement (MORSE). Inter-vention was the use of personalized card, dyad, work cell group and random calling conducted twice a week for the duration of the 1st grading period. The 29 respondents from experimental group were subjected to MORSE and 29 respondents from control group were given traditional classroom engagement. The proponent sought to answer the following research questions: What was the effect on the academic performance of the students who were subjected to MORSE? Was there a significant difference in the pre-test and post-test result using the traditional method and of the MORSE method? Lastly, what was the implication of MORSE method in teaching Earth Science among grade 10 students? The collected data of pre-test and post-test results were gathered and treated using paired sample t-test of difference and mean. Sample paired t-test result showed that the computed t value of 7.45 is greater than the t critical value of 1.701 at level of significance of 0.05. There is significant difference on the post test result between the con-trol group and experimental group. The Experimental group, who were subjected to MORSE techniques achieved higher post-test than the control group. Based from the analysis gathered, MORSE methods is highly effective as means of engaging students to actively partici-pate and improve academic performance in Earth Science. Therefore, I, the proponent recommended the use of MORSE in classroom activities. Likewise, teachers can make use other MORSE techniques or devices to facilitate active learning in the classroom for whole class engagement.

Abstract

The advent of the current COVID-19 pandemic almost halted the education process between teachers and students. Nonetheless, the government strived and overcame all the challenges posited by the pandemic and forged forward to continue the learning experience of students. This paper introduces the proposal entitled Project NEW-NORMAL which will provide substantial support in the learning modalities of students and cater the basic needs of teachers and students for the teaching and learning process. Different learning modalities provided various avenues to the learners to the most convenient and available modes of learning to which they preferred to select and experience. Printed learning modality was one the options where provision of self-learning modules is necessary that could stand without the help of the teachers. Likewise, digitized learning modality offered the utilization of technological platform through social networking sites, media, fora, etc. to download the materials provided by the teachers and the Department. The increased of technological and adversity quotients created a strong hold to face the current situation brought by the pandemic.

Abstract

The need of a location-based service more specifically as a mobile application sparked the interest of this paper to develop an Android Mobile Application using Location-based services. Yelp and Zomato are one of the few examples. The application created is specific to locating the nearest auto repair shops used via smartphones that detect the location of the user in order to perform the task. This application will not only benefit the customers in need for a nearby auto shop but as well as the providers of the service. The application was developed using Android Studio and was tested by using five (5) nearest auto shops around the vicinity. The results showed the directions getting to the shops as well as the type of services being provided to customers. An acceptability survey was conducted to validate the applicability of the mobile application. The survey was conducted using a controlled group consisting of the nearest auto shops and thirty (30) automobile enthusiasts. The survey presents an applicable and engaging application in assisting possible customers in case of emergency instances arise. Using the survey as basis, an enhancement of the application was completed. Finally, it was suggested that the application will reach its full potential once additional functions are implemented. Registration or Google verification of shop owners is key as it will add to the service provider directory to enable a broad listing.

Schools shall be conducive to children’s education, and that the children’s’ best interest shall be the primary consideration in all policies and actions of educational institutions. This descriptive cross-sectional survey gauged the Filipino public school teachers’ awareness of and attitudes towards the child protection policy (CPP). The study involved 99 basic education teachers in select public elementary and secondary schools in Zambales, Philippines. The basic education teachers are aware of the policy, and they have a favorable attitude toward its implementation. No significant difference has been found in their awareness and attitude towards CPP when grouped according to demographics. The study concludes that as the teachers become aware of the policy, they tend to have a more favorable attitude. The study recommends that the teachers be capacitated through continuing professional development programs to provide special protection to children who are seriously susceptible or threatened by situations that distress their normal growth. Further study may also be conducted to probe other CPP dimensions in basic education to come up with relevant and research-based recommendations towards the policy’s improved implementation in the public schools in the Philippine context.

Abstract

The article is aimed to study the correlation between the time spent on Facebook and GPA scores of post-graduate students of Afghanistan. Facebook, WhatsApp, Telegram, and many other social networks are used broadly by scholars inside and outside the campuses. However, these social platforms are a mean for communication and have paved the way for interactive educational practices, but still there are concerns on the relationships of these social applications on students’ educational developments. Reviewing the literature, the study identified that there are few articles on the impact of social media on teaching and learning in Afghanistan which are conducted in different context as well as applied different methods and observations. Therefore, this article intended to use a quantitative approach and descriptive survey to evaluate the GPA scores of the students and the time spent on Facebook in order to evaluate their relationships. The data is analysed performing Repeated Measure ANOVA and Pearson Correlation. The results show that there is no significant difference in the mean score of GPAs between three semester of post-graduates. It also highlights that there is no correlation between the time spent on Facebook and the GPA scores of students. To conclude, the study contributes to enrich the ongoing e-learning strategies of the higher education by underlining the potentials and restrictions of the use of social medias on students’ educational developments.
