Abstract

Islamic boarding schools can act as religious education institutions and also become institutions of social and economic education in improving the welfare of pesantren, santri, alumni and their fellow communities. The research aims to design a model of development communication through the santri economic empowerment program in Islamic boarding school education. Using Participatory Learning and Action (PLA), the selection of informants purposively, consisting of boarding schools, religious teachers, santri and community leaders. Data collection through documentation analysis, direct observation, interviews, Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and Participatory Decision Making (PDM). Research location in Al-Muttaqin Islamic Boarding School, Beber Cirebon, West Java. Analysis of research data using interactive analysis through the stages of data reduction, data presentation and verification and conclusion. The results of the study show that pesantren can design a communication model for counseling and empowerment of santri economics through entrepreneurship and cooperative material in the education curriculum as a choice or additional lesson for santri along with practical and internship programs. Santri will have entrepreneurial skills, independence and welfare, create harmony with the community and anticipate the negative stigma of boarding schools that are exclusive, closed and radical.

Abstract

Information literacy is one part of community empowerment activities, especially in the information field. Information literacy is the ability to search, evaluate, and use information needed effectively. Basically information literacy is not a new ability or skill, but in the era of information disclosure, information literacy is a must-have skill requirement. The problems faced today, there is still an imbalance between the pace of information available and the level of agricultural information literacy at the farm level. The development of agricultural information through the internet has led to cyber extensions, information is available quickly and varied, but not all farmers are able to access and use it. The Faculty of Agriculture UGM has developed an application with the name DesaApps. DesaApps stands for Digital Extension Society for Agriculture Application which aims to be an application platform that provides agricultural counseling and develops a digital farming community. The existence of DesaApps can be useful for users of the application to provide information to one another, interact and transact in agriculture. The features in the DesaApps application consist of Frequently Asked Questions, Articles, Price Information, Farm Notes, Weather Information. Shop Information, Office Information, and Selling Items. Utilization of the features provided by Desa Apps provides an opportunity for farmers to obtain the information needed, as well as a means of improving the skills of managing information obtained. Therefore, the presence of Desa Apps empowers farmers to be independently informed. However, the performance of Desa Apps as one of the sources of information still needs to be improved. In order to be able to optimize the use of Village Apps, the utilization strategy is to improve application performance, promote and promote Village Apps, responsiveness of experts, and optimize the use of Desa Apps as a marketing place.

Abstract

The magnitude of the influence of the dissemination of information in the mass media to the audience, makes the audience should be accustomed to doing media literacy. In the concept of media literacy, a good culture of media is to look at aspects of the level of public trust in information in the mass media. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of public confidence in the news in the mass media. This study uses descriptive quantitative correlational methods. The population in this study were students who enrolled in the city of Bogor, determining the sample using incidental sampling techniques. Khalayak agreed (76.9 percent) that they knew new information from the mass media. By receiving information from the mass media, respondents can add insight related to information displayed in the mass media. On the other hand, the more they receive a lot of information from the mass media, the respondents understand if the news displayed in the mass media is not always objective, some of which benefit certain parties. Therefore, respondents felt the need to know the same news in different mass media. A total of 54.4 percent agreed that respondents believed more in the information conveyed by mass media than social media.

Abstract

The people of West Sumatra, who have been adhering to the Minangkabau matrilineal cultural tradition, are currently experiencing cultural decay. Many studies speculate that the unique Minangkabau culture will not be too much disturbed by the influx of globalization because in essence the only part that will be eroded is the peripheral part, while the core will remain preserved for all time. This study photographed the people of Tanjung Raya District based on existing family typologies, then saw a shift in norms passed on to teenagers using the six Hofstede cultural dimensions. This study surveyed five types of families with calculations using a simple addition operation. The results of the questionnaire were made high and low criteria, then presented in cobweb graphical form. The assessment indicators are based on the six dimensions of Hofstede's culture. Shifting the teachings of exemplary teachings from Minangkabau culture is determined using the ANOVA test. The results of this study are to map the portrait of Minangkabau culture according to Hofstede and a portrait of each of Hofstede's dimensions in each type of family in Tanjung Raya District. From there, it can be seen how far away the approach of the values taught by the family towards Minangkabau culture is approaching.

Abstract

This study is intended to gain a better understanding of the use of ICTs from several developing countries for the purpose of developing agricultural economics and poverty alleviation. From the lessons learned, it is expected to get opportunities and challenges that must be addressed in relation to the use of ICTs for the development of agricultural economics and poverty alleviation, especially in Indonesia. The literature study method from several developing countries shows that ICTs play a role in helping farmers in decision making, in terms of planting and harvesting time because this is important in agricultural development. In this case, ICT empowers farmers with productive assets and marketing, increasing their productive capacity so that reducing their poverty status. Affordable ICT services in rural communities have played a very strong role in improving the economic conditions of the population that contribute to the rural economy. ICTs have the potential to be effective instruments in supporting poverty alleviation. In Indonesia, ICTs have not been used properly for agricultural business development because of the low level of education in agricultural business households and access to information on internet media. To overcome the information gap for rural households/ communities is to make the extension officers more effective, accelerate the development of telecommunications infrastructure in order to strengthen telecommunications signals, and provide continuous support to rural farmers and agricultural businesses.

Abstract

There are many researches on community radio in Indonesia have become a special interest to know how community radio still exists among the middle class people. Community Radio is a medium capable of providing information to citizens in remote areas. Become a medium of information without any commercial side achieved. Community Radio can be enjoyed by all people, from teenager to adult. Do not see educational background, and job. Community Radio becomes a forum to support community empowerment programs conducted by the local government. Empowerment program in question is a program that aims to prosper and promote the community. Presented in simple benuk broadcaster Radio Community is able to present with simple language and equipped with entertainment

Abstract

Marketing communication by community based agrotourism marketer are needed so that many people are interested to visit and utilize the products or services offered. Personal selling is one form of marketing communication conducted by Kampung 99 Pepohonan Agrotourism. This paper aims to analyze the effectiveness of personal selling as marketing communication at Kampung 99 Pepohonan Agrotourism which the one of community based agrotourism and analyze the factors that influence the effectiveness of personal selling as marketing communication. This research uses census method by using quantitative data in the form of questionnaires supported by qualitative data in the form of interview with informant. The results showed that the effectiveness of personal selling as marketing communications on cognitive aspect influenced by marketing communication skills variable and the completeness of message content variable, while the effectiveness of personal selling as marketing communication on affective and conative aspects influenced by messages delivery strategy.

Abstract

Now days, internet users had spread like a wildfire. Cyber Public Relation, as one of Public Relation’s activity to fulfill the external’s need of information. Fulfilling the external’s need of information about the enterprise’s business ethic is very useful in forming a positive image on the public’s eyes. The aim of this research is to analyze the relationships between communicating business’ ethic through cyber public relations on Burgreens’ Image. This research uses an accidental sampling method. People who is 25 years or above, who is active on cyber space, and who is considered have an awareness of the importance of healthy life, is the unit analysis of this research. The results shows that the implementation of cyber PR in communicating Burgreens’ business ethic could create a positif image.

Abstract

The emergence of various forest resources problem in Indonesia, pragmatically could not be launched from the processes that occured in higher education. As a manifestation of development communication events, pedagogical communication that occurs in forestry education was important to be observed. This paper aims to explain the facts that occured in the teaching and learning process at the selected Faculty of Forestry, including to explain epistemology that form those facts. The research paradigm is a critical paradigm in qualitative research. Samples were taken purposively by conducting classroom observations, in-depth interviews with students and lecturer, desk study and conducting Focus Group Discussion. The results of this research show that there are facts which lead to the ineffectiveness of pedagogical communication. There are at least 8 issues that became the impetus for the occurrence of such ineffectiveness. The situation has made the message construction thus was not carried but only administrative issues answered in ongoing pedagogical communication. It makes a silent culture increasingly wide spread and inquiries that build students awareness of being not able to grow.

Abstract

The development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is increasing rapidly, causing the internet utilization patterns become more varied, both for positive purposes and negative purposes. In order to avoid the negative effects of the internet, media literacy is required for internet users. The purpose of this research is to analyze the influence of respondent's characteristic to the media literacy level of young villager and to analyze the correlation between media literacy level of young villager and the utilization of internet by using 45 members of Cibanteng Village’s youth organization as respondents. This research is conducted by using quantitative approach supported by qualitative data. The results of this study indicate that there are respondent’s characteristics that significantly influence media literacy’s level of young villager and media literacy’s level of young villager significantly related with internet utilization.
