Abstract

Competition in the manufacture of raw materials for printing and binding purposes is undeniable, as is the hot glue required for binding on books. The method used in this writing is descriptive method, namely by presenting factual information obtained from observations obtained and seen in the Industrial Practices place. The binding technique without thread or perfect binding is used for binding books, magazines and others. The main ingredient in the perfect binding binding process is glue. Glue greatly affects the production result, if the adjustments are not done properly the temperature of the glue and the thickness of the glue. The purpose of writing this paper is to determine the adhesion strength of Fox brand glue and to find out the problems that occur in the gluing unit during the volume of the book "Technology Development in the Yoshino 602 machine. Fox glue has high adhesion strength and the adhesion dries quickly so as not to waste a lot of time. , Fox glue is also very suitable for binding paper types (coated and uncoated) with a temperature of 1650C-1800C and a side glue temperature of 1400C on the Yoshino 602 machine. So Fox brand glue is very suitable for the binding process of "Technology Development" books using a machine. Yoshino 602 at PT. Putra Nugraha Sentosa. The problems that occur in the gluing unit are the temperature of the glue, the thickness of the glue on the roller and the glue roller, due to the lack of accuracy of the machine operator. Keywords: Adhesion, Glue and Machine

Abstract

Newspaper printing production processes cannot be separated from the problems that affect printed results and excessive waste. So in a printing company, quality control is needed in order to get good printing results and minimize the amount of waste. The print quality results in a company have several shortcomings such as unsuitable colors, and difficulty to get the register when printing. Apart from the aforementioned shortcomings, there are also factors that cause excessive waste, namely scumming, register disturbances, not sharp printouts, set-off, ghosting, and broken paper. How to solve problems that affect print quality and excess waste by cleaning the ink roll, adjusting the leg according to the proof, adjusting the pressure cylinder pressure, and adjusting the volume of wetting water. From the problems found, the print quality results in a printing company need to be increased so that the amount of waste generated is not too much or too much. Keywords— Print Quality, Waste, Quality Control

Abstract

Comparative analysis of packaging print quality was carried out on the printed output with reference to using Computer to Film (CtF) and Computer to Conventional Plate (CtCP). The comparison of the print results from the two systems is analyzed from cost, durability, and dot gain. In this analysis, 400 gram duplex paper was used and two types of print references were used, namely CtF and CtCP. The pre-printing equipment used is the manufacture of conventional printing plates and plates. What is achieved when observing is comparing two print references with the help of a quality control (QC) tool. Before comparing the two print references, direct printing is done with the two print references, using an offset machine. The differences that exist in CtF and CtCP are caused by different irradiation processes. CtF goes through two irradiation processes while CtCP is in the irradiation process using only lasers. The irradiation process using a laser is uneven and makes the plate not get a raster (neat) result. This process is very influential with the result of the trigger. CtF goes through an iterative process but the results appear better than CtCP.Keywords— Print packaging, Duplex, CtF, CtCp

Abstract

Abstract — Current development has led to the development of technology also, including the graphics industry, one of which is the offset printing platemaking process, which used to still use conventional methods in the process using film, the development growing currently into Computer to Plate (CtP) technology is used to be more efficient, better automation, and low cost run. This also affects the quality standard of the printed plate produced, one of quality on the printing plate is the dot/raster size that is produced according to digital data. CtP uses a linear standard within a tolerance 1% of dot recovery, but there are many factors that must be controlled in achieving this linear standard, some of these factors include the strength of exposure to CtP and the temperature of the developer. So in this study is to determine the combination of variables between the strength of CtP exposure with variables 5 ms/dot, 7 ms/dot, 10 ms/dot, 12 ms/dot and developer temperature with variables 18°C, 20°C, 22°C, 24°C which has the smallest overall average dot size shift in the highlights, midtones and shadows areas. The method used in this study is to measure the dot reference using a spectroplate on each variation of the variable combination of CtP exposure strength and developer temperature. Based on the research that has been done, it can be concluded that for the variable exposure power of 5 ms/dot with a temperature of 22°C is the variation that has the lowest average dot size shift with a shift of 1.8% for the highlights area, 1.5% for the midtones area, and 1.5% for the midtones area. 0.7% for the shadows area.

Abstract

Abstract: Some printing technique have distinctive screen angle. Offset printing have certain screenangle, there is Cyan = 15º, Magenta = 45º, Yellow = 0º/90º, and key 75º. While on Flexography printing have different certain with Offset printing. Flexography need deviation 7,5º every angle, becoming Cyan = 22,5º, Magenta = 52,5º, Yellow = 7,5º, and key 82,5º. Special for yellow, screen angle must 0º or 90º because it have lowest contrast value. If set out of 0º or 90, it will be high distortion. Element overprint can help to showingeffect from color distortion because on element oveprint having 2 pile up raster. Significantdistortion can measured and controled. Therefor need researched how effect of applied different screen angle. This research using 20 sample by Flexography angle and 20 sampleby Offset angle were printed using the Offset printing technique and then measured the CIELab value in Blue. Result of this research is the occurrence of significant color deviation due to changes in the raster angle. Keywords: Flexography, Offset, Overprint
