Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning result of grade VII.3 students of SMP Negeri 5 Sabang on fraction topic by applying TGT (Team Games Tournament) cooperative learning model. This is a type of classroom action research consisting of two cycles. The data collection was carried out on August to October 2018, while subject of the study is grade VII.3 students. Data collection technique applied in this study is tests and observations. Quiz tests are carried out to determine the students’ learning result individually while observations are conducted to find out the teacher's activities during implementing TGT cooperative learning model. Descriptive analysis was chosen as the technique of data analysis. Score analysis was carried out by analysing the standard achievement of minimum satndard score 70. The average score of students in the first cycle was 25.89, the highest score was 57. Meanwhile, the average score of the second cycle decreased to 7.46 with the highest score 33. The research result indicates that there has not been an increase in students’ learning result in fraction topic by applying TGT cooperative learning model. In conclusion, it can be stated that that the application of the TGT cooperative learning model in learning fractions in class of VII-3 SMP Negeri 5 Sabang cannot help teachers to improve students’ learning result.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement of the development of mathematical and interpersonal intelligence of students in learning mathematics of scale material using the actual Sifter Board media. This research is a development research used to develop mathematics learning media in the sixth grade of the UPTD Tambegan Elementary School. Learning outcomes that were carried out previously showed no development of students' mathematical and interpersonal intelligence. After the learning with PAS media was carried out, students were not only able to work on material scale questions, but with the material acquisition activities they were able to make problems and do it correctly. In addition, the stages of using PAS media can develop the ability to work together, the ability to be confident, the ability to motivate others, mutual respect. Based on the results obtained it can be concluded that the use of PAJS media can improve students' mathematical and interpersonal intelligence.

Abstract

This paper presents a study of the Pictorial model as a mathematical representation in solving mathematical words problem. The ability of mathematical representation is an important key for students in solving mathematical words problems and being successfull in mathematics learning. Therefore, this ability should be emphasized, developed and owned by students in learning mathematics. The Pictorial Model can be used as a first step in representing and simultaneously modeling/illustrating the purpose of a mathematical words problem. This Pictorial model approach combined with basic algebraic concepts is expected to be able to assist all students in understanding as well as solving mathematical description problems in which usually students find them difficult. In this way, students can ultimately develop their competencies and mathematical abilities optimally.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the activeness as well as mathematics learning achievement on sets topic through the Jigsaw learning model, grade VII B students of SMP Negeri 12 Semarang odd semester of 2018/2019 academic year. The research process consists of two cycles, in which each cycle covers for steps namely planning, action, observation and reflection. The research data were in the form of observation sheet notes, test results, and assignment results. The type of collected data is qualitative and quantitative data. Technique of data collection applies documentation, observation and analysis of learning results. Research instruments cover score list, notes of teaching and learning journal, and observation sheet. Data validation is done by involving observer and colleagues involved during the collaboration. Data analysis was performed using descriptive comparative technique by comparing pre, first and second cycle data. This step was then followed with critical analysis by conducting the reflection. Previously, the average knowledge score of grade VII B students on set topic was 55, while the average skill score was 56. Later on, after the jigsaw learning model was applied, average of the knowledge score increased to 65.6 at the first cycle, and 81.3 at the second cycle. Meanwhile the average of skill score was increased to 71.9 at the first cycle and 83.6 at the second cycle. These results indicate that there is an increase at the mathematics learning achievement for grade VII B students. In addition, students’ activities are increasingly optimal; they show quite positive responses towards teaching and learning activity.

Abstract

This study is a classroom action research aims to increase the activity and learning achievemen making use of Nitasapura. Subject of the study is the 34 first semester students of the second graders SD Negeri 6 Dauhwaru academic year 2018/2019. Technique of collecting data applied in this study is observation and test to obtain the data on students’ learning activities and learning achievement. The collected data were presented qualitatively applying a comparative descriptive technique. The use of Nitasapura in mathematics teaching and learning may increase students’ activities in learning mathematics; before the treatment it is at the category of less active learning, and it becomes an active category at the end of the treatment. The use of Nitasapura improves the students learning achievement of the second graders at SD Negeri 6 Dauhwaru for the topic of number. This fact can be observed from result of the first cycle average test score which is 66.6, it is in everage category with 73.53% learning achievement. Meanwhile, the average test score of the second cycle is 82.4, at good category with 100% learning achievement. Based on these facts, it is to say that the use of Nitasapura in mathematics teaching and learning increases the activities and learning achievement of the second graders at SD Negeri Dauhwaru 6.

Abstract

This study aims to map the results of the mathematics national examination. The research was conducted from October to November 2018. Data collection technique applied in this research was documentation technique. The data of this study were taken from PAMER released by Puspendik in 2016, 2017, and 2018. Data analysis was carried out in a quantitative descriptive model, and then the results were presented in the form of graphs and tables. The results of this study indicates that: 1) the scores of mathematics national examination of students in the last three years (2015/2016, 2016/2017, and 2017/2018) are considered low on all materials tested, and 2) nationally, the average scores of mathematics national examination almost in all provinces are condidered low at all levels of education.

Abstract

National Examination is one of the learning results assessment set by the Government, and is ruled at Minister of Education and Culture regulation Number 4 year 2018. The problem discussed in this study is the low percentage of students achieving Graduare Competence Standard/SKL 55 in the nationale examination tryout for mathematics. One of the alternatives to solve this problem is the Peer Tutoring learning method using Whatsapp Messenger application asisstance, in which the subject is grade 12 AP students of SMK Negeri 1 Tanjungpandan academic year of 2018/2019. The research method implemented is the classroom action research. The peer tutoring learning method using Whatsapp Messenger application asisstance was carried out both inside and outside the classroom by providing a smaller member whatsapp group and a classroom whatsapp group. Each small group consists of 6 people in which there were 1-2 peer tutors. Based on the results of data analysis and discussion, there was an increase at the results of the tryout of mathematics national exam tryout for grade 12 AP students after peer tutoring learning method using whatsapp messenger application asisstance was applied, with the total increase up to 50%. This fact can be inferred from the difference of the test results percentage for the first tryout and the third tryout which is from 10% to 60%, while the average score is increased from 34.96 to 60.22 by 25.26 points.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and produce student book and teacher manual book in teaching and learning for the topic of Problem Solving-oriented Linear Equation System of Two Variables with 5E setting. This is a development research on problem solving-oriented learning models with 5E settings. The research utilises supporting learning devices that includes student books, teacher manuals and lesson plans. The process of developing student books and teacher manuals refers to the Plom model of developing procedure. Subject of this study is 36 students of grade X Vocational School 1 Denpasar. The student book which was developed is valid with a score of 3, while the teacher's manual score is 3.8 with a quite valid category. In the first practicallity test, the average score of student books and teacher manuals was 3.1, while in the second field test the score was 3.2, it is in the practical categories.The effectiveness of student books and teacher manuals in field trial 1 reached a score of 78.92 (good), while in the field trial 2 the score was 86.07 (very good). This fact shows that the problem solving- oriented student books and teacher manuals with the 5E setting are worthy to be used as learning sources for vocational mathematics, because they meet the criteria for validity, practicality, and effectiveness.

Abstract

Motivation effect influences students performances in class that can indicate students’ achievement. This Action Research aims to increase motivation towards mathematics learning of seventh graders at SMP Negeri 11, Yogyakarta, Indonesia in 2016/2017 using NHT modal was implemented in two cycles. Data were collected through mathematics motivation questionnaire, observation sheets on teaching and learning process, and field notes. Data were analyzed through qualitative and quantitative analysis. In the first cycle, students’ scores on motivation increased in 88% (good categorization), where three students (9%) in very good motivation level, 19 students (56%) were categorized good, and 12 students (35%) were categorized moderate. The implementation result of NHT in first cycle was 76%. In the second cycle, students’ motivation scores increase beyond exceeded the target. The average results of the motivation score were 93 (good), where was 4 students (12%) in very good categorization, 25 students (73%) were categorized good, and 5 students (15%) were categorized moderate. Then, NHT learning reached 92%. To sum up, it can be concluded that NHT can be alternative modal that can be implemented to help mathematics class for seventh graders at SMP Negeri 11, Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

Abstract

The basic concept of trigonometric ratios now is not excellently grasped by students of Granada Islamic Senior Secondary School. The problem identification result shows that there is students’ ennui due to the indoors mathematics learning. This study aims to reinforce basic concepts of trigonometric ratios by increasing the students’ learning activities and mastery kearning by means of clinometer. The benefits of this study are (1) for mathematics teachers, it is an effort to elaborate science by utilising clinometer in teaching and learning and (2) as for students, it is to enable them applying trigonometry in daily life. Clinometer is one of the simple teaching aids used to measure the height of an object utilizing elevation angles and trigonometric ratios. The tests result and observational record shows that students’ activities increase from 39.39% to 93.93% as well as students' mastery learning that increases from 25% to 84.84%. The result of this study indicates that the use of clinometer may support the students' concepts reinforcement on trigonometric ratios.
