Abstract

The progress of a nation is largely determined by the quality of education. The more quality a nation's education is, the more potential it is to increase the dignity of that nation. Therefore, the government created a National Education Standard as a benchmark for minimum standards that must be achieved and even exceeded by educational units in the territory of the Republic of Indonesia. The implementation of the National Education Standards must be regularly monitored by school supervisors and reported to the relevant authorities. The principle of web-based transparency is one of the strategies that need to be taken in order to streamline the monitoring of the National Education Standards

Abstract

This research aims are to describe the teacher in using personal letter as media in teaching writing of recount textand tofind out the teacher’s problems in teaching writing of recount text by using personal letter as media in the tenth grade of MAN Jung Cangcang Pamekasan. Then, the object of this research obtain from the students of the tenth grade atMAN Jung Cangcang Pamekasan. There are 35 that consist 9 boys and 26 girls students.In gathering the data, the reseacher used observation process, interview, and documentation at the tenth grade of MAN Jung Cangcang Pamekasan. The research design of this study is descriptive qualitative. The result of this research, there are how the teacher in using personal letter and the problems the teacher in using personal letter as media in the tenth grade at MAN Jung Cangcang Pamekasan. In using personal letter of teaching writing recount text, there are some steps such as: pre-activity, whilst activity, and post activity. Then, the problems that was faced by the teacher in usingpersonal letter as media in teaching writing recount text are the first,the teachers’ problems in teaching writing recount text is difficult to get attention for students in teaching process by using personal letter media, the second problem, the teacher felt difficult to make the students activein the class because the students less of vocabularies, and the third problem, the teacher felt that the goal of the teaching process by using personal letter as media is not running well.

Abstract

Many techniques can be applied to solve the problems above, including Reciprocal Teaching Method because many research findings say that this technique is effective to the students’ reading comprehension. In this research, the researcher located at SMA Muhammadiyah Pamekasan. The approach of this reasearch is qualitative and the data are gotten by observation, interview and documentation. Then, those data are analyzed with analysis qualitative- descriptive and all of data gotten are checked the validity of the data. Reciprocal teaching refers to an instructional activity in which students become the teacher in small group reading sessions. Teachers model, then help students learn to guide group discussions using four strategies: Predicting, Questioning, Clarifying and  Summarizing. Reciprocal teaching is most effective in the context of small-group collaborative investigation, which is maintained by the teacher or reading tutor. The objectives of the study are (1) the researcher wanted to describe how the teacher implement reciprocal teaching method to the students’ reading comprehension on the eleven grades of IPA 1 at SMA Muhammadiyah Pamekasan is. (2) And the researcher wanted to figure out the students’ responses in studying reading by reciprocal teaching method. The result of the research shows that (1) The teacher implemented the reciprocal teaching well in the teaching and learning process. The teacher divided the class into five groups and gave the students worksheet, the teacher gave the students an analytical exposition text and asked them to do worksheet with their group, the teacher pointed the students one by one to read the result of the discussion and the teacher discuss together with the students about the material and giving the conclusions. (2) The reciprocal teaching method is able to make the students having more spirits to read and study reading comprehension because reciprocal teaching is an effective method to make the class more interesting. The result of the last research is  questionnaire for the learners. Most of the learners were happy to study reading by using reciprocal teaching method.

Abstract

In this study there are two problems of study. The first is Is there any effect of Word Search Puzzle Game in teaching vocabulary to the sixth grade students of SDN Kolpajung II. The second how significant is the use of Word Search Puzzle Game gives effect in the teaching vocabulary to the sixth grade students of SDN Kolpajung II.The population of this research is all of students at the sixth grade of SDN  Kolpajung II. While the sample of this research is the sixth grade students of  SDN Kolpajung II. There are 29 students of sixth grade at SDN Kolpajung II. In this research uses quantitative approach, while research design that is used in this research is pre-experimental. Research instruments that used in this study are test and documentation. Test is used to measure students vocabulary. While documentation is used to support and complete the data such as lesson plan, pre-test and post-test scores, photo, etc. The result of this research is there was significance effect of Word Search Puzzle Game in teaching vocabulary to the sixth grade student at SDN Kolpajung II because the t-value was higher than t-table in significance alpha 5% The score of t-value in this research was 2,05 and the score of t-table was 10.865 in level significance 5% with degree of freedom 28  ( 10.865>2,05  ). From these results, it is suggested to the English teachers to use an appropriate technique in teaching English especially in teaching vocabulary, in this case using Word Search Puzzle Game since Word Search Puzzle Game was gave positive effect in teaching vocabulary. It is also expected for further researchers to continue this research on the other vocabulary items.

Abstract

This study is focus on the implementation of information gap method and the students` response to the implementation of information gap method in teaching speaking skill by one english teacher who taught twenty one students in IX IPS class at MTs Riyadlul Muhtadin Pegantenan Pamekasan. This study was aimed to describe the the use of Information Gap method in teaching speaking by considering the implementation of group work, choosing interesting material and applying some procedures, then they did the activities consisted of incomplete information in the form of text. Then each groups performed asking and question in front of the class to completing the task. This study also describe the students` response to Information gap method, there were 90.47 % of the students were attracted to learn by using Information Gap Method. Furthermore, the information-gap activities could grab the students’ attentions, make them enjoyed the material during the class, and enthusiastically joined the teaching and learning activities.

Abstract

In today's complex business environments, the quality of information management and information systems has become a key factor of success. This subject needs to use a variety of teaching and learning strategies to provide students with a hands-on approach to learning about accounting information systems. Lectures are interactive and are used to impart important theoretical and practical concepts. the writer formulates the questions as follows: (1) How to apply TPR Method in teaching Accounting Information Systems at Unira?, (2) What are the student’s response toward the implementation of TPR in teaching Accounting Information Systems at Unira? The researcher uses descriptive qualitative method to get the aim. There are one lecturer and 32 students so that the researcher tries to concentrate the subject of this research. Data of the research collected by Observation, Interview and Questioner.Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that during learning process taking place in the class by using Total Physical Response (TPR) method was very good, the lecturer can apply the method well and the students can give good response to the material by using this method.This is shown by their interaction in the class, usually they are not interested to study, but by applying this method can reduce the passive student to be active students, and they began to interest to study. Based on the result above can be described on the percentage of the student who fill the questioner that provided by the lecturer to measure the students interest, there for about 64.7% students are interested to study vocabulary by using TPR method because they can enjoy the material by using action, and only a few students are not interested to this method with several reason such as; they don’t have self-confident, even they misunderstanding to the material

Abstract

Dictation is one of techniques in learning foreign language. Understanding dictation is not always easy for students. An English lecturer should choose suitable techniques to teach them in order not to make students bored because she is one of the factors that determines whether the teaching learning process will be successful or not. The lecturer has to be able to apply various techniques in teaching English because the students prefer listening and writing an easy text. So, the lecturer can use correction techniques like shadow dictation and passing the buck.

Abstract

The researcher investigates the specific problems as follows: (1) What are the teachers’ difficulties in English instruction at MTS Raudhatul Ulum? (2) How do the teachers overcome those difficulties in English instruction at MTS Raudhatul Ulum? This research use descriptive qualitative method because the researcher describe the teachers’ difficulties in English instruction and how the teachers overcome their difficulties. In collection the data the researcher use two kinds of data collection: observation and interview (interactive technique). Data source taken from the observation and interview. The interview were distributed to 2 English teachers of MTS Raudhatul Ulum. Teachers get three main difficulties that become a problem in English instruction. They were the difficulty on students’ mindset, difficulty on students’ interest toward English, and the last were the difficulty on students’ ability, the teachers difficult to instruct the students when they taught in the classroom. 2. There are three ways that the researcher found to overcoming those difficulties. The first is the teachers give spirit, the second is the teacher mix the language, using Indonesian language and both Indonesian and English language, but sometime the teacher using Arabic language, and the last is the teacher using innovative strategies when they taught in the classroom.

Abstract

Amidst viral Covid-19 emergency, the minister of education and culture has instructed the teachers or lecturers and learners to utilize the social media as online teaching-learning process. In this case, the researchers tried to find out the college learners’ reading interests through social media (WhatsApp group). This research applied a case study design in which the data sources were interview and self-report questionnaire. The result of interview showed the college learners were interests and fun, enjoy, confident. Additionally, the college learners also had much time to read, and got new experiences. The result of self-report questionnaire described almost all college learners felt happy, enthusiastic, enjoy, confident, satisfied, belonged to WhatsApp group, better communication, and also the college learners had much time to read, a great deal of information, and academic achievement. WhatsApp group has become online teaching-learning media that can raise the college learners’ reading interests amidst viral Covid-19 emergency. The educators and learners were suggested to use the social media such as WhatsApp group as online teaching-learning media during pandemic.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine student responses to English Mathematics lectures using the silent way method and also to determine students' speaking skills when the method was applied. Aspects assessed from speaking skill include grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, fluency, and pronunciation. This study uses quantitative and qualitative descriptive methods which aim to see the responses and learning outcomes of students in the form of speaking skills using English mathematics with Integer and Fractions material. Based on the results of the research that has been carried out, it can be concluded that the responses and speaking skills of students in English mathematics lectures on the topic of integers and fractions at Madura University are generally good. The response given by students to lectures with this method is positive. Meanwhile, the speaking ability score which includes 5 aspects is also good, namely the students' grammar mastery of 35.9% who got a score of 3 in the very good category, vocabulary mastery of 47.2% in the very good category, and 41.5% of the comprehension mastery with very good category, fluency mastery of 20.7% in very good category, mastery of pronunciation indicator by 16.2% in very good category.
