Abstract

In recent years, the process of cellular manufacturing and group technology have received a lot of attention and popularity in many developed countries. By applying Group Technology (GT), many benefits of flow-line production can be attained in a batch production system. GT improves material handling significantly by reducing material flow time, distance, and setup times. In this paper, an earnest investigative attempt was made to provide valuable information regarding the use of Group Technology by applying to a real world jobshop system. The proposed GT model has the flexibility of choosing the number of cells required, which is very useful in examining different manufacturing cell configurations; or in case the workshop or factory prefers a certain number of work cells. The GT model results were found satisfactory and superior to other techniques in some cases.

Abstract

Humans are basically inseparable from education in carrying out life. The implementation and development of educational studies must also be adapted to the conditions and social situations that exist in the community. The main focus of Goal 4 on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is to provide inclusive quality education or to ensure everyone has an equal opportunity to get good quality of education. In fact, Indonesia is still struggling in the quality of teacher issue. In the school year of 2019/2020, there are 8.98% unqualified teachers and headmasters on primary school level, 6.16% on junior high school level, 10.07% on senior high school level, and 10% on vocational high school level. Cumulatively, from primary school level to vocational high school level, there are 247.462 unqualified teachers and headmasters in Indonesia. This is a serious problem, considering that teachers are important component in determining the quality of education itself. In this research, UI/UX design prototype of learning web application named “IdeIn” was developed using Design Thinking method that consists of empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test stages. The main focus of this learning web application is to provides an opportunity to the whole community to support education in Indonesia by conducting online classes.

Abstract

Energy is something that people need every day. One of the energies that are glorified to meet people's energy needs is electrical energy. The need for electrical energy in Indonesia continues to increase in line with economic growth and the increasing population. One of the components of electric power that is useful for delivering electric current to transmission networks is a substation. With the feasibility of techno-economic, it is possible to know the feasibility of the quality of an electric power system based on financial analysis. This paper provides a mini-review of the techno-economy of substation electricity and its maintenance in several regions in Indonesia today. The research stages consist of literature study, identification of article titles, article abstract screening, complete article selection, and mini-review reviews. Several studies are still not widely applied to the calculation of the cost of energy consumption to customers. In addition, the basic cost of providing electricity, the profit from electricity sales, and the payback period method need to be improved in research related to the techno-economic analysis of electrical energy. It is important to do this to determine the potential feasibility and the estimated advantages and disadvantages of an electric power system.

Abstract

Electroplating uses aluminum material, where it’s easy to obtain, lighter, and cheaper than other metals. The research goal was to determine the ability of the electric current to power aluminum (Al) coated with silver (Ag) by the electroplating method, to determine the effect of the magnitude of the electric current and the length of time the coating process took on the weight of Al coated with Ag and to determine the strength of the metal Al after tested using Brinnell test. The method used is to compare pure Al and pure Al coated with Ag by electroplating at different currents to determine the effect of the electroplating process. A Brinnell test was carried out to determine the hardness of the Al material after electroplating. The results are the amount of current that flows during the electroplating is directly proportional to the thickness of the electroplating layer attached to the Al surface. If the electroplating process uses a large current, the attached layer will look rough and not smooth, which also affects the material testing by using the Brinnell method. The Brinnell test proves that the hardness value of the Al material is directly proportional to the thickness of the layer.

Abstract

Hydrological design, planning and design of flood mitigation structures require detailed knowledge of the characteristics of the flood event, i.e. peaks, volumes, occurrence times and duration. In addition to the uncertainty associated with the occurrence in both space and time, these events may often have a correlation of varying strengths. The literature study interestingly reveals that the majority of studies are based on a univariate approach rather than a more realistic approach that recognizes the multivariate nature of the underlying phenomenology. Therefore, the main objective of this study is to revisit the topic of sizing of flood events in terms of their frequency of occurrence using the ‘Copula’ based bivariate approach to analyze the joint distributions of correlated flood variables with a special focus on Ribb sub basin, Upper Blue Nile (Ethiopia) as the case study. The methodology was applied to flood attributes, i.e. flood peaks and volume generation from partial duration series (PDS) by applying run theory. The Joint Cumulative Distribution Function, the Conditional Cumulative Distribution Function and the associated Return Periods can be easily achieved based on the bivariate distribution of the copula and compared to the univariate analysis.

Abstract

An unstable economy is rife with fraud. Perpetrated on customers, it ranges from employees’ internal abuse to large fraud via high-value contracts cum control breaches that impose serious consequences to biz. Loyal employees may not perpetrate fraud if not for societal pressures and economic recession with its rationalization that they have bills to pay and children to feed. Thus, the need for financial institutions to embark on effective measures via schemes that will aids both fraud prevention and detection. Study proposes genetic algorithm trained neural net model to accurately classify credit card transactions. Compared, model used a rule-based system to provide it with start-up solution and it has a fraud catching rate of 91% with a consequent, false alarm rate of 9%. Its convergence time is found to depend on how close the initial solution space is to the fitness function, and for recombination and mutation rates applied.
