Abstract

Stroke is one of the health problems that cause movement disorders in sufferers due to decreased loss or decreased muscle function. Range of motion exercise is thought to improve movement function in stroke patients. Aim: The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of a range of motion (ROM) on muscle strength in stroke patients. Thus, the authors discussed the literature review on the effectiveness of a range of motion (ROM) on muscle strength in stroke patients. Method: A systematic search was conducted in the following three databases: PUBMED, PLOS ONE, EBSCO, and GOOGLE SCHOLAR using the keywords “Stroke” AND “Range Of Motion” AND “Muscle Strength.”. Result: There are 417 articles in the Pubmed, Plos One, Ebsco, and Google Scholar databases, but only eight articles meet all criteria, including search and review. The results of statistical tests in eight literature show that most of the effects of a range of motion exercises on increasing muscle strength in stroke patients are carried out 1-2 times a day, and the duration of each extremity is 15-20 minutes per session, performed two times a day for six days. Discussion: Performing ROM exercises for stroke patients must be adjusted to the recommendations for both the type and time of implementation. It aims to maintain or increase muscle mass and muscle tone of patients with stroke who have decreased muscle strength. Conclusion: Range of motion exercise affects increasing muscle strength in patients with stroke.

Abstract

The problem faced by the government is the limitation to support PLWHA to enhance their mental health status. The non-governmental-based supporting group may have an impact on PLWHA’s resilience due to their psychosocial problems. The purpose of this study was to explore the resilience levels among people with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) who are members of a non-governmental-based supporting group. This study used a quantitative design with a descriptive explorative approach — a hundred PLWHA, who have registered and followed the non-governmental supporting group in Jember, Indonesia during the last period of 2018 following this study by using a purposive sampling technique. The Brief Resilience Scale questionnaire was used to collect data. Data was collected in June - July 2019. Data were analyzed by descriptive explorative approach with 95% of CI and data were shown in the frequency table. The results of this study showed that 3% of the respondents’ resilience has low resilience category, 56% has normal resilience, and 41% has high resilience level after 6 months following the supporting group. Support from members of the supporting group as an external factor made respondents more resilient. Resilience for PLWHA should be further enhanced to help PLWHA survive better and be able to face difficulties.

The patient's response to stress depends on positive coping mechanisms. Positive self-belief or self-efficacy of a patient to the treatment of his illness can increase positive coping mechanisms. This study aims to explain the relationship between self-efficacy with coping mechanisms in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. This study used correlation research design with a cross-sectional approach. Sampling technique in this study used consecutive sampling with respondents 36 outpatients type 2 diabetes mellitus in dr. Haryoto Hospital at Lumajang. Data was obtained by giving questionnaires of the Diabetes Management Self Efficacy Scale (DMSES) and the Cope Inventory, analyzed by using Spearman Rank correlation test. This study showed a significant relationship between self-efficacy and coping mechanism (p = 0.001) with a strong and positive correlation (r = 0.673) which shows the higher self-efficacy of the patient then the coping mechanism will better. Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus who have high self-efficacy in the treatments will have good coping mechanisms in dealing with psychological distress such as stress, depression, and anxiety

Abstract

Surgery is a potential or actual threat to a person's integrity that can arouse anxiety when faced with it, thus causing feelings of discomfort or fear. One of the most common responses in postoperative patients is the level of anxiety and discomfort. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the level of anxiety and the degree of pain in postoperative sectio caesarea patients at Pasirian Hospital. This research is a correlational study with a cross sectional research design. Data were taken from postoperative sectio caesarea patients with SAB anesthesia at Pasirian Hospital with the instruments used were anxiety level questionnaire sheets (HARS) and pain level observation sheets. The total population of 45 respondents, the sample studied was 40 respondents by accidental sampling. Then the data were analyzed manually and on a computer with the Spearmank Rank test. The results showed that of the 40 respondents studied, most (52.5%) aged 31-40 years, education level (70%) had high school education, based on occupation (57.5%) Housewives (IRT), (67.5 %) did not have a history of cesarean section, (52.5%) were primigravida in the history of labor, and primigravida (52.5%) had a history of distance delivery. Meanwhile (70%) respondents with the characteristics of severe anxiety levels and the characteristics of severe pain degrees were (60%) respondents. Based on the Spearmank Rank test, the p value of 0.000 is smaller than (0.05), it can be concluded that H1 is accepted, meaning that there is a relationship between the level of anxiety and the degree of pain in postoperative cesarean section patients at Pasirian Hospital. Pain is everyone's subjective, so as a nurse must assess and evaluate the problem of pain. Provide information about the surgical process and provide relaxation therapy to patients to reduce anxiety levels.

Abstract

Asthma is characterized by narrowing and inflammation of the bronchi, with symptoms of dyspnea, fatigue, and limited activity. This study aims to explain the effect of respiratory inspiratory muscle training on changes in respiratory function based on the results of previous studies. This study was compiled based on a literature review that came from the databases: PubMed, springer link, and google scholar which were selected based on the inclusion criteria that have been set. From 272 articles found, only 6 articles deserve to be reviewed. The results of the review stated that respiratory inspiratory muscle exercise had an effect on changes in respiratory function in asthmatic patients with a very significant significance value. Changes provided by inspiratory muscle training are related to respiratory muscle strengthening which reduces respiratory stimulus and ventilation requirements for a given workload, contributing to more efficient breathing patterns and decreased perception of dyspnea. Inspiratory respiratory muscle exercise, either done alone or in combination with other respiratory rehabilitation programs, can increase the strength of the respiratory muscles so as to have an improved impact on the respiratory function of children with asthma from children to adults.

Abstract

The condition of the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the emergence of feelings of anxiety, distress, and stress. One of the impacts of COVID-19 on mental health is the emergence of self-stigma in patients who have recovered from COVID-19. Self-stigma can give rise to negative attitudes in themselves over their condition. This study is aimed to describe the self-stigma incidence in post-COVID-19 patients in Kaliwates Subdistrict. This research design was descriptive quantitative with 86 post-COVID-19 patient respondents domiciled in Kaliwates Subdistrict determined by purposive sampling technique. Data collection was conducted by the Self Stigma Scale (SSS) questionnaire. The results showed that the median value of self-stigma was 30.50 with a minimum value of 0 and a maximum value of 56. A total of 14 people had a total score of 0 which means that 14 respondents (16%) did not experience self-stigma, while 72 others (84%) felt the existence of self-stigma with a different total score. This research is important to detect self-stigma to support the recovery process of post- COVID-19 patients. Nurses are expected to be able to carry out the further follow-up, act as counselors and provide interventions such as cognitive therapy for post-covid-19 patients who experience self-stigma.

Experience and knowledge become one factor that influences student perceptions—fairly good perception related to positive feelings to minimize anxiety. Besides that, internship nursing students have a good self-adaptation to the online learning transition period to not relate to anxiety. Further researchers can identify risk factors for causing anxiety in students.
