Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of discovery learning method on writing news text skills. The research method used is an experimental research method with discovery learning approach. The results showed that the mean value of the experimental class was 83.78 with a standard deviation of 16.74 which were well qualified. Whereas in the control class the average value is 69.82 with a standard deviation of 15.87, which is more than adequate. The bivariate test results showed that the value of Ftable 3,4> Fcount 1.1095 and the analysis results obtained Tcount 3.061 and Ttable 1.68. The average score of the experimental class writing ability is higher than the control class. In conclusion, there is a significant effect of the use of the discovery learning method on the skills of writing news texts in class VIII students of SMP Negeri 4 Lareh Sago Halaban. Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the use of EYD in the exposition paragraph. This type of research is qualitative research using descriptive methods. Based on the results of the study, the errors in using EYD for exposition paragraphs are grouped into three parts, namely capital letters, preposition and punctuation. Writing capital letters results in 279 cases of error, the use of prepositions of data results in 24 cases of errors, while the use of punctuation is further divided into the use of a period (.) And the use of a comma (,), the use of a period of data results in 26 cases of errors, while the use of commas obtained data results as many as 36 cases of errors. Thus it can be concluded that the misuse of EYD was caused by students' lack of understanding of the writing procedure according to the EYD system. Keywords: Exposition Text, EYD Usage Error

Abstract

This study aims to design teaching material products to design scientific papers through a contextual approach that is valid, practical, and effective. The method used is Research and Development. The results showed that the teaching materials for designing contextual-based scientific work for the 2018/2019 academic year were in accordance with what was expected, namely having a teaching material book that had complete material and was in accordance with the needs of students. The results of this study have also been valid by getting a percentage of all validators, namely 81% with a very good category, the practicality of teaching materials in designing contextual-based scientific work gets a percentage of 82.5% with a very good category and the effectiveness of teaching materials for writing official letters gets an average percentage 80.1% with a very good category. In conclusion, the teaching materials for designing scientific work that the researchers have developed are valid, practical and effective. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the think pair and share method on the exposition of the writing skills of class X SMKN 3 Payakumbuh students. This research method is a quantitative study using the experimental method. The results showed that the mean score of students in the experimental class was 78.37, while in the control class it was 70.62. In conclusion, the think pair and share method affects the writing skills of the exposition text in the experimental class. There is a significant difference in the results of text writing skills using the think pair and share method and conventional methods. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the skills of writing fairy tales using the drill method for seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 1, Guguak District, Lima Puluh Kota Regency. This research method uses quantitative methods with descriptive types. The results showed that the seventh grade students generally got an average score of 82.45 with a range of 76-85% with good qualifications. In conclusion, the skills of writing fairy tales using the drill method in the form of a student's fairy tale framework are classified as very good qualifications, the writing of the subject matter of fairy tales is in good qualifications and the writing of the sequence of story points is also classified as a good qualification. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the love-themed poetry of W. S. Rendra and Ardiansyah. The research method used is a qualitative method based on content analysis. The results of this study indicate that the elements that stand out in the concept of aesthetic development in the love-themed inner structure poetry. Poets are free to play words in order to beautify the poetry of poetry. The inner structure used is the inner structure of the theme, taste, tone and message. In conclusion, the four love-themed poems by W.S. Rendra and Ardiansyah have 52 quotes, including: 15 quotes containing concern and heartbreak, 14 quotes, while the tone and message are 13 and 10 quotes. Keywords: Rhymes Inner Structure

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implicatures in Bengkulu Malay greetings in Teluk Segara District, Bengkulu City. The method used is descriptive method. Based on the results of the research on the greeting implicatures in the Bengkulu Malay language greeting in the Teluk Segara sub-district, Bengkulu City, it can be concluded that there are 22 greeting implicatures which are divided into two, namely, a) conversation implicature with 3 data; b) conventional implicature as many as 19 data. Abstract

This study aims to describe the good and bad moral values ​​contained in the novel Imperpect by Meira Anastasia. This research was conducted using a structural approach because there is a relationship between the building elements, namely the intrinsic elements of the novel with moral values. Data analysis was carried out by classifying data, analyzing data, interpreting and drawing conclusions. The results of the study contained 49 data on moral values, consisting of 28 good morals and 17 bad moral values. The conclusion is that good morals in Meira Anastasia's novel Imperpect dominate more than bad moral values. Keywords: Good and Bad Moral Values, Novel, Structural Approach

Abstract

This study aims to describe the message in the novel Si Anak Badai by Tere Liye. Data collection techniques using literature study techniques. The results of the study show that various messages are contained in the quote from the novel Si Anak Badai by Tere Liye. In the form of delivery of the mandate is divided into 2 ways, namely directly and indirectly. The most dominant form of delivery of the mandate is direct. In conclusion, there are 12 mandates in the novel Si Anak Badai by Tere Liye, namely, a) independent; b) mutual help; c) be responsible; d) filial piety to parents; e) forgive; f) loyal friends; g) the importance of education; h) be patient; i) honest; j) confident; k) brave; l) repay evil with good. Abstract

This study aims to see the correlation between PUEBI mastery and biographical text writing skills by high school students. The research method used is correlation and is classified as quantitative research. The results showed that the average PUEBI mastery of students was 88.79 with very good qualifications, and the average student biographical text writing skills were 82.79 with good qualifications (t count greater than t table, namely 17.35 > 2.042). In conclusion, there is a significant relationship between PUEBI mastery and biographical text writing skills. Keywords: PUEBI, Biographical Text
