Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the improvement of learning outcomes and student interest at MA Ali Maksum students on skeletal system materials after the media Aves skeletal system was implemented in the class. This research was carried out by using  class action executed in two cycles. Every cycle consisted of planning phase, action, observation and reflection. The learning outcomes and students interest were obtained from test (pretest and postest) and questionnaires respectively. The results of this research showed that from cycle I and II, the improved learning outcomes was observed with percentage > 80%. Meanwhile, all student showed the high interest to study skeletal system materials due to of using instructional media of Aves skeletal system during learning process in the class. Finally, it can be concluded that using of Aves skeletal system as instructional media in the class was a quite effective.keywords: instructional media, skeletal system, learning biology

Abstract

Critical thinking is an intellectual process that actively and conceptually conceptualizes, implements, analyzes, synthesizes, and evaluates information gathered or generated from observation, experience, reflection, reasoning, or communication, to guide beliefs and actions. That's because with critical thinking, individuals can be trained to solve problems in different and diverse ways. Giving problems to be solved by the student can track the ability to think critically well, because to solve the problem, one must have the ability to think critically. The purpose of this research is to describe the students' critical thinking profile in solving a valid and reliable microbiological problem. The type of research used is descriptive research using qualitative approach. Subjects in this study were some students of Biology Education of Lambung Mangkurat University who have taken microbiology courses in 2014/2015 academic year, amounting to 6 students, students drawn from 3 high, medium, and low category based on the value of microbiology course. The results of this study indicate that the critical thinking level of Biology University students of Lambung Mangkurat is dominant in critical thinking with critical and critical category. Students who take the course of microbiology certainly have different levels of critical thinking on each person based on written assignments that have been given.

Abstract

Tujuan dalam Penelitian Tindakan Kelas ini adalah untuk mengetahui peningkatan keterampilan Mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Biologi IKIP PGRI Semarang dalam merancang kegiatan praktikum. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas, dengan lokasi penelitian pada Program Studi Pendidikan Biologi IKIP PGRI Semarang tahun ajaran 2012/ 2013 semester genap, waktu penelitian Maret-Juni 2013. Subjek dalam Penelitian Tindakan Kelas ini adalah Mahasiswa semester II E Program Studi Pendidikan Biologi pada matakuliah praktikum Taksonomi I. Data yang diperoleh dalam Penelitian Tindakan Kelas ini adalah keterampilan mahasiswa dalam merancang kegiatan praktikum, teknik yang digunakan untuk memperoleh data tersebut adalah melalui tugas mahasiswa dalam merancang kegiatan praktikum. Analisis data menggunakan teknik komparatif antar siklus, dan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas ini dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Hasil Penelitian Tindakan Kelas ini diketahui bahwa upaya peningkatan keterampilan mahasiswa dalam merancang kegiatan praktikum dapat dinyatakan berhasil, hal ini dapat diperhatikan setelah dilakukan komparasi antara hasil siklus I dan siklus II. Pada siklus I diketahui bahwa rata-rata kemampuan mahasiswa dalam merancang kegiatan praktikum adalah 74%, sedangkan pada siklus II rata-rata kemampuan mahasiswa dalam merancang kegiatan praktikum adalah 90%. Abstract

Water of river Bedadung in urban areas used by the local community for bathing, washing and toilet, and dispose of garbage and waste can be observed during the dry season. Whereas water of river Bedadung used by the Regional Water Company (PDAM) Jember as a raw water source in the area  of  Villa Tegal Besar estate District of Kaliwates. Besides the existing fish used for consumption by the public, both for their own consumption or for sale. The qualitative research with quantitative descriptive design. Location of research conducted by purposive sampling, the location of sampling carried out on three stations, namely: 1) Station 1 is located around the bridge Jl. Mastrip District of Sumbersari, 2) Station 2 is located in the vicinity of the bridge Jl. Ahmad Yani District of Sumbersari (or better known as the bridge "Gladak Twins", and 3) Station 3 located around the road bridge Imam Bonjol District of Kaliwates. Sampling was conducted in October 2015.The content of heavy metals Pb and Cd in fish brooms with AAS test, then the results compared with a maximum limit of heavy metal contamination in food in ISO 7387: 2009.The fish were caught as many as five types: fish “Sapu-sapu” (Hypostomus plecostomus), “Nila” (Oreochromis niloticus), “Lunjar Pari” (Rasbora argyrotaenia), “Wader” (Puntius brammoides), and Goldfish Comet (Carassius auratus). Based on the analysis with AAS test can be concluded that the Hypostomus fish caught in the river Bedadung on October 1, 2015 the average contains heavy metals amounted to 0.2563 ppm Pb and Cd of 0.172 ppm.

Abstract

Critical thinking abilities are one of the needed thinking skills to face the challenges of the 21st century. This research aims to determine the influence of the Stim-HOTs learning model toward student's critical thinking ability reviewed from the academic ability. Stim-HOTs is a learning model that can stimulate student's higher-order thinking skills, one of which is critical thinking. This research was a quasi-experimental research with posttest only nonequivalent control group design. The population of this research was all of the 11th-grade students of MIPA in SMA Negeri 5 Surakarta academic year 2019/2020. This research, using 2 classes for the sample, one class using Stim-HOTs learning model as experiment class, and the other class using discovery learning model as control class. The data were collected through a critical thinking essay instrument developed by Prihatiningsih that has been through expert validation. The data that has been tested for normality and homogeneity were analyzed by two-way ANOVA to test the hypothesis. The result using ANOVA two ways test shows 1) critical thinking ability based on learning model has a significant value higher than 0,050, 2) critical thinking based on academic ability has a significant value higher than 0,050, and 3) critical thinking based on learning model and academic ability has a significant value lower than 0,050. The research concluded that 1) Stim-HOTs learning model had a significant effect on critical thinking ability, 2) student's academic ability had a significant effect on critical thinking ability, and 3) there is no interaction between Stim-HOTs model and student's academic ability toward critical thinking ability.

Abstract

Abstract- In Indonesia, the use of microalgae is still lacking, therefore, the antibacterial and antioxidant activity of the extract fatty acids from microalgae Nannochloropsis sp. Nannochloropsis sp biomass. extracted by soxhletasi with petroleum ether and ethanol, whereas the fatty acid extraction method by Indonesian National Standard. Antibacterial activity by disc diffusion method and antioxidant activity using the method of reduction of free radicals (DPPH). The results showed that the petroleum ether extract showed antibacterial and antioxidant activity better than the ethanol extract. The results of the identification of fatty acids in petroleum ether extract was dodecanoic acid (18.88%), while the ethanol extract was hexadecanoic acid (14.02%). Keywords: antioxidant, antibacterial, fatty acid, Nannochloropsis sp

Abstract

The research aims to utilizing interaction earthworm with environment in the calcareous land. The research can be specified through a two-stage: the first year and second year. Results from our earlier studies aims: (1) to find out earthworm interaction with calcareous land, (2) identification of earthworm in calcareous land. Using three examples from different land: monoculture, polyculture, and agroforestry. The research data collected with 3 repetitions in every land. Measurement of micro climates include temperature, humidity, pH, and light intensity. Identification the type of earthworm consist of: the body shape, color, position and the form of klitelum, the prostomium, setae, and the position of genetal males and females. Identification using binocular microscopy at 10 to 40x magnification. Analysis correlation were tested to figure out the relationships between variables. If the correlation of relationship between variable is very real or real continued test by STEPWISE REGRESSION to find out the most influential environmental factors on earthworms living. The result of the research are: (1) Earthworm had very significant most correlation (significant = 0,01) with air humidity (r= 0,855), light intensity (r = - 0,825), and soil humidity (r = 0,60). Other environmental factors had a significantly small influence (pH, r =0,17; soil temperature, r = - 0,28; and temperature r = 0,03). Air humidity is the most influential environmental factors on earthworms living (2) identification of the types earthworm in different three land was found 2 species: Pontoscolex corethrurus and Metaphire javanica. In monoculture land is dominated by Metaphire javanica, whereas in Polikultur and Agroforestry land is dominated by Pontoscolex corethrurus. As a result, air humidity is the most influential environmental factors on the lives of earthworms and other environmental factors is relative small influence. On the calcareous land found two species of earthworm: Pontoscolex corethrurus and Metaphire javanica.

Abstract

Permasalahan pada guru terkait asesmen alternatif untuk memfasilitasi rasa tanggung jawab siswa terhadap masalah banjir adalah minimnya pemahaman dan pustaka acuan terkait asesmen alternatif tersebut. Adapun asesmen alternatif yang dimaksud adalah bentuk asesmen kinerja yang terkait dengan rasa tanggung jawab siswa terhadap masalah banjir, bentuk asesmen  untuk ranah penilaian afektif  yang terkait dengan rasa tanggung jawab siswa terhadap masalah banjir. Hal ini yang menjadi penyebab utama sehigga guru belum mengintegrasikan kegiatan penilaian ini dalam keseluruhan proses pembelajaran melalui proses penilaian yang dikenal dengan istilah asesmenn alternatif sehingga penilaian yang terjadi adalah penilaian yang sebenarnya atau disebut dengan otentik asesmen. Berdasarkan latar belakang permasalahan tersebut maka tujuan  akhir  (tahun ke 3) penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan asesmen alternatif dan rubrik penilaian asesmen alternatif, yang dapat digunakan guru untuk menumbuhkan rasa tanggung jawab siswa terhadap masalah banjir di Kota Samarinda. Tujuan tahun pertama penelitian yang dilaporkan dalam makalah ini adalah analisis kebutuhan untuk mengtahui pemasalahan  dan upaya guru terkait pemahaman, perencanaan, pelaksanaan baik asesmen alternatif maupun rubrik penilaian asesmen alternatif. Metode penelitian keseluruhan adalah pengembangan, dan diawali tahun pertama adalah survey dengan teknik wawancara dan dokumentasi sebagai bagian dari analisis kebutuhan. Analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif dengan pengkategorisasian dan interpretasi. Hasil penelitian diperoleh permasalahan guru terjadi pada pemahaman, perencanaan, pelaksanaan dan upaya mengatasi permasalahan terkait dengan asesmen alternatif dan rubrik penilaian asesmen alternatif.Keywords:asesmen alternatif, rasa tanggung jawab, masalah banjir

Abstract

Upaya mencari obat baru untuk mengobati penyakit malaria di negara Indonesia telah dilakukan, dimana banyak daerah endemis di Indonesia masih dijumpai penyakit Malaria seperti wilayah kepulauan Papua dan Maluku.Berbagai etnis di Indonesia memiliki khasanah budaya yang berbeda.Pada setiap etnis, terdapat beranekaragam kearifan lokal masyarakat, termasuk di dalamnya adalah pemanfaatan tumbuhan untuk pengobatan tradisional.Masyarakat adat kesultanan Jailolo merupakan salah satu etnis yang masih menggunakan tanaman sebagai obat tradisional.Pengetahuan lokal ini merupakan potensi untuk pengembangan obat dan ramuan anti malaria baru terstandar.Kebijakan terhadap pengembangan ramuan obat ini perlu dilakukan untuk menghindari maraknya Biopiracy dan Intellectual Property yang dilakukan oleh pihak luar terhadap kekayaan plasma nutfah Indonesia. Tumbuhan yang dimanfaatkan sebagai ramuan obat anti Malaria masyarakat adat Kesultanan Jailolo yaitu tumbuhan Justicia ganarussa, Alstonia scholais L. Carica papaya L. Orthosiphon aristatus, Tinospora crispa  Miers, Lansium domesticum, Ficus septica Brum L.Phyllanthus niruri L. dan Curcuma domestica Val.. Temuan penelitian ini yaitu masyarakat memanfaatkan 9 tumbuhan obat yang diramu dalam tiga ramuan campuran dan enam ramuan tunggal.

Abstract

ABSTRAK   Banyak mahasiswa yang  mengalami kesalahan konsep pada saat memprogram skripsi tentang keanekaragaman hayati terutama mengaplikasikan materi hubungan kekerabatan.  Pengertian konsep dan penerapan konsep dalam perkuliahan Taksonomi Tumbuhan Tinggi/TTT  tidak berbekas. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa masih tidak dapat menerapkan pengetahuan yang diperoleh.  Dengan munculnya permasalahan ini tampak bahwa kompetensi yang diharapkan dimiliki mahasiswa tidak muncul dalam jangka panjang (longterm memory). Dari  fakta di atas, pertanyaan yang muncul adalah “Bagaimanakah sebaiknya proses pembelajaran TTT terutama materi hubungan kekerabatan  agar pengetahuan yang telah diperolah pada mata kuliah TTT dapat bertahan lama dalam benak mahasiswa?” Oleh karena itu perlu dirancang  proses pembelajaran TTT yang dapat menjawab pertanyaan tersebut. Salah satu cara agar pengetahuan dapat bertahan lama dalam benak mahasiswa yaitu memberikan tugas yang menantang kemampuan mahasiswa dan memberi kesempatan  bekerjasama. Pembelajaran yang tepat untuk memfasilitasi hal tersebut  adalah Pembelajaran Berbasis Proyek (Project Based Learning). Kajian ini  bertujuan mendeskripsikan pelaksanan  penerapan pembelajaran berbasis proyek yang dianalisis secara deskriptif dengan jenis penelitian  eksperimen semu. Subyek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa pendidikan biologi angkatan 2010 yang berjumlah 41 mahasiswa.  Hasil penerapan  menunjukkan bahwa nilai tugas proyek yang terdiri dari tahap perencanaan, persiapan, koleksi, pembuatan laporan dan seminar hasil memiliki nilai yang baik dan mahasiswa mempunyai respon positif terhadap penerapan pembelajaran berbasis proyek.   Kata Kunci : pembelajaran, berbasis proyek, hubungan kekerabatan, TTT.
