Abstract

The pandemic COVID-19 has had many impacts on various aspects of people's lives in the world. One of the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic is on education around the world which has led to the closure of large schools, madrassas, universities and Islamic boarding schools. The spread of the virus which has spread very widely, the Indonesian government has issued social distancing and physical distancing policies to prevent more widespread transmission of the virus. So that the assessment and evaluation of learning in social distancing and physical distancing conditions carried out at home can use the remote assessment method. The purpose of writing this article is to find out how teachers evaluate students on distance learning during the pandemic COVID-19. The method used in this research was descriptive method. Descriptive method is a method used to describe, describe the phenomena that occur. This study used a quantitative approach. The quantitative approach aims to reveal something as it is (objective). The results that can be obtained from this study are distance learning teachers are very difficult to understand their students because during distance learning / offline the teacher can only provide a little material to students and the limited time given to the teacher during distance learning so that students also experience difficulties in receiving the lessons described by the teacher

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the scientific inquiry model to improve students' science process skills on the subject matter of elasticity and hooke's law. This type of research was a quasi experiment with a control group design pre-test post-test. The population of this study were all Eleven (XI) class Senior High School 18 Medan in 2019/2020 academic years. The research sample was taken by using cluster random sampling technique which took 2 classes from 4 classes, namely class XI MIPA 1 as the experimental class and XI MIPA 4 as the control class with 26 students each. The instrument used was a cognitive question in the form of an essay with 7 questions that had been validated first. Before learning was carried out pretest, based on the results of pretest data processing, the average value of the experimental class was 15.49 and the control class was 12.09. The results of the pretest conducted by hypothesis testing with t-test at a significant level = 0.05, it was found that the initial abilities of the two samples were the same in terms of science process skills. Furthermore, learning was carried out using the scientific inquiry learning model in the experimental class and conventional learning in the control class. After being given a different treatment model, the two classes conducted a postest to see the students' final abilities. The average value of the experimental class was obtained 78.24 and the control class was obtained 69.67. Based on the hypothesis test with the t-test, it was found that there was a significant difference, which means that there was a significant influence from the scientific inquiry model on science process skills accompanied by an assessment of students' science process skills activities.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Science, Environment, Technology, and Society (SETS) approach assisted by visual media on critical thinking abilities and scientific attitudes of students on biology subjects on the classification of living things. The research method used a quasi-experimental research sample of 2 classes determined by random sampling. Class VII1 as many as 32 students were taught with the approach of Science, Environment, Technology, and Society (SETS) assisted by visual media and class VII2 as many as 32 students were taught with conventional learning. The research instrument tests the form of critical thinking Cornell X which is based on Ennis and was independently developed by researchers and scientific attitude observation sheets. The data analysis technique used partial hypothesis testing at a significant level ∝ = 0.05. The results showed 1) There was a significant influence of the approach of Science, Environment, Technology, and Society (SETS) assisted by visual media on students' critical thinking skills (tcount = 2.37; ttable (0.05.62) = 1.66). 2) There is a significant influence of the Science, Environment, Technology, and Society (SETS) approach assisted by visual media on scientific attitudes (tcount = 3.88; table (0.05.62) = 1.66). The results showed that the level of thinking ability using the SETS approach assisted by visual media ((X) ̅ = 82.38) was higher than conventional learning ((X) 49 = 49.00). The results of the study also showed better scientific attitudes in the classroom the SETS approach assisted by visual media ((X) ̅ = 74.63) is better than conventional learning ((X) ̅ = 43.02). Thus, learning science with the SETS approach must continue to be developed because implementing SETS learning can improve students' critical thinking skills and scientific attitudes. Keywords: guided inquiry, dynamic fluid, learning outcomes

Abstract

This study aims to: a) to find out the validity of interactive teaching materials (3D Page Flip) by experts, b) to find out the validity of interactive teaching materials (3D Page Flip) by the audience. In this study also using a limited method (RnD), namely Limited Research and Development, namely by using two media experts and 10 junior high school students in The District Edge-Mandau grade VIII. The process of media development starts from media planning, media creation according to design, experiments and also revisions of the results of the experiment, in the process of developing interactive learning media (3D Page Flip) requires an application assistance in its implementation of 3D page flip application. In this study the instrument was given to two expert lecturers with a result of 81.6% with valid validation, feasible, appropriate and without revision. Instruments were also given to an audience of 10 junior high school students in grade VIII at SMP Subdistrict Pinggir- Mandau with a validation score of 95% with very valid results, very suitable and without refisi. The conclusion of this research is interactive teaching material (3D Page Flip) in science subjects in junior high school grade VIII semester 1 can be used as teaching materials in junior high school.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of usefulness of the Google Classroom application by distributing questionnaires to respondents. This research was a case study research. The results of the questionnaire were measured using a Likert scale. Google classroom was an open source application from Google that can be used for learning systems or can be called e-learning. This application is a new application and still a few are using it in the learning system in schools and colleges. From the measurement results it will be known the level of usability value of the google classroom application which was used as e-learning for students in the IKIP Gunungsitoli Building Engineering Education study program.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a major impact on the order of life, especially in the world of education. Following Government Policy, the face-to-face teaching system is now being transferred to the online system or known as the online system. The problems that arise in choosing the right method to use in the teaching and learning process in the midst of thispandemic are a dilemma for teachers. Some of the alternative applications offered must be adapted to the conditions of the school, teachers and students. The application used must be able to be accessed and understood by every teacher and student so that learning objectives can be achieved. The focus of this research is the use of Google Classroom media in online learning and its advantages and disadvantages. Researchers conducted field research with a descriptive qualitative approach to the learning process in schools. The results show that online learning through Google Classroom has advantages and disadvantages. The advantages include that teachers can use various media for the learning process, both those contained in the Google Classroom or other media that can be linked to the classroom. While the drawbacks are network problems and the limited quota that students have can be an obstacle in the learning process, as well as the low level of student activity in the learning process. Almost 31 students who answered the questionnaire stated that Google Classroom was not very effective because it certainly could not replace face-to-face meetings. Because there are many things that cannot be done through google classroom.

Abstract

The era of digitalization requires students to always be creative so as not to be out of date, one way is to improve problem-solving abilities. This research aims to improve students' problem-solving abilities by applying a problem-based learning model. The sample used was students of class X-1 as the experimental class and class X-2 as the control class selected using simple random sampling. This type of research is a quasi-experiment and the instrument of problem-solving ability used is in the form of an essay which consists of 8 questions. The results of the study concluded that the problem-solving ability in the experimental class using the problem-based learning model was better than conventional learning
