Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the students' science problem solving abilities class IX ondynamic electricity at SMP Negeri 3 Medan. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Inthe study, using the subject of 20 students. Technique the sampling used is random sampling. Theresults showed that. The science problem solving ability of class IX students at SMP Negeri 3Medan is still classified as low. This can be seen from the acquisition of research results as follows:at the stage identify the problem that is (33.25%), the percentage of the total stage of describing theproblem is (35 %), the total percentage of the planning stage of the solution is (65 %), the totalpercentage of the stage Implement problem solving solutions, namely (50%) and indicators Conductevaluations of (64.50%). Based on the results of the average score of the five stages, the averagescore the lowest student's science problem solving ability was at the stage of identifying problem.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the application of the TPACK framework by teachers in distancelearning at junior high schools in Medan. In this research also used a qualitative descriptive methodby providing a google form questionnaire to 10 junior high school teachers in the city of Medan.The data was obtained based on the answers to questions from 10 junior high school scienceteachers, where 7 teachers were public school educators and the other 3 teachers were educators inprivate schools from different schools. The process of collecting data through a questionnairecontaining questions that must be filled in by the teacher about their agreement or disagreementwith the questions given in the questionnaire (Likert scale). The questions made are invincible withthe TPACK aspect. Based on the instruments that have been developed, researchers have obtainedthat the teachers already know and apply TPACK in distance learning well through theunderstanding and abilities possessed by the junior high school science teachers in carrying out thelearning process in the classroom, especially on the topic of temperature and heat.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the influence of the application of   PBL SETS learning model on the learning outcomes of class VIII SMP Negeri 35 Medan and to determine the influence of the application of the  PBL SETS learning model on the student learning activities of class VIII students of 35th junior high school Medan. The Research type used was quasi-experimental type. The sample of this study was 60 students of class VIII 35th junior high school Medan. The experimental class was class VIII5  and control class was VIII6 . The  instrument of research used was in the form of 10 items of essay questions and student activity observation sheets. The  design of research used is the Nonequivalent Control Group design. The Research data collection techniques used were test and observation. The results of this study indicated a significant influence on learning outcomes of student. The average of  student learning outcome in experimental class was greater than in the control class, namely the experimental class value was 73.83 and the control class value was 44.9. The results of the t-test independent samples test showed that the two-tailed significance <0.005. The results of data analysis showed the implementation of the  PBL SETS learning model and approach  can increase student learning outcomes in class VIII of SMP Negeri 35  Medan on the subject of Pressure in Liquids and the application of the  PBL SETS learning model can improve the learning activities of class VIII students of 35th junior high school Medan on the material Pressure on Liquids.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of applying the PhET-Colorado-assisted problem-based learning (PBL) learning model on the learning outcomes and problem solving of junior high school students in class IX on Dynamic Electricity. The study was conducted using experimental quasi pretest-postest in one of the country’s junior high schools on the ground. Sample taking technique using purposive sampling. The research sample consisted of two classes each consisting of 32 students, class IX-J was an experimental class that applied the PhET-Colorado-assisted problem-based learning (PBL) model and class IX-D was a control class that applied study conventional. The research instrument used was a multiple-choice test with 4 answer choices to measure cognitive learning outcomes and description tests for students' problem-solving tests on dynamic material. The average pretest and posttest data on learning outcomes in the experimental class were 49.37 and 80.31, while those in the control class were 51.09 and 66.40, respectively. The average pretest and posttest data on student problem solving in the experimental class were 35.31 and 72.12, while in the control class they were 36 and 66.40, respectively. Data were analyzed using the Manova test (multivariate analysis of variance). Based on the hypothesis test, there are significant differences in learning outcomes and problem solving with the application of the PhET-Colorado-assisted Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on science material in junior high schools, so that there is an effect of the PhET-Colorado-assisted Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on learning outcomes and solving student problems. The percentage increase in N-gain learning outcomes in the experimental class was 62.09 in the medium category and the control class was 30.48 with the medium category, and problem solving in the experimental class was 56.90 with the medium category and the control class was 22 with the low category

Abstract

This study aims to see the feasibility based on the assessment of material experts, linguists & education experts, the responses of educators and students as well as the effectiveness of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) based students’ worksheet to improve the critical thinking skills at VIII SMP students. The sample of this study was students of class VIII-10, totaling 30 people. this type of research is research and development (R&D) using the ADDIE model. The instrument used in this study consisted of a material expert validation questionnaire, linguist & education expert, a questionnaire for educators and students' responses. The test is in the form of an essay to measure the level of students' critical thinking skills on the human excretory system material. Based on the results of the study obtained data from material expert validation of 70.16, validation of linguists & education experts 69.04 with each in the appropriate category. The response of students in the small group trial with a sample of 3 people was 75.97%, while in the limited group trial the percentage of student responses with a sample of 30 people was 77.79% with each criterion very feasible, so based on the results of the students’ worksheet validation This is suitable for use in the learning process. Students’ worksheet which is designed effectively to improve students' critical thinking skills, the results of students' critical thinking skills are obtained with an average N-Gain value of 0.77 with high criteria.

Abstract

This research aims to find out whether there was variation in students' procedural knowledge, the effectiveness of learning using a problem-based learning model assisted by mind mapping in improving the quality of students' learning, and their response to the model used. The implementation is at SMP Negeri 17 Medan. The population was all collages students of class VIII. The process of grouping samples was performed by way of random sampling method. The instructions decided on as studies subjects were class VIII-5 and VIII-6 with 32 college students. The type of research used was Quasi Experiment with a two-group pretest-posttest design. The method used in the statistics series procedure was the more than one preference take a look at device with a total of 20 questions. Through the results of the study, the average of pre-test score for the experimental class was 36.87 and 36.25 for control class and the average of post-test experimental class was 76.71 and control class was 60.46. This showed that there was a difference in procedural information among students who were taught the use of a trouble-based studying version and students who were taught the usage of conventional gaining knowledge of methods. The magnitude of the increase was 63% for the experimental class and 37% for the control class. Both are in the medium category and it was concluded that the problem-based learning model was effectively applied in the science learning process. Student responses to the model were on positive criteria where their response to the problem-based learning process was quite high with an average size of 85.39%.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of implementing the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model on the ability of scientific argumentation and how much influence the PBL learning model has on the scientific argumentation ability of students on environmental pollution material in class VII, 1st Junior High School Angkola Muaratais. This study uses a true experiment method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The population in this study were all students of class VII, with two samples, namely the experimental and control classes. There are two samples in this study, namely the experimental class and the control class. The sampling technique used is simple random sampling. Randomly selected samples were from classes VII-A and VII-B. The research instrument used is a scientific argumentation ability test instrument using five essay questions. Analysis of the data used in this study was performed by performing an independent sample t-test and a Cohen's d test. The results of the pretest showed that the initial abilities of students in grades VII-A and VII-B were the same. Class VII-A was chosen as the experimental class, and Class VII-B was chosen as the control class. After that, treatment was given using the PBL learning model in the experimental class and conventional learning using the lecture and question and answer method in the control class. Based on the posttest results, it was found that the PBL learning model had a significant effect on the ability of scientific argumentation on environmental pollution material in class VII 1st Junior High School Angkola Muaratais with a value of tcount > ttable (3.828 > 1.684) using the independent sample t-test test. The influence of the PBL learning model on students' scientific argumentation skills is categorized as strong, with a Cohen's d value of 1.168. It can be concluded that the PBL learning model can have a significant influence on students' scientific argumentation skills and the effect obtained is strong.

Abstract

During this pandemic, schools must continue to run by continuing to carry out Distance Learning. Based on the results of interviews conducted with science teachers at Junior High School PAB 2 Helvetia, there is a problem, namely the decrease in motivation due to online learning. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of video learning on increasing the science learning motivation of junior high school students in online learning. The method used in this research is the method of literature study or literature study. This study examines 20 national and international science journals about the effect of instructional video media on increasing science learning motivation of junior high school students. Data collection techniques in this study used documentation techniques from national and international journals. The data analysis technique used descriptive qualitative. From the results of research that examined 20 journals, it was found that there was an effect of learning videos on increasing motivation to learn science in junior high school students in online learning, where the existence of learning videos made students understand learning better because of the visual display so as to increase the ease of students in understanding science learning materials.

Abstract

This study explores the effect of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) learning using the EDP (Engineering Design Process) model on the attitudes of seventh-grade junior high school students on heat and temperature. This research is quantitative. The method used in this study is a quasi-experimental study with a one-shot case study design. The sample is 31 students from class VII-11 Public Junior High School at Samarinda City. Data collection techniques using a questionnaire technique. The results of the data analysis of the value of R square, the coefficient of determination is 39,6%, and the significant value in the simple linear regression test is 0,000. These results indicate that STEM learning with the EDP model affects student attitudes, so applying STEM to shape students' attitudes towards STEM is essential.

Abstract

Industrial revolution-based learning media 4.0 is urgently needed when it is in accordance with technological developments. The purpose of this research is to see the effectiveness of learning media based on Augmented Reality in learning. The research subjects were computer science study program students in the General Physics course, the type of research used was Research and Development (R&D) by applying the 4D model. The data collection technique used in this study was an assessment instrument with a questionnaire. Data analysis techniques were carried out to obtain good quality products that meet the aspects of validity, practicality and effectiveness. Based on the results of the study, it was obtained that AR-based learning media on material with special lens rays was valid, practical and effective so that it was concluded that it was feasible to use in learning
