Abstract

The aims of this study were to determine density and distribution pattern of ki-jing (G. virens) in Belawan Mangrove Ecosystem. Sample were collected with a smallsquares 1x1 m 2 as much as 45 with interval 1 m. The results of this study showed thehighest value of the density was found in station III 2.93 Ind /m 2 , while at the station I2.80 Ind / m 2 . The lowest one was found in station II 1.16 Ind / m 2 . Distribution patternof Kijing on station I and II was uniform with id value 0.645 and 0.958, on the contra-vy on station III was clumped with id value 1.421.

Abstract

The stratigraphy of bottom sediments was investigated in eastern waters of RupatStrait, Riau Province in June 2013. The analysis of sediment were conducted by twomethods i.e : grain-size analysis and ignition loss methods. The result showed that thevertical characteristic of bottom sediments changed irregularly. The vertical character-istic change of sediments was represented by the grain-size distribution, both verticallyand horizontally in the area. The similiarity of sediment characteristic among the sta-tions also represented by a cluster analysis. The cluster analysis showed that the sedi-ments were divided into four clusters which showed clearly the different of sedimentcharacteristic between station in this area.

Abstract

Density and growth pattern mangrove clam Geloina erosa (Solander 1786) inmangrove ecosystem Belawan, has been investigated in December 2013 - February2014. G erosa samples taken from three observation stations and each station observa-tions were made 3 replicates (months) sampling. The method used in determining thesampling point is the "purposive sampling". G. erosa samples were collected directlyby capturing by hand at the lowest tide. Result of the analysis data was the highestdensity of G. erosa at station 1 Nypah fruticants vegetation average of 3.207 individ-uals/m 2 , the lowest Heterogeneous vegetation at station 2 average of 1.362 individuals/m 2 . Allometric growth patterns show a pattern of negative (b <3).

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the consumer acceptance of catfish kama-boko with the addition of seaweed. A total of 10 kg catfish was obtained from one ofmarket in Pekanbaru city was processed into kamaboko. Four types of kamaboko weremade from catfish meat, corn starch, salt, onion, garlic, pepper and each of treatmentwas fortified with seaweed 0%, 5%, 10% and 15%. Parameters was observed on con-sumers acceptance and proximat analysis. The result showed that the catfish kamabokofortified with seaweed 15% was the best treatment and preferred by consumers with3.71% of organoleptik value, 70.41% of water content, 27.52% of protein, 2.79% ofash content, 2.99% of fat and 2.92% of crude fiber.

The aims of this study todetermine the facilities and activities as well as development possibility. The resultsshowed that the Fish Landing Places in District Bantan relatively has a few facilitiesand activities. The facilities that are available at the Fish Landing Places such as mar-keting space but the dock and fuel tanks and freshwater tanks do not all have it. Theutilization rate for each facilities generally between 3.6 to 71.66%. The Fish LandingPlaces activities are landing fish, fish marketing, supplies replenishment at sea and an-chor mooring. Abstract

This research was conducted in December 2013 at Topang island waters, Meran-ti Islands Regency, Riau Province. The study observed the structure of planktonic di-atoms community as well as the nitrate and phosphate concentrations of its adjacentwater. Four blocks were established during the study which located on the west, east, north and southern part of the island. The study recorded 5 genera of centrales diatomsand 4 genera of penales diatoms. The nitrate concentration ranged from 0.118 – 0.287ppm, while phosphate concentration ranged from 0.049 – 0.142 ppm. The highestabundance of diatom was founded in the west site of Topang island (1582.25 ind/L)and the lowest was in southern site of Topang island (969.41 ind/L). Chaetoceros andNitzschia were appeared as with the highest abundance. The study concluded thatTopang waters were categorized as oligotrophic waters.

Abstract

The purpose of the study to determine the distribution and growth patterns ofindo pacific tarpon fish (Megalops cyprinoides Broussonet, 1782) in Belawan River. This study was conducted in January-March 2014. Sampling was collected by purpo-sive sampling method. Sampling colected at 3 stations fishnet use with 30 times thestocking for each month. Distribution is calculated using the formula Khouw (2009)and the growth patterns using formulas King (1995). The results showed the analysisof Indo Pacific tarpon fish distribution uniform categorized months as earned valueid <1. Growth pattern of indo pacific tarpon fish is negative allometric means thelength faster than weight gain.

Abstract

Base on the survey and field visiting at the industry location, the state of traditional dockyardindustry in Bagansiapiapi is reported. Traditional dockyards use wood as raw materials for buildingsmall boat of less than 5 GT for cargo or passenger as well as fishing boats. The location of dockyard isbuilt open on the bank of riverine in the coastal area without any covered building. Even facilities in thetraditional dockyard as well as the way to the location are almost no any infrastructure to support it. Thedockyard persists on the wetland environment, swampy area, and unhealthy working condition. Themanagement of the dockyard is family wise as it belong to the one core family, but the boat craftmenmostly extent family. While the technology used mostly is not deliberately heritage from their ancient orotherwise from the long experiences working in the dockyard for many years. The main problem of thetraditional dockyard is the raw wood materials are scare so that difficul to get with high costly price, whilst capital to secure matereials stock unavailable. The consequence, three of four traditional dockyartsurveyed have already or stopping to product a new boat and frustrating to pace the future. The probableeffective idea way out of the situation is to use alterentive boat substitute material such as FRP. Thisidea will be verified by following studies on modern dockyard producing small boat with using alterna-tive non-wood material. It is necessary as a reference for the transformation of the traditional dockyardinto the modern one.
