Abstract

The damage rate of mangrove forests in Indonesia is considered as the fastest and largest in the world. The reduced density of mangroves can be influenced by the water quality and the organic matter content around the mangrove ecosystem, causing changes in the mangrove leaves both in the shape of the length and width. This study was conducted in the mangrove ecosystem in the western part of Dumai City, with the aim of determining the morphometric size of the leaves of Rhizophora apiculata and its relationship with the content of organic matter in the sediment. The method used in this study was survey method, where observations and sampling were performed directly in the field and some of samples were analyzed in the laboratory. Mangrove density obtained from the research results ranges from 1966.66 - 4700 ind/ha, organic matter content 10.88 -17.21%. The morphometric size of the leaf length varies from 13.03 - 15.05 cm, the leaf width varies from 4.65 - 5.42 cm, and the length of the petiole varies from 1.59 - 1.91 cm. There is no significant relationship between the mangrove leaf morphometric with sediment organic matter in the studied area.

Abstract

Pangasianodon hypophthalmus is a type of freshwater fish that has potential and has economic value. Its production target which increases every year causes farmers to spawn with the help of hormonal stimulation. The aimed of this research was to test and find out the results of the use of three different hormones namely Ovaprim, Spawnprim, and HCG in P. hypopthalmus spawning. This research was conducted in January 2020 at the Trimurjo Fish Seed Center, Central Lampung. This research used a randomized complete design method with the 3 treatments, P1 (Ovaprim 0,5 ml / kg), P2 (Spawnprim 0,5 ml / kg), P3 (HCG 500 IU / kg) and 3 replications. The results of this research indicate a significant difference (p <0,05) in the relative fecundity parameters, fertilization rate, and hatching rate, but not significantly different in the parameters of latensi periode and diameter of eggs. In P1, Ovaprim hormone injections provide better reproductive performance compared to Spawnprim and HCG injections.

Abstract

The Media is a material consisting of a mixture of nutrients used by microorganisms to grow and breed. Molasses and liquid waste know one of the alternative media which has the least inexpensive carbon source and is easily obtained from the waste food industry that is rich in nutrients and minerals, so it has the potential for bacterial growth of Bacillus cereus. The consetration of molasses used for growth medium is 1%; 1.5%; and 2% while liquid waste knows 8%, 10%, and 12%. Cell growth is measured by the method of Spectrophotometry, total plate count (TPC) and biomass while the incubation period of cell growth is measured every 0, 6, 12, 18, and 24 hours. The results showed from the molasses + skim milk and the tofu liquid waste + skim milk, the best medium of bacterial cell growth of B. cereus is a liquid waste know isolates K 12%. While the best growth concentrations molasses Medium bacterial B.cereus was N2% and K2%.

Abstract

Diesel engine is one type of piston motor fuel, whose fuel combustion occurs due to high air pressure in the combustion chamber. The combustion process diesel engine generates heat energy and raises the high pressure in the cylinder, the pressure is comverted to mechanical energy on the crankshaft. Then the cooling system is needed on the main engine. The cooling system is one system that functions to maintain the engine temperature at a certain temperature in accordance with the design specified so that the diesel engine can operate sustainably. This research work aims to find out how to work the ship’s cooling system, to find out how to maintain the ship’s cooling system, to find out the interference that occurs in the cooling system and to make repairs. The working of the cooling system at KM Sumber Fortuna use a cooling system indirectly / closed by using a heat excanger as a place to heat the heat excanger media by circulating fresh water to the entire machine to remove heat arising from combustion and friction in the engine. The method of maintenance is carried out with the duty service for 4 hours, the service carried ou is to check all the engine components in KM Sumber fortuna. While the damage occurred in the seawater suction pipe which had leaked in the pipe binder and replaced the leaked pipe by cutting the new pipe or hose and clamping the pipe / hose on the suction side of the heat exchanger.
