Abstract

Catfish is one of the commodities with promising prospects for development, both in hatchery and grow-out activities. One of the challenges in catfish farming is the high mortality rate of intensively raised fish without water exchange. In order to increase production, the implementation of good cultivation technologies is necessary to maximize the results. One such technology that can be used is the Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS). This study aims to analyze the effects of RAS using lettuce plants as biofilters on the growth and survival of Clarias gariepinus catfish. The test animals used in this study were Clarias gariepinus catfish sourced from Beta Fish Lingsar Farm, with seed size ranging from 7-8 cm. The study was conducted with three treatments (plots): pond 1 = RAS with lettuce biofilter at a stocking density of 1000 individuals, pond 2 = RAS with a stocking density of 1000 individuals, and pond 3 = RAS with a stocking density of 500 individuals. The results of the study showed that the use of the RAS system had an impact on the growth and survival of the fish. The RAS system with lettuce biofilter was able to increase the Specific Growth Rate (SGR) by 6.02% and reduce fish mortality rate with a Survival Rate (SR) value of 62.8%. Based on these findings, the use of RAS with plant biofilters can be further developed on a larger scale in aquaculture.

Abstract

Koi fish (Cyprinus carpio) is one of the potential freshwater ornamental fish commodities that can be cultivated. This freshwater ornamental fish has several advantages, including easy maintenance, ability to survive in low oxygen water, and ability to produce high-quality eggs. The purpose of this research is to assess the feasibility of the breeding activities conducted at BBI Batu Kumbung through economic analysis. The research method used in this study is "Descriptive Comparative Method". Based on the research findings the economic analysis conducted includes assumptions, Total Costs Rp. 39.304.000, Sales Revenue Per Cycle Rp. 64.200.000, Income Per Cycle Rp. 24.896.000, R/C Ratio 1.63, Break-Even Point Price Rp. 1.224 per fish, Break-Even Point Production 19.652 and Payback Period 6.3 months. Based on the business analysis, the production of koi fish seeds at BBI Batu Kumbung can be considered feasible and has the potential for development, as it can provide good profits with a good Return on Investment (ROI).

Abstract

Seaweed commodities are one of the products in the fisheries and marine sector that has the potential to be developed. One type is sea grape or commonly known as Caulerna lentillifera which is very widely spread in waters throughout Indonesia. This research method is descriptive quantitative, this research was conducted to determine the heavy metal content in natural sea grapes and cultivated sea grapes. The research procedure consisted of pre-research process to observation and checking of heavy metal content. The results of research on heavy metal content of cultivated sea grapes get good results, while for nature there are levels of heavy metals Pb so it can be said that it is not very good. The results of measuring the length of ramuli in the first week was 3.3 cm, the second week was 4.4 cm then increased in length in the third week to 5.8 cm, and ended in the fourth week with an increase in length of 6.9 cm. The results of the calculation of the number of ramuli in week 1 showed that the average number of ramuli was 12, the average number of ramuli in the first week increased to 14 in the second week and increased in the third week to 17 then ended in the fourth week with an average of 19 ramuli. The quality of water used in the cultivation of sea grapes in Musi Village and natural sea grapes is still in normal status.

Abstract

The seagrass ecosystem is an ecosystem that is very important to support the sustainability of the biota that take shelter in it. The seagrass ecosystem is known as one of the areas that is vulnerable to damage. Various human activities, such as fishing and industrial activities can trigger this damage. This study aims to provide information regarding the description and level of degradation of the seagrass meadow ecosystem in Uwedikan Village. The method used is random sampling method. The results showed that there were 5 species of seagrass found, namely Enhalus acoroides, Thalassia hemprichii, Cymodocea Serullata, Cymodocea rotundata and Halophila ovalis. Seagrass cover averaged 40.60% at Tanjung Balean and 33.1% at the Tambatan Perahu. This is included in the moderate/less rich category. The highest seagrass cover was for Thalassia hemprichii with a total of 2,169 individuals at Tanjung Balean and 1,453 at the Boat Mooring. The relationship of water parameters, namely temperature, degree of acidity (pH) and brightness greatly affect the growth of seagrass ecosystems. In particular, the temperature at the two locations obtained different values, namely 29--30.5°C at Tanjung Balean and 30--35.3°C at the Tambatan Perahu.

Abstract

Silkworms, as natural food, have an essential role because they can stimulate fish growth. However, silkworms in nature are not always available all year round, so it is necessary to cultivate silkworms. Silkworms need a medium containing organic matter and inorganic matter for their growth. Catfish farming wastewater contains a lot of organic matter. This study aims to evaluate the effect of catfish farming waste (Clarias sp.) on the growth of silkworms (Tubifex sp.) in different initial biomasses. This research method uses the experimental method Complete Randomized Design with four treatments and three repeats. The treatment used is P1 = 15 grams of silkworms; P2 = 20 grams of silkworms; P3 = 25 grams of silkworms; and P4 = 30 grams of silkworms. For analyzing data use ANOVA with a 95% confidence level and the Lower Significance Difference test on SPSS. The results showed that the provision of catfish farming waste had a real influence on the growth of silkworms. Silkworms' absolute weight and biomass were highest in treatment four, which were 195.33 g and 0.112 g. Therefore, catfish farming waste has the potential to be used as raw material for silkworm feed.
