Abstract

Understanding (reading) the literature in this paper is intended to read literature in order to capture the author's intentions behind his impressive work; reading literature by understanding the contents and context of the narrative in literary texts (Priyatni, 2010) The content and context of literature is very complex because it is packaged in a complex code system, namely language codes, social codes, cultural codes, and literary codes (Teeuw, 1988). To understand literary texts with critical thinking, readers should have knowledge and understanding of these codes. The reader does not merely understand the language codes at the grammatical level, but more than that understands cultural codes as product and literary codes.

Abstract

Indonesian language as the identity of the Indonesian people can actually build the character of nationalism. Early Indonesian nationalism was sparked by colonialism as a common enemy. The originator of Indonesian nationalism today is a shared identity. The Indonesian language is one of those shared identities, alongside the flag, the state emblem and the national anthem. To strengthen the role of Indonesian in strengthening nationalism, it is necessary to have an output-oriented Indonesian language education that has a nationalist character, patriotism, and a sense of responsibility for the life of the Indonesian language. Indonesian language education must be able to reduce the pragmatism of the view on the importance of the Indonesian language, minimize the deviation from regulation on the Indonesian language, and foster the principle of learning Indonesian to achieve the Indonesian language in a global context.

Abstract

This study describes and explains marginalisation strategy through discourse as social practice in Indonesian language, as reflected in language behavior appearing in the form of euphemism, disphemism, labelisation, and stereotype, one the basis of library research. The result of study shows that marginalisation strategy through discourse as social practice in Indonesian language designates the power dominance of upper level social class towards lower level social class. The manfestation of the marginalisation strategy is stated and implied in the use of the following words or terms (a) ;pemutusan hubungan kerja’ replacing ‘pemberhentian’ or ‘pemecatan’ (euphemism) in economy discourse, (b) ‘pencaplokan’ or ‘penyerobotan’ with the conotation of negative meaning (diphemism) in political discouse, (c) ‘penggarap liar’ and ‘penyerobot lahan’ with the negative meaning (labelisation) in political discourse, and (d) ‘perempuan’ with the negative meaning and ‘wanita’ with the positive meaning (stereotype) in social and cultural discourse .

Abstract

This paper provides the result of study exploring some barriers hampering the development program of cultural tourism in East Nusa Tenggara. The materials of this study were based on data collected through field and libary research. The result of the study shows that barriers hampering the development program of cultural tourism in East Nusa Tenggara are due to the lack of society’s undestanding on the esense of culture, the lack of society’s knowledge on the signifince of culture, the lack of society’s appreciation on their own culture. This paper might be beneficial to enrich the sources of reference for the government and the society of East Nusa Tenggara in developing the programs of cultural tourism.

Abstract

This poem is written, as a form of concern, disappointment, frustration, resentment, anger over the mindset, behavior, habits, and actions that burden and impoverish them all. Everything they have, such as land, fields, and rice fields, is sold out for useless purposes such as traditional parties, deaths and funerals, pulling stones, building traditional houses, and so on. The education of children and grandchildren is not even ignored. Generations of children and grandchildren encourage their ancestors and parents to hear complaints and hopes for their future. They expect to be sent to school to change their future which is still very long. They expect their ancestors to pass on to them an intelligent and great generation. They expect God to help and bless them.

Abstract

Model Pembelajaran Team Games Tournament (TGT) sebagai salah satu model pembelajaran interaksi sosial bermakna membentuk kecukupan diri (self-efficasy) siswa sebagai kemampuan spesifik yang dimiliki untuk mengontrol tuntutan lingkungan atau situasi yang mendasar untuk menang dalam turnamen sebagai hasil belajar. Pengembangan model pembelajaran ini didasarkan pada pandangan-pandangan sosio-kognitif bahwa semakin tinggi intensitas interaksi sosial semakin kuat pembentukan mental kognitif untuk mengatur tindakan dalam memecahkan masalah dan mencapai tujuan. Semakin besar kaptaasitas akademik semakin kuat kekuasaan dalam interaksi sosial berdasarkan acuan kebenaran dan aturan yang telah ditentukan. Kesadaran intensional paling tinggi pada tim terjadi dalam turnamen. Kekuatan persaingan terletak pada kemampuan mempertahankan intensi ekspetansi dari setiap tindakan individu (siswa) dalam timnya. Reaksi kelompok menimbulkan dampak langung pada dua kemungkinan yakni self-conffidience atau sebaliknya terjadi self-correction pada kelompok lain. Self-conffidience terjadi apabila reaksi sosial berada di dalam kekuasaan kelompoknya. Sementara, self-correction akan timbul apabila reaksi sosial berada di luar kekuasaan kelompoknya. Proses ini efektif membentuk perilaku yang permanen dan berdaya saing tinggi bagi siswa.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji karakteristik dan dinamika sistem pertanian lahan kering dalam kebudayaan Manggarai, lambang identitas masyarakat Manggarai sebagai anggota kelompok etnik Manggarai di Flores Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur. Kerangka teori yang memayungi penelitian ini adalah teori kebudayaan dan teori perubahan kebudayaan. Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif. Prosedur penelitian adalah penelitian lapangan dan kepustakaan. Penelitian lapangan bertujuan mendapat data primer sebagai data utama. Lokasi penelitian adalah wilayah Manggarai dengan lokasi utama kota Ruteng. Sumber data adalah masyarakat Manggarai, khususnya yang tinggal di kota Ruteng yang diwakili lima orang informan kunci. Metode pengumpulan data adalah pengamatan dan wawancara, yang dielaborasi dengan teknik rekam, elisitasi, dan simak-catat. Penelitian kepustakaan bertujuan mendapat data sekunder. Metode pengumpulan data adalah studi dokumenter. Data dianalisis secara kualitatif dengan metode induktif, analisis bertolak dari data menuju konsep/teori yang bersifat lokal-ideografis berupa perian tertulis karakteristik dan dinamika sistem pertanian lahan kering dalam kebudayaan Manggarai. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, sistem pertanian lahan kering dalam kebudayaan Manggarai pada masa silam memiliki karakteristik khas dan khusus, sebagaimana tercermin dalam nama dan bentuk lahan pertanian, jumlah dan jenis lahan pertanian, teknik pengolahan lahan pertanian, jenis tanaman, dan taksonomi klafikasi musim. Akan tetapi, bersamaan dengan dinamika masyarakat Manggarai, fungsi kebudayaan Manggarai sebagai lambang identitas masyarakat Manggarai mengalami perubahan dalam tataran tertentu. Perubahan itu dapat disaksikan, antara lain, dalam perubahan sistem pertanian lahan kering, sebagaimana tercermin dalam fenomena perubahan berkaitan dengan nama dan bentuk lahan pertanian, jumlah dan jenis lahan pertanian, teknik pengolahan lahan pertanian, jenis tanaman pertanian, jenis tanaman, dan taksonomi klafikasi musim.

Abstract

Studi tentang fungsi dan makna alegori dalam teks syair su’i uwi dengan menggunakan pendekatan ekokritik sastra menempatkan bahasa dan sastra lisan dalam koridor kesadaran akan lingkungan kehidupan, baik hayati maupun sosial budaya. Ekokritik merupakan salah satu prinsip dalam ekolinguistik dialektikal yang digagas oleh Halliday (2001) dengan mengkritisi bagaimana sistem bahasa berpengaruh pada perilaku penggunanya dalam mengelola lingkungan. Menurut Halliday bahasa dan lingkungan merupakan dua hal yang saling mempengaruhi. Halliday juga berpijak pada interelasi bahasa dan lingkungannya seperti yang diformulasikan oleh Jorgen Chr Bang dan Jorgen Door (1993) dalam mengenalkan teori dialektikal ekolinguistik. Teori dialektikal tersebut kemudian melahirkan pendekatan ekokritik sastra dengan dua pendekatan yakni wacana dan realita untuk mengungkapkan makna tekstual dan faktual yang terkandung dalam teks. Hasil analisis menunjukkan data tekstual berupa kisah perjalanan kehidupan para leluhur sampai di Ngadha dan secara faktual dengan menggunakan alegori alam, tumbuhan, dan hewan serta peristiwa perjalanan, teks su’i uwi menampilkan kisah perjalanan batin menuju kehidupan yang lebih berkualitas dengan keberpihakan kepada pelestarian bumi dan ekosistem yang ada di dalamnya. Terdapat 4 makna alegori yakni, ekologis, sosial, hukum adat, dan religious. Makna ekokritik yakni makna ekopolitik berupa saran agar para pembuat kebijakan di daerah Ngadha memiliki political will yang bersandar pada akar tradisi su’i uwi. Political will dari Pemerintah Daerah dalam mendukung ritus-ritus budaya seperti reba. sehingga upaya melestarikan bumi dan ekosistem yang terkandung didalam teks-teks tersebut menjadi informasi baru yang terbarukan karena kembali dicanangkan dalam setiap pelaksanaan ritus reba.

Abstract

Most Indonesian wards are formated through derivation process. The Derivation process has an impact on changing categories, forms, and meanings. Each dervative word generaly has a linear meaning relationship with the basic word. Word shape changes generaly have certain pattern that are regular so that produce consistent rules of word formation. There are two problems in this reseach, (1) how is the relation between the meaning of the word belajar dan pelajar with the basic word ajar?; (2) how is the morphological process of forming the word belajar and pelajar?. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the meaning of the word belajar and pelajar with the basic word ajar, and the morphological process of forming word belajar and pelajar. The method used is deskriptive method because the object of this study is the language that is alive and used by the speakers. The result of the research that (1) the relation of word meaning belajar and pelajar is not linear with the basic word but is opositive, (2) the process of changing phonem /r/ to /l/ in words belajar and pelajar the reason cannot be explained morphophonemically; resulting in idiosyncrasy. To avoid idiosyncrasy, it is better to belajar word and pelajar recorded as an entry in Indonesian standard dictionary.

Abstract

The religion of Christian has been came in Amarasi. In the beginning, people in Amarasi had ethno-religion called re’u. The Portuguese brought the catholic and Holland brought protestant. When the Holland came in Timor, the Portuguese had been there. Times, both of them wared. In that time Amarasi’s king built a friendship with Portuguese, so the Holland, war not only with the Portuguese but Amarasi too. In the same time the society had been catholic because the influence from the Portuguese. Finally, Amarasi and Portuguese losed in the Penfui war. The king of Amarasi put down the catholic and took up the protestant, because the Holland pushed. So, the society called koroh natiik maria and they drawed in their traditional clothes. Nowadays, the society know the koroh natiik maria is a kind of symbol to their clothes that they called tais. Koroh, is the symbol of the king and kingdom, and maria is the symbol of catholic. This paper used history approach with library study.
