Abstract

The Motion picture industry is somehow a unique industry when compared to other industries. Ticket prices for all films are the same, because of that price is not the main variable in decision making for watching a film. A review can become one of the most powerful variable when choosing which film to watch by the customer. Other than that, different from other industries and products, reviews that come in the form of narrative and detailed expositions tend to be avoided by customers because it will ruin the satisfaction of watching films activity due to leakage of information from the film plot and storyline. One that can be an aid for film customer is online review aggregator’s score that accumulated from a bunch of scores that are given from either critics or fellow customer and it made online review aggregator viewed as a more objective reviewer. This study aims to find whose review at the online review aggregator website will be more influential on customer purchase intention of Indonesia’s moviegoers. Data of 220 Indonesia’s millennial generation were retrieved and analyzed during the research. This research finds out that customers in Indonesia can be influenced by score or rating that comes from online review aggregator, an equally good review from critics and customer can increase customer purchase intention and vice versa. Furthermore, customer’s score or rating is the one more influential by a small margin compared to the score from critics.

Abstract

A multi-objective distribution routing algorithm by using modified Clarke and Wright Saving algorithm is presented. The problem to solve is to deliver loads to a number of outlets based load requirement. The objective function to minimize is the distance saving and traveling time of the resulted route started from depot to the outlets and return to the original depot. Problem to solve is generating a distribution route in a week considering traffic condition for each day. The original Clarke and Wright saving algorithm is modified such that the resulted routes (from a depot to some outlets) accommodates some constraints such as the maximum allowable traveling time, maximum number of delivery shifts, and maximum number of vehicles. The algorithm is applied to a distributor company with nine outlets, two vehicles, and two delivery shifts. In addition, the traffic condition on the outlet-to-outlet and the depot-to-outlet routes is considered. The simulation of the proposed algorithm shows that the algorithm can generate routes that comply with shift’s maximum delivery time and the vehicles’ capacities.

Abstract

Medicines can be considered the most widely used medical expenditures in hospitals. To reduce the medicines expenses in the hospital, the term of inventory control is applied. Medicines must be controlled by considering the expiry dates and the probabilistic demand from the customers. Therefore, it is necessary to develop an inventory model that can be suitable to control medicines by minimizing the expired medicines, total inventory costs, and dealing with unpredictable demand. The purpose of this research is to develop an inventory model for determining optimum replenishment time and order quantities and space requirements for multi-item medicines with consideration of expiry dates of the medicines and all medicines are being purchased in a single purchase order so that the total inventory costs in hospitals can be minimized. The result is that the proposed inventory model results in optimum space requirements and the lowest inventory costs. Therefore, hospitals must order medicines based on the optimum order quantity.

Abstract

This paper targets two improvement aspects of the electrical discharge machining (EDM) process. First, it formulates the EDM problem as an economic issue incorporating the present worth analysis into the factor-level framework and solves it with the performance analysis flow diagram. Second, it conceptualizes the EDM process as imprecision and uncertainty and solves it with the fuzzy analytical hierarchy process (FAHP) approach. At present, these methods are not accessible to the EDM process engineer to machine the work material, AA6061/10%Al2O3AMMCs. In this study, the EDM process application using these methods on AA6061/10%Al2O3AMMCs is considered. This paper investigates the use of fuzzy AHP multi-criteria and the present worth method to produce a structured approach to model multi-response problem of EDM process parametric optimization concerning composite named AA6061/10%Al2O3AMMCs to obtain a robust design and the best parametric selection. The selected performance measures for the inputs to attain the performance flow analysis using the present worth method are MRR = 17.932 to 31.753 mg/min, TWR = 0.171 to 0.289 mg/min, SR = 8.228 to 12.680 mm and OV = 0.292 to 0.406 mm. The performance flow analysis reveals a present with a value of 1.604 based on the equivalence analysis of the flow diagram's positive and negative sides. The FAHP results showed the enhanced values of 0.1051, 0.2290, and 0.6658 for peak current, pulse on time, and duty factor, respectively. The approach is novel and has not been implemented elsewhere to solve the problem for the combination of materials studied.

Abstract

Concentration is the ability needed to solve a problem.  Students in learning also need concentration (DePorter et al., 2010). Unfortunately students have difficulty concentrating on doing a job. To help concentrate, students play pen, spin coins, play cellphones and other fun activities. To meet this goal, an agitated repellent device such as fidget spinner and fidget cube was made (Plafke, 2016). The benefits of spinner fidget for increasing concentration are still questionable (Schecter et al., 2017). Therefore, quantitative research is needed to prove the claim that fidget spinner can increase concentration. Unfortunately, there is currently no quantitative research that tests the effectiveness of these tools to increase short-term memory. The concentration level of a person can be measured using the Stroop test. Stroop tests utilize primitive cognitive operations, offering clues to the basic process of attention. The variable studied is Reaction Time for Correct Answer (RTCA), which is the amount of reaction time in answering correctly divided by the number of correct answers. The results of this study are the use of fidget spinner not having a significant effect on differences in the results of measurement of RTCA. The use of fidget spinner does not provide a significant difference in average error between not using fidget spinner and using fidget spinner.

Abstract

When a product reaches its maturity in its life cycle, some innovations have to be put in that product in order to lengthen its life cycle. Otherwise, that product will be perceived as obsolete. It might affect the demand of that product i.e. the demand become decreasing. Based on the observation that we conducted over two smart phone brands, the phenomena that the demand has declining pattern really happened in the real situation. In addition, the observation shows that the product life cycle is getting shorter. This implies that the manufacturer has to deal with decreasing demand more often. A case study is presented in this paper, in which manufacturer experienced final product with decreasing demand pattern. Some lot sizing techniques, such as Lot for Lot, Silver Meal 1, Silver Meal 2, Least Unit Cost, Part Period Balancing, and Incremental, are tested to solve the inventory policy for both final product (parent) and its components (child). It is concluded that a company should not consider only one component or one level whenever deciding the inventory policy, i.e. production lot size. It is shown by the case study that the best lot sizing technique for a particular parent of product whenever the company only consider the parent is different with the best lot sizing technique whenever the company consider the parent and its child. For the case presented, it is shown that the smallest total cost of parent and child is most likely occurred whenever Silver Meal 2 lot sizing technique is applied in the parent with decreasing demand pattern.

Abstract

The massive use of information systems and digital applications drives the growth of e-commerce, including online shops in marketplaces. However, some of the online shops are not successful. To improve their performance, the success factors of the online shops should be recognized. This study develops a model of online shop success factors. Unlike the other researches that use customer preference data from surveys, this study uses user interface analytics to develop the model. A marketplace operated in Indonesia was selected as the case study. The study begins with a scraping process of the data available at online shops' user interfaces in the marketplace. After data cleaning, outliers handling, and data clustering by product category, a series of multiple regression analyses are performed to get the model estimates. Eight variables are defined to develop the model, i.e., product price, percentage of responded chat, shop joining time in the marketplace, number of product types, number of raters, shop rating, shop reputation, and number of followers. The results of the multiple regression process show that the model estimate is specific for every product category. The final model can be used as a reference by the online shop sellers to develop their strategy to improve their shop performance. Moreover, the results also prove that user interface analytics is effective in estimating the performance factors of online shops in a marketplace.

Abstract

The multidimensional knapsack problem (MKP) is a generalization of the classical knapsack problem, a problem for allocating a resource by selecting a subset of objects that seek for the highest profit while satisfying the capacity of knapsack constraint. The MKP have many practical applications in different areas and classified as a NP-hard problem. An exact method like branch and bound and dynamic programming can solve the problem, but its time computation increases exponentially with the size of the problem. Whereas some approximation method has been developed to produce a near-optimal solution within reasonable computational times. In this paper a pigeon inspired optimization (PIO) is proposed for solving MKP. PIO is one of the metaheuristic algorithms that is classified in population-based swarm intelligent that is developed based on the behavior of the pigeon to find its home although it had gone far away from it home. In this paper, PIO implementation to solve MKP is applied to two different characteristic cases in total 10 cases. The result of the implementation of the two-best combination of parameter values for 10 cases compared to particle swarm optimization, intelligent water drop algorithm and the genetic algorithm gives satisfactory results.
