Abstract

Language became a very essential aspect of human life as a result of the growth of a very large era at this time. Particularly in the usage of English as an international language. However, along with changes and improvements in social, cultural, and economic factors, tourism has also established the tourism sector as one of the most important factors for the global community, particularly for the people of South Nias, which still preserves and presents natural and cultural beauty that remains intact even in the midst of modernity. Of course, the existence of current tourists will elicit a favorable response. Thus, to prevent this from happening, a solution is needed, namely by providing teaching or socialization in the form of training of tour guide for the next generation. The community services program organized by Warmadewa University and Nias Raya University which aim to educate and increase the interest of the younger generation regarding the preservation of the tour guide and the awareness of tourism destination, this also has a relationship with cultural and linguistic aspects. This article used descriptive qualitative methodology to describe real-world occurrences that occur in a community. The data were gathered by observation, interviews, and documentation. As a consequence of this service, the younger generation is interested in tour guide profession in order to preserve one of the world's acknowledged of tourism in Nias Island especially for the students of English language study program at Universitas Nias Raya.

Abstract

Bahasa Inggris diperlukan di hampir setiap bidang kehidupan, termasuk di bidang dunia pendidikan, dunia kerja, dunia bisnis, dll. Dengan menguasai bahasa Inggris, orang memiliki peluang besar untuk mendapatkan pekerjaan di berbagai kesempatan. Salah satu komunitas belajar di Bali yang memberikan pembelajaran di luar sekolah, yaitu Komunitas Kambodja Rumah Belajar. Komunitas ini memberikan kegiatan pembelajaran kepada anak-anak di desa Suwung. Desa Suwung merupakan salah satu desa yang terletak di Kecamatan Denpasar Selatan, Kota Denpasar Provinsi Bali yang berjarak 500meter sebelah selatan pusat kota. Anak-anak binaan di desa Suwung dikelola oleh Komunitas Kambodja Rumah Belajar. Namun, tenaga pengajar di komunitas tersebut masih harus dimaksimalkan karena tenaga pengajar merupakan para relawan. Selain itu, anak-anak di desa Suwung mengalami kesulitan dalam belajar bahasa Inggris. Berdasarkan fenomena inilah Magister Ilmu linguistik Universitas Warmadewa mengambil bagian melalui kegiatan PKM dengan mengadakan program Pengajaran Bahasa Inggris Kepada Anak Anak Binaan Di Desa Suwung Yang Dikelola Komunitas Kammbodja Rumah Belajar.

Abstract

The tour guide profession has become the most essential element of the tourist sector. On the other hand, Professional tour guides must undergo extensive training. Tourism has established itself as one of the most important factors for the global community, particularly for the people of South Nias, who still preserve and present natural and cultural beauty that remains intact even in the midst of modernity, alongside changes and improvements in social, cultural, and economic factors. The presence of present tourists will, of course, generate a favorable response. Technically, the method used in this research was qualitative research through the interview stage to find out partner problems. The source of data used in this study is primary data by conducting field observations to find out the problems faced by the students of English Language Study Program in Nias Raya University. The results showed that there was an increase in understanding the tour guides profession and being able to describe instructions or tourist attractions in practice.

Abstract

Education is a process that supports self-development and formation, making it possible to cope with all changes and problems with an open mind and creative approach without losing identity. This community provides Ice Breaking to Help the Children in Suwung Village in Starting the Process of Self-Establishment. This Community service Program activity aims to provide learning that can help the fostered children in Suwung Village, provide learning in a pleasant atmosphere to be applied to the fostered children in Suwung Village, and provide knowledge about models, media, and learning techniques—needed by the foster children in Suwung Village in the learning community in Suwung Village. The method of this community service is the program offered to partners in the icebreaking learning model. This learning model is carried out in two ways: playing together and singing as explained by Setyawan (2015) that icebreaking was carried out with two events, namely playing and singing. The result of this community service program show that the problems faced by partners are the lack of learning models that can help the fostered children in Suwung Village, partners need learning in a pleasant atmosphere to be applied to the fostered children in Suwung Village, and the lack of attention to models, media, and learning techniques needed by foster children in Suwung Village. Thus, this PKM activity is carried out to provide learning that can help the formation of the guided children in Suwung Village, provide learning in a pleasant atmosphere to be applied to the fostered children in Suwung Village, and provide knowledge about models, media, and learning techniques needed by the assisted children in Suwung Village in the learning community in Suwung Village.

Abstract

Di era pandemi seperti sekarang ini, semua profesi perlu dan mampu untuk beradaptasi dan beralih ke ranah daring untuk bisa tetap bertahan. Begitu pula profesi Interpreter. Kemampuan simultaneous interpretation jarak jauh perlu dimiliki. Artinya, seorang interpreter harus menerjemahkan lisan sebuah rapat, video konferensi, atau webinar yang diadakan di platform daring seperti Zoom, Teams, Google Meets, dan sebagainya. kegiatan Program Kemitraan Masyarakat (PKM) ini dilaksanakan dengan tujuan untuk memberikan kesadaran, minat, dan ketertarikan mahasiswa terhadap intepretring, mengembangkan potensi interpreting pada mahasiswa, dan memberikan pengetahuan tentang peluang dan tantangan dalam interpreting kontemporer. Metode yang diterapkan dalam sosialisasi adalah metode diskusi kelompok terarah. Metode diskusi kelompok terarah (Focus Group Discussion) adalah bentuk diskusi yang didesain untuk memperoleh informasi keinginan, kebutuhan, sudut pandang, kepercayaan dan pengalaman peserta tentang suatu topik, dengan pengarahan dari seorang fasilitator atau moderator. Hasil dari kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa Permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh mitra yaitu, kurangnya sosialisasi tentang peluang dan tantangan dalam interpreting kontemporer dan kurangnya pengetahuan mitra tentang peluang dan tantangan dalam interpreting kontemporer. Penggunaan piranti headset secara kontinyu bisa berpengaruh terhadap kesehatan pendengaran, burnout atau kelelahan fisik dan mental yang ekstrem akibat terlalu memforsir diri dalam bekerja, dan kehilangan Fokus dan Ketelitian. Gagal fokus dan salah dalam menerjemahkan bisa berakibat fatal. Di samping itu, peluang seorang interpreter antara lain berdasarkan mode temporal kerja dibedakan atas Consecutive interpreting, Simultaneous interpreting, dan Sight Interpreting.

Abstract

There are four common language skills that must be learned and studied continuously. One of the language skills that must be mastered by students is listening. By having based on ability, students will have the ability to express their thoughts and feelings correctly in the context of the situation needed and capture information with the speaker's intent, then respond to the information itself. A child learns a language through listening first. The process of listening, understanding meaning, imitating, and practicing language sound is repeated until the child speaks fluently. The same thing happens to adults when they learn a foreign language. This article describes the lack of listening in English for junior high school students and the appropriateness of teaching English to increase students' interest in developing listening skills. This may be because students' interest in listening skills is not good and the Extensive Listening approach is applied to improve listening skills, which is applied by the teacher in the learning process so that students do not practice listening skills in English. Based on this situation, the aim of this activity is to help build students' interest in improving English listening skills and through an extensive listening and application approach to teaching listening skills to junior high school students. In the process of listening there are five components, namely paying attention, understanding, remembering, and providing feedback or feedback. The object of this PKM activity is SMP PGRI 3 Denpasar, especially for class VIII students. The results of the research in this activity indicate that students are able to master the five components that have been applied in the teaching process of the Extensive Listening approach that is applied in improving students' listening skills and are able to pay attention, and understand, remember, and respond. Thus, in this case, the implementation is carried out with this focus so that learning outcomes can be optimal.

Abstract

Bahasa Inggris tentunya sangat penting untuk dipelajari sejak dini, namun perkembangan IPTEK tentunya harus tetap diiringi dengan pemertahanan budaya dan kearifan lokal agar tetap terjaga kelestariannya. Tujuanya adalah program kemitraan masyarakat ini bekerja sama dengan satu kelompok mitra, yaitu kelompok Guru Pengajar di TK Kumara Jaya, Desa Dauh Puri Klod, Denpasar Barat. Metode penelitian Pertama akan dilakukan penyesuaian kurikulum yang diberikan di TK untuk dapat dijadikan acuan dalam penyusunan bahan ajar, menentukkan tema dan topik dalam bahan ajar, dan membat bahan ajar berupa buku yang dapat dipergunakan dalam proses pengajaran bahasa Inggris untuk siswa-siswi di TK Kumara Jaya, Desa Dauh Puri Klod, Denpasar Barat. Dewasa ini banyak sekolah internasional bermunculan yang menggunakan bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa pengantar, demikian juga di sekolah-sekolah yang pengelolaannya ada di bawah desa, juga mulai mengajarkan bahasa Ingggris kepada anak didiknya sejak dini, yaitu Play Group dan TK. Akan tetapi terdapat sekolah-sekolah yang belum memiliki SDM yang kompeten dalam bahasa Inggris, dalam hal ini guru merangkap utnuk mengajar bahasa Inggris walaupun itu buka merupakan bidangnya. Sekolah-sekolah yang belum memiliki SDM memadai dalam bidang bahasa Inggris memerlukan pendampingan dalam penyusunan bahan ajar dan materi ajar bahasa Inggris. pengenalan bahasa Inggris bagi siswa seperti kata benda sebagi contoh nama binatang, tanaman, profesi dan sebagainya dengan sajian yang menarik sehingga mudah diingat oleh siswa, pengenalan kata sifat sebagai contoh kata sifat yang sering digunakan dalam mendeskripsikan seseorang. Materi-materi pengenalan kata dasar tersebut juga nantinya akan memuat nilai-nilai budaya dan kearifan lokal sebagai bentuk pemertahanan budaya di tengah-tengah kemajuan IPTEK.

Abstract

Pancasari adalah desa di kecamatan Sukasada, Buleleng, Bali, Indonesia. Desa ini terletak 850 meter dari permukaan laut. Desa ini memiliki berbagai objek wisata yang berkembang yaitu diantaranya danau Buyan, danau Beratan, wisata petik strawberry, camping. Tujuan untuk membantu para pelaku wisata di sekitar desa Pancasari, Kecamatan Sukasada Kabupaten Buleleng, yang belum pernah mendapatkan pelatihan bahasa Inggris Tour Guide dan mempromosikan objek wisata di Desa Pancasari secara online ataupu n offline. Metode wawancara mendalam (in depth interview) kepada pihak yang terlibat guna memperoleh data kualitatif. dan lainnya yang sangat menarik untuk dikunjungi. Ketika pemerintah menerapkan New Normal, roda perekonomian kembali berputar, pemandu wisata atau yang lebih dikenal dengan tour guide masih minim dan terbatas. Padahal kualitas SDM dalam hal tour guiding di desa tersebut berpotensi tinggi untuk dapat menjadi SDM yang unggul sehingga dapat mendatangkan income. Salah satu SDM yang berpotensi adalah para siswa SMK Puri Wisata Pancasari. Kehadiran siswa SMK Puri Wisata Pancasari mampu menjadi bantuan bagi para pelaku wisata untuk mempromosikan usaha wisatanya sehingga dapat menarik minat wisatawan kembali berkunjung. Sesuai dengan pemaparan di atas, PKM ini dilakukan dengan Memberikan pelatihan Bahasa Inggris selama kali dalam waktu tiga bulan, yaitu Februari-April. Masing-masing pertemuan berlangsung selama 90 menit. Pelatihan direncanakan sekali dalam seminggu. Kegiatan ini menggu-nakan metode blended learning. Dengan demikian program ini dapat menghasilkan bibit-bibit tour guide yang handal untuk memajukan sektor pariwisata.

Abstract

This community services program is entitled “Implementation of Contextual Teaching and Learning Model in Teaching Procedure Text at VII Grade in SMP PGRI 3 Denpasar”. The partner of this program is SMP PGRI 3 Denpasar. While the object of the program’s implementation is the students of SMP PGRI 3 Denpasar, especially the VII Grade. It takes place at SMP PGRI 3 Denpasar. This community services program aims to increase understanding and ability in in understanding about Contextual Teaching and Learning Models in Teaching Procedure Texts, Increasing competitiveness (increasing the quality, quantity, and added value of goods, services, product diversification, or other resources), Increase the application of science and technology to society This is a very important and useful program to increase the understanding of the the students of SMP PGRI 3 Denpasar, especially the VII Grade so that they can provide explanations related to Contextual Teaching and Learning Models in Teaching Procedure Texts. The targeted output plan related to the implementation of this PKM activity is the form of publication in the Community Service Journal in the form of ISSN articles and books in the form of teaching and learning documentation to student of SMP PGRI 3 denpasar especially VII grade.

Abstract

Desa Cempaga Kabupaten Bangli mempunyai beragam potensi yang dapat dikembangkan untuk menghasilkan produk berupa barang ataupun jasa, seperti: anyaman, lukisan, kuliner, dan bahkan kopi. Usaha Mikro Kecil dan Menengah (UMKM) berupa coffee shop atau tempat makan dengan desain kekinian menjadi salah satu usaha yang cukup diminati oleh masyarakat, termasuk 2 (dua) UMKM mitra yang terlibat, yaitu Dijumah Cafe & Art Space dan Warung Soka. Beberapa masalah yang dihadapi oleh mitra di antaranya adalah kurangnya konten promosi yang menarik dan efektif serta kurangnya pelatihan kemampuan Bahasa Inggris dalam pembuatan iklan, menu makanan, maupun memberikan pelayanan kepada tamu asing. Jenis kegiatan yang dilakukan untuk membantu mitra adalah memberikan pendampingan pembuatan iklan audiovisual serta pengunggahan konten audiovisual pada media sosial masing-masing pelaku UMKM; dan pelatihan bahasa Inggris. Tujuan program kemitraan masyarakat ini adalah untuk membantu para mitra meningkatkan kualitas promosi melalui konten audiovisual serta meningkatkan kemampuan penguasaan Bahasa Inggris para staf. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah tumbuhnya kesadaran tentang pentingnya promosi produk di media sosial, menurunnya angka komplain, meningkatnya angka pengunjung, serta munculnya kesadaran dan keinginan dalam pengembangan bisnis dengan promosi melalui media sosial.
