Children playground is a place designed particularyfor children to play freely so they gain cheerfulness, joy and excitement. It also canbecome as a mean to develop their cognitive, social, physical, and emotional abilities. Children playgrounds managed by the government, private, schools and communities, currently do not have proper design standards to support the safety and health of users. Those which do not pay attention to safety, comfort, convenience, and health in the design is very risky causing accidents and further the main purpose of playing the game can not be achieved. Therefore, design control of children playground is required in order to minimize the negative impact of children playgroundand its facilities on children's safety and health. The design control also important to assure society that assigned functions of children playground workproperly. Criteria and indicators of children playground design are safety, health, comfort, convenience, security, and aesthetic. Components to be arranged in the design control of children playground are location, layout, game equipments, construction, and materials. This article reviews the design control of children playground and studies the case in Indonesia.

Abstract

Subak is one of Balinese cultural products that hastangible and intangible aspects. It also relates to Balinese landscape, social and culture. The tangible and intangible forms of subak are paddy field landscape and local agriculture system, which are well known as one of Bali’s landscape images. The environment conservation often collides with spatial and economy needs. Environment degradation is found in most of places  in the world and in Bali subaks as well. Bali is loosing subaks, which mostly caused by its agricultural landscape function transformation. The Anggabaya Subak, which is located in Denpasar city, is one among other subaks that situated in urban context. This condition has caused agricultural landscape transformation much more significant thanother subaks in rural areas. The existence of Anggabaya Subak will be at  risk if the agricultural landscape cannot give more benefits, economically, to the local community.Anggabaya Subak conservation can be used as a holistic conservation model of landscape, social, and culture in Bali. The Anggabaya Subak conservation is carried out by enhancing the subak functions. The subak expands its functions from primarily managing the landscape for agricultural crops to managing the agricultural landscape for tourism. Three factors that support the function enhancement are the agricultural landscape potential, subak organization capacity, and support from the local government.A functioning agricultural landscape as a tourism object is expected to answer the pressure of changing agricultural landscape. The sustainable and dynamic subak are anticipated to be able to maintain the image of Bali sustainable landscape.

Abstract

Scientists agree that open space’s figures and width area in the cities are not only important to the beauty of the city, but also for improving the urban quality of living. It is related to the needs of places for sports and recreational purposes. Open spaces with particular greeneries will also able to fix the decreasing amount of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases effect. One cause of the problem is the competition between the need of green open spaces versus the need of commercial land. Knowingly or not, in addition to commercial and other needs, societies in general and especially planners are less persistent in fighting for the presence of green open space. In particular, to show concerns with the proposed protest on its presence, even so aware of any changes in land use than originallyplanned for the green to any other use.Architecture and landscape architecture education ought to play the main role, encouraging its students to understand the importance of green open space provision and further, producing environmentally concerned and well-educated graduates. This paper aims to review with a different perspective, the availability’s indicators of open space in the city, in terms of urban land use management, especially on increasing public awareness through participation in the monitoring changes in use and incompatibilities of the land use according to the plan. The study results shows that the participation of educated people as a watch-dog agents of the land use planning implementations could be the best and effective instruments to address socio-economic and urban architectural issues, instead of relying on local government building inspectors.

Abstract

Residential areas are inevitably identified as waste generating region. In general, the waste from the residential area will be transfered from the collecting tool into the garbage carrier at transfer depot which has about 200 m2 area. A residential area of about 10,000 inhabitants requires at least an area of    5,000 m2, generating approximately 25 m3 of waste per day. When transporting all the waste to a landfill, a raise in operating cost and pollution is expected along with odors and garbage scattered along the path. To solve this problem, transfer depot shall be empowered as Integrated Waste Treatment Facility (TPSAT). Transfer depot and neighborhood park is a crucial requirement of a residential area. Integration of both facilities could reduce the negative image of Transfer Depot. TPSAT will produce material that can be recycled, and also organic fertilizer that can be used for maintaining plants growth. While in process of sorting, cleaning, and composting definitely require lots of water. The spacious garden environment can simultaneously be used as a collecting andprocessing area of grey water from surrounding settlements. Waste Water Treatment with Garden (WWG) will produce water that can be used in the process of washing and flushing recycling materials and watering organic fertilizer. Eco-technology tub with 500 m2 area in the depth of 0.8 m ables to generate clean water from greywater at the rate of  100 m3/day generates from 1,000 inhabitant. Park, which is also considered as the lung of environment and communal space, can be integrated and used as local TPSAT WWTP when used with proper layout design and suitable plants.
