Abstract

This study aims to determine the structure and composition of vegetation types in the development of dusung, factors that affect economic aspects, environment, and management in the development of dusung and the optimal benefits of economic, ecological and management aspects to support food security. The research method used in this research is descriptive method with quantitative (positivism) and qualitative (phenomenological) approaches. Determination of the location of the study was done by purposive sampling, and data collection was carried out using open and in-depth interviews. The results showed that the structure and composition of dusung vegetation in Hative village consisted of the tree, pole, weaning and seedling levels, with stratification consisting of stratum A to stratum E. Factors influencing economic, environmental and management aspects in Dusung management were social factors- culture in the form of community wisdom such as sasi and Kewang, Dusung Inheritance / Ownership system, cropping patterns and types of soil in Dusung as well as changes in community lifestyle. The development of the dusung has strengths in the form of various kinds of vegetation such as Eugenia aromatica, Durio zibethinus, Lansium domesticum, Bouea macrophylla, Gmelina molucanna, and Myristica fragrans, possessing fertile soil and accessibility of locations easily accessible; and dusung development opportunities namely marketing aspects that have a positive impact on increasing income for the community.

Abstract

Green open space is at least a minimum requirement for an environmentally sustainable city at 30% of the total area. Pressure on green free space, especially the Green belt area in the river border, tends to increase from year to year due to an increase in urban population. Therefore, this study aims to analyze people's perceptions of the green belt vegetation's role in the watershed of the Wae Batu Gajah watershed in Ambon City. The research method uses descriptive methods that describe a situation based on facts in the field and do not treat the object, with the hypothesis testing procedure using Chi-Square. The results showed that the community's socio-economic parameters consisting of age, formal education, and occupation had a significant influence on the understanding of the green border of the river. In contrast, gender and marital status parameters have no significant effect on understanding the green belt border. Formal education can influence attitudes and behavior through values, character, and understanding of a problem built in stages in a person. The type of work a person has for a long time working will affect the environment's mindset and behavior. The poor only have two sources of income, through salaries / informal business surpluses for basic needs.

Abstract

Deer including protected animals based on government regulation No. 7 of 1999 concerning Preservation of Plants and Animals. Animals that are in good habitat, are easy to breed and have multiple benefits, especially as a source of food, tourism objects and a place for the development of science and education and aesthetics. Therefore this study aims to analyze the population and habitat of timor deer in Banggoi Village, West Bula District, West Seram Regency. The results showed that the population and habitat used by the timor deer (Cervus timorensis) included mangrove forests, coastal forests, and grasslands. Timor deer (Cervus timorensis) provides food for the mangrove forest and grassland habitat, while for drinking needs, Timor deer consumes river water and at the edges of the water puddles in mangrove forests, coastal forests and grasslands. Places used as beds are mangrove roots, on the sand near the beach, and also alang-alang grass (Imperata cylindica). The resting places can be found during the research, namely the presence of deer feathers attached and also the appearance of the surface of the litter is decreased due to the piercing of the deer's body. In addition there are also veses (dirt) in places of rest.

This is evidenced by a factor of education and income are very berpegaruh towards the level of participation, so that the involvement of the respondent are very helpful in the conservation of mangrove forests. Based on the analysis of the Chi square obtained the results that count amounted to 36.43 X2 is greater than X2 table 28.29 at 0.01 significant degree it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and the Ha are received. This means there is a real relationship between the level of public participation by education level of the respondents. Participation rates based on income, obtained the results that count of 31.35 X2 is greater than X2 table 28.29 on significant value of 0.01 degrees degrees of freedom 16. It can be concluded that H0 is rejected and the Ha are received.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the morphological condition of Litsea spp. Including the condition of the trunk, branching, the canopy, especially the relationship between the diameter of the trunk and the total height of the tree, the diameter of the trunk to the width of the canopy, and the total height of the tree to the width of the canopy in the Education Forest, Faculty of Forestry, Mulawarman University Samarinda East Kalimantan. The method of this study was purposive sampling method, which looking for Litsea spp. As the object of research as many as 33 trees and seven types of Litsea spp. The tree parameters measured were diameter, branch free, tree height, and canopy width. The results showed that 57.4% of the trees were healthy. The results of the tree's overall data analysis showed that the regression coefficient value between diameter and height, and diameter with canopy width have a moderate correlation value, this indicated that the diameter of the tree has no relationship to tree height and canopy width in Litsea spp. And similar conditions also occurred in the correlation between the height of the tree, which also has a moderate correlation, so it indicated the tree's height does not affect the width of the canopy

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the physical properties and advantages of cement boards made from sago stem bark waste based on the test results of several parameters, according to JIS A 5908 (2003) standard. The results show that the physical properties of cement board from sago stem bark waste with the addition of the CaCl2 catalyst were good with the average value of cement board density ranged from 1.19-1.26 gr/cm³, water content 7,67-8,02%, water absorption after immersion 2 hours 6,03-7.65% and after 24-hour immersion 11,62-12,91%, respectively. The averages swelling value of board thickness after immersion 2 hours 1.62-12,91% and after immersion 24 hours 1.40-3.41%. Furthermore, sago bark waste in various positions of the tree trunk (tree base, middle, and top) can be utilized to manufacture the cement board. However, the board made from sago stem bark waste at the ground with the addition of a catalyst CaCl2 6% has the best physical properties and meets JIS A 5908 (2003) standard. Cement boards from sago stem bark waste have an excellent waterproof capability and can be used as outdoor materials.
