Abstract

This study aims to obtain empirical evidence on (I) causality between economic growth and human development, (2) the influence of population, investment and human development to economc growth, (3) the influence of economic growth, expenditure government spending on education and health sector as well as on the human development in regency/city of West Kalimantan province. This study is characterized by descriptive as well as quantitative research, namely research that aims to giving picture or a characteristic of a particular phenomenon by using the model of simultaneous equations method of Two Stage Least Square (TSLS) approach to fixed effect model (FEM). The secondary data as used in the research such as panel data (the data aliance of time series and cross section) from 9 regency/city of West Kalimantan province during the period 2001- 2008. The research finding indicate that (I) there are two ways causality relationship between economic growth and human development, (2) population, investment, and human development have a significant influence and positively to economic growth, (3) economic growth, expenditure government spending on education and health sector has a positive and significant influence on the human development in regency/city West Kalimantan province. Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of inflation, economic growth, and foreign investment on unemployment in Indonesia. Using the autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) analysis method to analyze the 1991-2018 time series data collected from the World Bank's World Development Indicators database. The results found that inflation has a negative and significant effect in the short term but not significant in the long term in Indonesia. Economic growth has a negative and significant effect on both short and             long-term unemployment in Indonesia, and foreign investment has a negative and significant effect on both short and long-term unemployment in Indonesia. Through the ARDL model, this research is able to prove that inflation, economic growth, foreign investment, and budgeting are proven to have long-term cointegration or move together in the long term. The four variables also have a dynamic short-term relationship that has a fairly high speed of adjustment towards equilibrium per year. Based on the results, policymakers, in this case the government must provide a conducive investment environment by eliminating the structural rigidity that exists in the economy to attract investment, both foreign and domestic investment, to encourage economic growth and create jobs in Indonesia.

Abstract

Changes in the situation that move very quickly on the commodity market have an impact on financial markets, one of which is the stock market in Indonesia. Therefore this study aims to examine the dynamic correlation between the movement of world oil prices and the Sectoral Stock Price Index listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). The data used is obtained from secondary data in the form of daily closing price data for world oil prices and Sectoral Stock Price Index from January 2017 to June 2020. The analysis technique used is Dynamic Conditional Correlation-Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroscedasticity (DCC-GARCH), due to previous studies mostly using a static approach. The results of this study show that the DCC-GARCH value between world oil prices (Brent and WTI) and Sectoral Stock Price Index tends to be very weak. A negative dynamic correlation was also found in the Consumer Goods Sector. This research can be a reference for investors who want to invest stocks in Indonesia by looking at the correlation between world oil prices and the Sectoral Stock Price Index.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of entrepreneurial marketing dimensions, including proactiveness, opportunity-focused, risk-taking orientation, innovation-oriented, customer intensity, resource leveraging, and value creation of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) business success in the creative economy industry. The study also examined the moderating role of company age on the entrepreneurial marketing dimension's influence on SME's business success. The study used survey methods by distributing questionnaires to 265 SME business owners in North Kalimantan. The sampling method uses nonprobability sampling with a convenience sampling technique. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression analyses and moderated tests using the macro process of SPSS Hayes. The results of this study indicated that in the context of SMEs in the creative industry, customer intensity and value creation play a critical role in business success. Meanwhile, proactiveness, opportunity-focused, risk-taking orientation, innovation-oriented, and resource leveraging found no impact on SMEs' business success. The research also proves that the company's age moderated the impact of customer intensity on SME's success but does not moderate the influence of value creation to SME's business success.

Abstract

This study aims to provide empirical evidence of the effect of financial knowledge and risk tolerance on investment decision-making. This type of research is associated research with data collection methods using survey samples. Measurement of variables in this study uses a Likert scale from 1 for strongly disagree to a scale of 5 for strongly agree. The population in this study are investors who have attended the capital market school in the Indonesian Stock Exchange, West Nusa Tenggara Representative Office, and who had a single investor identification (SID). Sampling refers to the Slovin formula with a sample size of 110 respondents. Analysis of the data in this study using multiple linear regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that financial knowledge and risk tolerance affect investment decision-making. Implications of this study for investors to pay more attention to understanding in the form of financial knowledge and recognize the type of risk tolerance that exists in investors in making investment decisions in the capital market.JEL: G11, G14, G32, G41

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe purposes of this study is to investigate the impact of firm characteristics, firm performances, and management entrenchment on earnings management by using firms registered on Bursa Efek Indonesia for the period 2015-2019. Sampling method that is used in this study is purposive sampling method so the objects should meet the criteria. The exception sample for this study is financial firms due to differences on some regulations of reporting and firms without complete annual and financial report published for the period 2015-2019. The secondary data were obtained from firms’ financial report and annual report that were published on the firms’ official website and Bursa Efek Indonesia’s website. In this study, earnings management is measured with Modified Jones Model. This study analyzed using fixed effect model approach panel data regression analysis. The results show that growth opportunities, board size, current ratio, auditor size, financial statement, and CEO ownership have no significant influences. Leverage, firm size, asset growth and turnover, and cash flow show significant negative influences. On the other hand, long-term and short-term debts, and CEO tenure show significant positive influences. Some results are not compatible with hypothesis since there are limitations on the period time and methods that were chosen. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk meneliti adanya pengaruh dari karakteristik perusahaan, kinerja perusahaan, dan management entrenchment terhadap manajemen laba dengan menggunakan perusahaan yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia periode 2015-2019. Metode pengambilan sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode purposive sampling sehingga objek penelitian harus sesuai dengan kriteria. Sampel data yang dikecualikan adalah perusahaan keuangan atau finansial karena memiliki regulasi pelaporan yang berbeda dan perusahaan yang tidak memiliki kelengkapan laporan keuangan dan laporan tahunan periode 2015-2019. Data sekunder diperoleh dari laporan keuangan dan laporan tahunan perusahaan yang dipublikasikan pada website resmi perusahaan dan website Bursa Efek Indonesia. Dalam penelitian ini, manajemen laba diukur dengan Modified Jones Model. Penelitian ini dianalisis menggunakan analisis regresi data panel dengan pendekatan fixed effect model. Hasil pengujian menunjukan bahwa peluang pertumbuhan, ukuran dewan direktur, rasio lancar, ukuran auditor, laporan keuangan, dan kepemilikan direktur utama tidak memiliki pengaruh signifikan. Sedangkan leverage, ukuran perusahaan, pertumbuhan dan perputaran aset, dan arus kas operasional memiliki pengaruh signifikan negatif terhadap manajemen laba. Utang jangka panjang dan pendek, serta masa jabatan direktur memiliki pengaruh signifikan positif. Hasil pengujian yang tidak sesuai dengan hipotesis dapat disebabkan karena adanya keterbatasan dalam periode waktu dan metode pengukuran yang digunakan.JEL : M410, M480

Abstract

This study examines the impact of brand experience on brand loyalty with the mediation effect of brand passion, self-brand connection, brand affection, and customer satisfaction of smartphone users in Indonesia. This study used a sample of 259 respondents who have been using smartphones for at least two years. The data was obtained using purposive sampling by filling out an online questionnaire. Data analysis generated by Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results of this study show that brand experience has little impact on brand loyalty. However, brand experience has a positive influence on brand loyalty if it is mediated by brand passion, self-brand connection, brand affection, and customer satisfaction. The implication of this study argues that it is better for companies engaged in the smartphone industries can pay attention to the role of brand passion, self-brand connection, brand affection, and customer satisfaction as factors that can mediate brand experience to increase the tendency of brand loyalty. Companies should enhance the focus, not only on the visual and feature but also the emotional indicators so that the customer could have a good experience to become a loyal one.JEL: M30, M31, M39.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the determinants of saving behavior using financial literacy as a mediating variable. The endogenous variable in this study was saving behavior, while the exogenous variables were financial literacy, parental socialization, peer influence, and self-control. The respondents were 300 students from the Faculty of Economics of Indonesia. Data were analyzed by Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) using STATA software. The results show that parental socialization and peer influence positively affect financial literacy, whereas self-control does not. Financial literacy directly affects saving behavior. Parental socialization and peer influence directly influence saving behavior.  The results provide a new understanding of the importance of financial literacy in encouraging student-saving behavior.  The role of parents and peers in the environment is essential for improving students’ financial literacy and saving behavior. The banking industry can play a role in increasing financial literacy through collaboration with universities through a virtual account program and the socialization of savings to students. It is also an opportunity for saving service providers to introduce their products to consumers early.JEL : G41, G410.ABSTRAKTujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui determinan dari saving behaviour dengan menggunakan financial literacy sebagai variabel mediasi. Variabel endogen dalam penelitian ini adalah saving behaviour sedangkan variabel eksogen, yaitu financial literacy, parental socialization, peer influence, dan self-control. Responden penelitian ini adalah 300 mahasiswa Fakultas Ekonomi di Indonesia. Data dianalisis dengan Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) menggunakan software STATA. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa parental socialization dan peer influence berpengaruh positif terhadap financial literacy, sedangkan self-control berpengaruh negatif terhadap financial literacy. Financial literacy juga terbukti berpengaruh secara langsung pada saving behaviour. Parental socialization dan peer influence juga memiliki pengaruh langsung pada saving behaviour. Penelitian ini memberikan pemahaman baru mengenai pentingnya literasi keuangan untuk mendorong perilaku menabung bagi mahasiswa. Peran orang tua dan teman sebaya menjadi faktor penting dalam menumbuhkan literasi keuangan dan perilaku menabung mahasiswa. Industri perbankan dapat berperan dalam meningkatkan financial literacy melalui kerjasama dengan universitas dalam bentuk program virtual account sekaligus untuk sosialisasi tabungan ke mahasiswa. Ini juga menjadi peluang bagi penyedia layanan tabungan untuk memperkenalkan produknya ke konsumen lebih dini.Kata Kunci: literasi keuangan, peer influence, parental socialization, self-control, saving behaviour.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study aims to examine the determinants of the developed Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) framework. The author used stratified random sampling, and data collection used a survey method. The analysis technique used is multiple regression analysis and path analysis using the IBM SPSS 25 software. The results show that perceived ease of use and perceived risk do not influence attitude towards fintech lending. In contrast, perceived usefulness, relative advantage, and perceived cost influence it, and attitude influences intention to use fintech lending behavior. Moreover, the attitude has a partial mediation role only in the relationship between perceived usefulness and relative advantage to fintech lending using intention. These results support the original model of TAM that states perceived ease of use has a nonsignificant effect on attitude towards using behavior. It suggested that financial technology services foster users to use fintech lending through various ways to tell it is easy enough to use and able to protect users' secure data and information. This study also contributes to giving more empirical evidence for other variables to modify and develop the Technology Acceptance Model.JEL : G23, G41, G51. Keywords : Technology Acceptance Model, financial technology, lending. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji faktor-faktor pada kerangka kerja yang merupakan pengembangan dari Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Peneliti menggunakan metode stratified random sampling dan pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode survey. Teknik analisis yang digunakan adalah uji regresi berganda dan uji jalur dengan bantuan perangkat lunak IBM SPSS 25. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perceived ease of use dan perceived risk tidak memberikan pengaruh pada sikap terhadap fintech lending. Sebaliknya, perceived usefulness, relative advantage dan perceived cost justru memberikan pengaruh, serta sikap memberikan pengaruh terhadap minat untuk menggunakan fintech lending. Lebih lanjut, sikap memilki mediasi parsial hanya pada hubungan antara perceived usefulness dan relative advantage terhadap minat untuk menggunakan fintech lending. Hasil penelitian ini mendukung model awal TAM yang menyatakan bahwa perceived ease of use memberikan pengaruh yang tidak signifikan terhadap sikap untuk menggunakan. Disarankan bagi penyedia jasa keuangan berbasis teknologi untuk mendorong pengguna fintech lending melalui berbagai langkah untuk menyampaikan kemudahan penggunaan dan fintech mampu melindungi data dan informasi pengguna yang bersifat rahasia. Penelitian ini juga berkontribusi untuk memberikan bukti empiris pada berbagai variabel yang digunakan untuk memodifikasi dan mengembangkan Technology Acceptance Model.

Abstract

The dynamic of local government spending on education, health care, and infrastructure in the region shows an interesting phenomenon in the last decade. Despite the fact that budget expenditures of sub national governments have grown substantially, the pace of the human development index and the rate of economic growth have provided us different pictures. This study aims to analyze the impact of the three spending groups on the quality of human development and economic growth in Indonesia. This research used purposive sampling method to obtain data from as many as 464 districts/cities that were observed during the 2016-2018 period. Based on panel analysis, there was evidence that health spending had a positive effect on the human development index and community welfare. By contrast, spending on education and infrastructure did not have a good effect on these two development indicators. Based on the Sobel test, only health spending had a positive indirect effect on economic growth through the quality of human development. Meanwhile, education spending did not have a significant effect on economic growth, either directly or indirectly. Future research may develop another measurement for insfrastructure spending to provide better proxy.
