Abstract

Global climate change is expected to cause an increase in the intensity and duration of extreme rainfall events that occur today. The leading cause of flooding in various world regions, including flat coastal areas such as the Serok River catchment in Kota Pontianak, influenced by tides, is excessive rainfall. This article presents the results of an analysis of the impact of extreme precipitation on the peak discharge of flood hydrographs in the Serok River catchment, Kota Pontianak.Maximum daily rainfall data for 2009-2020 recorded at PTK-11 Pontianak Station were selected using the Annual Maximum Series Method. Frequency analysis was conducted using the best distribution method selected from Normal, Log Normal, Log Pearson Type III, and Gumbel Type I to obtain the design rainfall. The design rainfall was transformed into flood hydrographs at the next stage using the Snyder Synthetic Unit Hydrograph based on several return periods. The results of the analysis show that there are changes in flood discharge in the Serok River catchment area for each return period. The location of land use and the value of rain intensity significantly affect the calculation of plan discharge; the more significant the land area and the higher the rain intensity, the greater the resulting release. The most considerable flood discharge (Qmax) in the 2, 5, and 10 years return occurs at STA 1 + 100, w.290 m3/s, 0.347 m3/s, and 0.377 m3/s, respectively. Thus, this causes periodic flooding/inundation conditions, especially in areas that have low elevations.

Abstract

Floods are common natural catastrophes in Indonesia, particularly during the rainy season. The Parit Berkat water catchment region is one of the locations that frequently experience flooding. The channel's capacity must be increased to accommodate the current water discharge, resulting in this condition. Several reasons are responsible for the diminished capacity of the canal. For instance, inhabitants' activities along canal banks might contribute to the siltation of channels. This research aimed to evaluate the influence of tides and rainfall on the flow of the Parit Berkat Canal. This research provided the use of both primary and secondary data. The leading information consists of measurements of the cross-section and length of the channel and the elevation of the tidal water level over 15 days. Secondary data consists of the maximum daily rainfall data received from Balai Wilayah Sungai Kalimantan I (BWSK I) and the location map for the research. The flow profile is simulated using HEC-RAS. The findings demonstrate that when maximum rainfall and low tides coincide, 13 stations are safe in the 2-year return period of rain, eight stations are safe in the 5-year return period, and six stations are safe in the 10-year return period.

Abstract

Flooding frequently occurs in the Simorejo Settlement Area, Simomulyo Village, Sukomanunggal Sub-District, Surabaya City, Indonesia. Recent flooding revealed that the existing channel's capacity was insufficient to handle flood discharge. Therefore, an evaluation of the drainage channels was carried out to determine design and existing flood discharges and channel re-designing measures. Rain data from 2012 to 2021, for the last decade, was used in the evaluation. Maximum rainfall was calculated using the arithmetic method, while design and existing channel discharges were calculated based on the rational method with a maximum rainfall of 2 years, 5 years, and 10 years. The calculation results showed that the channel condition was unable to accommodate the planned flood discharge with a 2-year, 5-year, and 10-year return period. Consequently, re-designing was carried out using a trial and error method until the channel was able to accommodate the design of flood discharge. The re-designing process resulted in an enlarged drainage channel cross-section with dimensions of 1.2 m x 1 m x 1 m.

Abstract

Heavy equipment is a vital resource in a project, but renting heavy equipment is a costly undertaking. Besides that, a project always has constraints that allow the project completion time to exceed the specified time, and delays will also cause costs incurred to increase. So from the calculation of the productivity of heavy equipment, it is necessary so that the tool can work optimally. From the analysis results, it was found that the productivity of excavators was 154.185 m3/Hour. For dump trucks, it was 37.99 m3/Hour, then calculating the duration of work. For heavy equipment excavators, it took 454 Hours, and for dump trucks, it took 263 O'clock. For the cost of renting heavy equipment from the calculation of the analysis of the cost of renting heavy equipment for excavators, a value of Rp.1,985,200/Day is obtained, while for dump trucks, it is Rp.2,578,000/Day

Abstract

Many rain-to-discharge transformation models have been made, such as the Mock Model and the NRECA Model, which are used to make monthly synthetic discharge data when there is not enough discharge data to analyze water availability in a Sub-Basin or Sub-Basin. Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) data, created by NASA and JAXA, is one type of satellite-based rainfall data that can help overcome the lack of rainfall data. However, not all areas have rainfall recording stations, and if there are, not all existing rainfall recording stations operate correctly. Such conditions also occur in the Melawi Sub-Basin in West Kalimantan. This research aims to determine how much water is available in the Melawi Sub-Basin by putting satellite-based rainfall data into the NRECA model and the Mock model, which converts rainfall to discharge. This study was done to determine how reliable TRMM satellite rainfall data are as input data for the rainfall-to-discharge transformation model used to determine how much water is available in the Melawi Sub-Basin. The goal of this study is to assess the suitability of TRMM data with observation station rainfall data in the Melawi Sub-Basin by validating TRMM satellite rainfall data with BMKG Susilo and BMKG Nanga Pinoh observation station rainfall data and to choose the appropriate rain-to-flow diversion model used in the Melawi Sub-Basin based on the results of model parameter calibration, with the models whose parameters are calibrated being the Mock Model and the NRECA.The study results show that TRMM rainfall data in the Melawi Sub-Basin that has been validated and corrected with the equation Y = 0.748089283 X + 62.19135368 can be used as input data in the analysis of water availability, and the transformation model of rainfall into discharge that is more suitable is the Mock Model. In general, both the observation station rainfall pattern and the TRMM rainfall pattern tend to have the same pattern as the discharge pattern in the Melawi Sub-Basin. The fact that August has the lowest peak is clear evidence of this. Even though the highest point doesn't happen in the same month, the trend is the same, so TRMM rainfall data can be considered valid and used to replace observational rainfall data in the Melawi Sub-Basin. Similar research can be done on other Sub-Basins in Kalimantan Barat Province to help develop and manage water resources since many observation stations in Kalimantan Barat Province no longer work, and there are many large Sub-Basins in that province.

Abstract

Hunimua Harbor is the link between Ambon Island and Seram Island. The flow of growth in sea transportation users at Hunimua Port in the last five years has increased. The preliminary analysis of Hunimua Port shows that in 2021 passenger growth is 21%, 2-wheeled vehicle growth is 17%, 4/6-wheeled growth is 24%, and ship visit growth is 5%, respectively, and Berth Occupancy Ratio (BOR) is 72%. The results showed that the average annual load growth over the next ten years was 1.7% for passengers, 1.2% for R-2 vehicles, and 4.5% for R-4/6 vehicles. The Load Factor in 2026 has reached 68%, and in 2031 it has born 67%, which means that the level of demand for ferry transportation has exceeded the available capacity, based on the Regulation of the Minister of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia Number PM 104 of 2017 concerning the Implementation of Ferry Transportation. The Berth Occupancy Ratio (BOR) value for 2026 = 82%, and in 2031 = 92%. From the percentage of BOR values in table 2.1 based on UNCTAD standards, Hunimua Port should have more than six piers ready to operate in 2026.
