Abstract

This study aims to: (1) look for the highest and lowest values in number and algebraic material of Junior High School in East Lombok, (2) the percentage of errors made by students when answering math problems, and (3) the diagnosis of student’s misconception in doing number and algebra at Junior High School in East Lombok. This research is a quantitative- descriptive research. For the sampling technique, this study used purposive sampling. The test was conducted in five classes with 200 students as research participants. The sampling took into account the level of students’ ability and school readiness. The sampling size is 361 students from five schools. The data were in the form of students’ responses and those were analyzed using the Quest program. The results of this study are as follows. First, in terms of the difficulty index, 40 items (47%) are easy category items, 8% are medium category items, and 45% are difficult category items. Out of the 40 problems, 82% of the items have good difficulty index, while 18% are not good. Of the four alternative answers, 88% of the distractor is in a good category, and 12% are not good. Second, based on the students’ answers, the percentage of error is 52 %. Third, based on the result of the analysis using the Quest program, of the tow materials, the biggest misconception is in number with the percentage of 68%. The dominant error is in the indicator representing fractions in various forms, with a percentage of 22%.

Abstract

The main purpose of research is whether the representation of mathematical ability of students increased after learning gained through the program Mathematical Maple combined with cooperative learning Think Pair Share on lectures of Mathematical Physics. Subjects were students of third semester of physical education courses with the number of 35 students. The method used is a Class Action Research conducted through three cycles or actions which each cycle. The research instrument consists of: test, questionnaire, and observation guidelines. Based on data analysis concluded: (1) the ability of the representation of the students in understanding the meaning of the physical, the ability of representation of students to represent the mathematical equation in the form of graphs, the ability of the representation of the students in giving meaning physical on the results of visualization, and the ability of the representation of the students in understanding the course materials Mathematical Physics increase in each cycle or action; (2) the implementation process using computer-aided applications maple in the first cycle having problems because the students have never known the computer-assisted program maple, but in the next cycle students were able to adjust the maple program that is being used; and (3) the response of students to the course of action given the overall increase in each cycle. Keywords: Ability Representation, Think Pair Share.

Abstract

Problems in learning introductory computer science which need urgent solution is the problem related with the students learning actinevess. Along with the approach of problem posing, problem solving efforts above got the right momentum. Learning approach used in this research is problem posing approach. The purpose of the research is to increase students? learning activeness. This research activity involves two lecturers and 21 students in course of introduction of computer science at semester 4 academic year of 2015/2016. The data collected using the students activity sheet and analyzed in qualitative descriptive. Based on the results of data analysis it is known that the use of the problem posing approach can raise average students learning on the activeness of cycle 1 that included in the category of low and at cycle 2 is included in the category of middle. It means an increase in students? learning activeness after organized research activities. Keywords: learning activeness, students creativity, problem posing approach

Abstract

The aim of this research is to know the improvement of critical thinking ability of pre-service teacher students on Ecosystem and Biodiversity concepts after applying practicum based learning. The method of this research is quasi-experiment with the one group pretest-postest design. The sample were 2nd semester pre-service teacher students at biology education department that following the Environmental Science Course at FKIP Tanjungpura University, consist of 34 students. Data were collected through multiple choice test with reasoning and essay test, and were analyzed by using mean-difference test and normalized gain score. The result of gain score show that critical thinking ability were improve (0,39) through this learning model. Conclusion of this research, practicum based learning give positive influence to critical thinking ability of pre-service teacher students. Keywords : practicum based learning, critical thinking ability

Abstract

Bivalves include sludge animals scattered in coastal waters with sand and mud substrate. This study was to determined the structure of bivalves communities in the coastal waters in Dullah Village, Tual City. This study was conducted from December 2016 until March 2017 using plot method measuring 1x1 meter. This study was result found 576 individuals consisting of 4 orders, 10 families, 14 genus, and 15 species. The largest species are Anadara antiquata with total of 118 individuals and the least species are Mytilus sp with 1 individual. The structure of the bivalvia community in the coastal waters of Dullah Village is less stable because of its moderate diversity so that dominance is low. In the absence of dominating species, the fairness of bivalves is high.

Abstract

This research has been conducted to recognize the improvement of the students study achievement in polymer lesson at 12th grade of science program in SMAN 2 Pontianak by the application of cooperative learning model type numbered heads together. The form of this research is Classroom Action Research. The research was conducted in three cycles. The students learn about the meaning and the reaction how the polymer is formed, the classification of polymer, kinds of plastic, the use and the impact of polymer as well. The instruments used are the students’ test achievement and questioners. Result of this research on the first cycle the percentage of the study completeness is 70,97%, the second cycle is 75% and the third cycle is 84,38%. It can be concluded that there is improvement on the students study result. It is recommended for the teachers to choose cooperative learning model type numbered heads together become one of the learning model alternative in polymer lesson to improve of the students’ study result. Keywords: Numbered heads together, polymer.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the activity and results of student learning in the subject of Anatomy Plant through a comparative study  model based lesson study. The method used is classroom action research with 4 cycles. Samples used  in this study is the third semester students of regular education courses Biology FKIP Veteran Bangun Nusantara University Sukoharjo force 2012/2013 as many as 24 people. The study began in November 2013 and April 2014. The learning activities were observed in the form of discussion and presentation activities, while learning outcomes measured were the post-test results after completion of the learning process of each cycle. Data analysis techniques with comparative descriptive, comparing the results of learning and learning activity cycle with the cycle I to IV. From the  results of this study concluded that the average post-test or study results from Cycle I to IV increased starting 3.47, 3.72, 3.73 and 3.85, though in terms of learning activities is still not satisfactory because it only categorized quite active for the first cycle to the active cycle III and cycle IV. Keywords: Model Comparison learning, learning activities, learning outcomes.

Abstract

Abstract Physics concepts can be represented in multiple ways such as verbal, diagrams, graphs, mathematical equations etc. Most previous research focused on drawing and utilizing representations to help students learn physics concepts. This study aims to investigate students’ views toward physics representations while solving physics problems by involving preservice physics teachers of two universities in Kalimantan Barat. A physics representation survey was developed to measure students’ perception about physics representations. The results show that the majority of the students (above 75%) agree that representations are beneficial for them to understand physics problems and physics concepts and also to find out the best solution of a problem. Some of the students say that they remain provide representations while solving a problem even though there is no extra credit given by instructors. Some of the students feel that they face impediment to grasp representations provided in some physcis text book. Keywords: physics representations, views

Abstract

The aim of this research were investigated misconception about electric circuit. Diagnostic tests and Certainly of Response Index used to survey 68 students in Pontianak. That misconceptions are current have been consumed by its closed circuit components; the more battery in the circuits, the more brightness of the bulb; the more of resistance in series circuits, the more current; battery to be seen as stationary source of current; if a circuit element changed in a circuit, student analyse circuit in terms before and after current passes that place; if the number of resistance increase in a circuit, equivalent resistance also increases as independent from their connection type. Keywords: misconception, electric circuit, CRI, diagnostic tests.
