Abstract

This research was conducted from July 2016 through October 2016 on the Urban Forests of Pekanbaru, Riau, Indonesia. The goals of this research are to analyze the area of urban forests required based on its ability and capacity for CO2 absorption and the need and capacity to provide O2 and water for its inhabitants in the city of Pekanbaru. The results of this research conclude that Urban Forest area required by the 2016 all area of the city of Pekanbaru based on the Urban Forest’s ability to absorb CO2 is 3,246 Ha, the Urban Forest area needed for O2 is 3,376 Ha and Urban Forest area needed for water is 7,360 Ha. The best approach in calculating the need for Urban Forests is based on water need.

Abstract

A hospital can apply Green Hospital concept in order to reduce even hospital environment and global environment pollution. The amount of patients at Dr. M. Djamil Padang hospital is 250.000-350.000 every year which make hospital generates medical waste ±400 kg/day on giving health service. Therefore, Dr. M. Djamil Padang hospital should have integrated and sustainable solid medical waste management. Purpose of this research is to analyze the management of solid medical waste management at Dr. M. Djamil Hospital on creating Green Hospital concept. Study of this research is qualitative study. This research was conducted on March-June 2018. There are 9 informants which determined by purposive sampling technique. Data is collected with in-depth interview, observation, and document reviewing. Data are analyzed by data reduction, presentation of data, and conclusion. Data validity were used source triangulation and method triangulation. Input component: hospital has writtern procedure in solid medical waste management, cost and staff regarding solid medical waste management is sufficient, all facilities is appropriate except for temporary storage for medical waste. Process component: waste segregation is carried out according to its character. Waste transportation to temporary storage uses trolly, howeverit doesn’t use special lane. Hospital cooperates with third party on exterminating medical waste with incinerator. Output component: overall, implementation of solid medical waste management at Dr. M. Djamil Hospital Padang has been in accordance with the Indonesian health regulation No. 1204/2004 and hospital has conducted the efforts towards green hospital by doing appropriate solid medical waste management. Referenced to the Indonesian health regulation No. 1204/2004, solid medical waste management at Dr. M. Djamil hospital is carried out properly. But there are still problems found, such as temporary storage is not in accordance with the standard. To achieve Green Hospital, hospital can fix broken facilities and apply waste reduction program.

Abstract

A study on domestication and triggering gonadal maturation technique ofOsteochilus hasselti CV were conducted from March to May 2015. The study aimed to obtaina high quality brooder with good gonado somatic index and high quality eggs and sperm, inthat the fishes were treated with defference diets. Fish samples were kept in 1 x 1 x 1 mcages, with density of 20, 30 and 40 fishes/cage respectively. Fishes were fed on three typesof food namely dried Tubifex, shrimp pellet (without vitamin E addition) and shrimp pelletthat is enriched with vitamin E. The fishes was fed 10 % of total fish body weight/day. Itrevealed domestication can be conducted by keeping them in the cages that natural habitat.During the first week, fishes were not fed and in the following weeks they were provided withthe treated fed. The best result obtained in the fishes that are 20 fishes/cage and are feed withshrimp pellet that is enriched with vitamin E. During the research period (80 days), 20 fisheswere sampled in the 4th gonadal maturity level, their maturity indices was 14,7 %, fecundity360 eggs, egg diameter 0,936 mm and semen volume produced 0,575 ml.

Abstract

Characteristic of Land degradation in Riau Province in the study can be viewed as any change or disturbance to the land perceived to be deleterious or undesirable area, loss of the biological and loss of natural vegetation, local economic productivity and complexity of rain-fed cropland, urban sprawl, irrigated cropland, forest and commercial development combination of processes arising from company/human activities. The conclusion was based on peat in Riau severe damage as a result of the drying system with the creation of canalization that followed the burning of forests and massive land over the last 17 years. As a result, a decline in Riau land of which 90% is the deepest tropical peat swamp in the world. Data analysis based on the results of the observation that has been going on for one year found severe damage to turf conditions Riau has been uneven in some areas. Damage to peat mainland Riau impact on the soil surface as is the case in Kalimantan, which is about 2 centimeters (cm) per year. Result and discussion revealed some of solutions to address the threat of damage due to the sinking of Riau burning peat. 1). “Rewetting” technique. 2) Back to traditional ecological knowledge management from the indigenous people. Whatever, this research refer for government to rseformation policy mindset; from the economic (oil palm plantation) oriented to promote the balance of nature and sustainability development.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to describe the implementation of Company Environmental Performance Programme (PROPER) on palm oil processing company in Riau Province and to analyze the effect of determining factors such as the announcement of company performance in the mass media, banking factor, global market demands, legal sanctions and the company's commitment to the implementation of the PROPER. Samples were selected at purposive random from palm oil processing plants located in Riau province which participated in PROPER in the year of 2013-2014. Data analysis were performed by multiple linear regression. The result shows that there was significant influence of the variables of the announcement in the mass media, banking factor, global market demands, legal sanctions and the company's commitment to environmental performance (PROPER). Variation of the independent variables (announcement in the mass media, banking factor, global market demands, legal sanctions and company’s commitment) could explain only 36.1% of the dependent variable (PROPER) while the remaining 63.9% is explained by other variables. Analysis of single determinant such as announcement in the mass media and global market demands has nonsignificantly positive effect on the environmental performance (PROPER). While the smooth provision of credit by banks and legal sanctions has non-significantly negative effect on the environmental performance (PROPER). On the other hand, the company's commitment in managing the environment has significant positive effect to the environmental performance (PROPER).

Abstract

Clinics’ solid medical waste at Siak Regency was not been carry out well. Based on the data at environment healt division of Siak health department, the volume of solid medical waste that produced was 0,74 kg/bed/day goods waste of patient treatments, 0,167 kg/patients/day waste of stay room, 0,071 kg/patient/day waste of delivery rooms and ICU rooms, and 0,004 kg/patients/day waste of polyclinic. The total of clinics’ solid medical waste at Siak Regency was 1,62 kg/day. There were 70% officers who responsible in managing the clinics’ solid medical waste did not act based on the rule, which is KEPMENKES RI No. 1428/MENKES/SK/XII/2006, 80% officers did not have knowledge about solid medical waste, 70% officers were irresponsive and 4 incinerators ini 4 clinics (Perawang, Kandis, Bunga Raya, and Mampura Clinics) were out of order. This research was conducted to analyze the officers action in managing the clinics’ solid medical waste. The population of this research was all waste labor manager and the sample was 66 waste labor manager. The data analysis was done in Univariat, Eksploratif and Multivariate.The finding shows that the officers’ act reduced to 66.7% the officers’ knowledge about clinics’ solid medical waste reduced to 59,1%, the irresponsive behaviour reduced 62,1%, and the waste facility was 72,7%. Based ont the multivariat test, it can be concluded that the officers who has irresponsive behaviour will did 14,2 times bad action in managing the clinics’ solid medical waste compared to positive action that controlled by knowledge variabel. The most impact of clinics’ solid medical waste management in 2016 was pruritis that was 52,33% and the least was get stabbed that was 3,7%.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate management strategies of mangrove buffer zonedevelopment of Liung River of Bengkalis Island for mangrove agroforestry. Research hasbeen conducted at mangrove areas of Liung River from February 23 through May 27, 2014.The research method is a survey method with descriptive analysis approach. Primary datawere collected through observation and in-depth interviews with a structured questionnaireinstrument. Secondary data were obtained from the relevant department of this research.RapidEye Satellite Imagery Analysis is used to determine the total area of mangrove LiungRiver and the buffer area and the development of strategies using SWOT anilysis. Theanalysis showed that the area of land covering an area of 609.5 hectares of mangrove bufferthe potential for development of mangrove agroforestry which is done in order to reduce thepressure on mangrove forests of Liung River and the opportunity to engage the community inmeeting the needs of mangrove woods. Priority strategies related to the management ofmangrove agroforestry development in principle in the position of management models thatare included in the category of growth and stability strategy, ie a strategy that is implementedwithout changing the direction of a predetermined strategy. It is need the support of localgovernments and other institutions and communities in the implementation of sustainabledevelopment.

Abstract

Based on a report by the Directorate General of Pollution and Environmental Damage Control of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), in 2015 nearly 68 percent or the majority of the quality of cistern water in 33 provinces in Indonesia was in a heavily polluted status. The main source of river pollutants is domestic or household waste. Human behavior is the biggest cause of environmental damage. The purpose of this study is to link knowledge with people's behavior in disposing household waste in the Sago River. This type of research is quantitative research with a cross-sectional approach. The independent variable in this study is people's knowledge in disposing household waste. The population in this study were all housewives who lived in the area around the Sago river, as many as 974 people. The samples in this study were 284 people and the sampling technique was Stratified Random Sampling. The instruments used were questionnaires and observation sheets. Primary data obtained through questionnaires and observations while secondary data from Sukaramai Kelurahan Pekanbaru data. Data analysis used chi square test with a = 0.05. The results showed that there was a relationship between knowledge and the behavior of disposing garbage with a value a<0,05. This research would be used for further research, namely to make the right program in handling garbage in the Sago River in Pekanbaru.

Abstract

The breakwater construction to overcome abrasion at Pambang Pesisir has resulted in the formation of land accretion which expanded the coastal land and giving rises to issues in public management. This research was aimed to formulate the alternative management of land accretion. A field survey and light unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) data acquisition were used to observe the accretion formed. Furthermore, Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) was used to generate the alternative managements of land accretion. Accretion land was estimated around 80,359.4 m2and based on coastal area protection, living creature’s habitat, fisheries resources, tourism and business development benefit, social community supporting and sustainability of social interaction criteria’s, this area had great potential to be managed with use it for mangrove planting or rehabilitation sites in ecological land-based management.

Abstract

The existence of forests continues to decline in terms of quantity (breadth) and quality through the process of deforestation and forest degradation. Deforestation and forest degradation have an impact on the destruction of ecosystems in the region and reduced forested areas that lead to less optimal functioning of areas as conservation areas. This study aims to determine the rate and rate of deforestation and forest degradation as well as the source of threats in the Kerumutan Wildlife Reserve area. The analytical method used by land cover change with stages: satellite image cutting, classification, groundcheck and analysis of deforestation rate and forest degradation. Classification uses visual interpretation techniques (on screen digitize). Factors affecting deforestation and forest degradation were analyzed by logistic regression. The results show that for 20 years (1996-2016) there has been deforestation of 2,879.73 hectares (0.15% per year) and forest degradation of 15,604.92 hectares (0.83% per year). Deforestation and forest degradation in SM Kerumutan is influenced by six driving factors such as population density, forest distance from road, forest distance from river, forest distance from settlement, forest distance from agricultural land and forest distance from industrial plantation forest.
