Abstract

Corrosion is the biggest problem for equipment that utilised metal, including infrastructure. Corrosion is degradation of metal quality due to the chemical reaction of a metal with the surrounding environment, including soil. Important indicators that contribute to the classification of the rate of corrosivity in soils are water content, pH, types of minerals, soil resistivity values and other chemical-physical parameters. The research area is in Anggadita Village, Klari District, Karawang Regency, West Java Province. Drilling and sampling locations are approximately 300 meters from the Citarum river. The article aimed to investigate between physical and chemical characteristics (soil texture, type of resistivity, pH) of weathered sediments of the Citarum river flood plain to the classification of soil corrosivity. Soil classification in the study area is fine grained and classified into silt with high plasticity (MH-ML) and clay with high plasticity (CH). The results of the analysis of the distribution of potential soil corrosivity in the study area indicate that the level of soil corrosivity is at a high level of corrosive to very high corrosive

The amount of improperly managed medical wastes become accumulated and causing widespread pollution. The roblem of this study is improperly managed medical waste getting more increased causing widespread pollution. Even though 15-25 % of this contamination were categorized as hazardous waste, the risk is much greater. The purpose of this study was to analyze the number and types of private healthcare medical waste and its potential pollution. This study used descriptive qualitative with interviews and observations after conducting a survey of calculating the number and identification of medical waste types produced by private dental healthcare in Pekanbaru. The results showed 69% of infectious, 27% toxic, and 4% radioactive wastes. The presence of this medical waste has the potential to polluting water and soil environment, triggering health problems for health workers and high risk communities, and disrupting social and economic aspects of residents at nearby waste disposal. It is recommended that private dental healthcare to reduce generated medical wastes and to use safe and eco-friendly materials and tools for dental and oral care.

Abstract

Raw water is water used for daily activities, which the quality has satisfied the health requirements and are consumable quality after being cooked (Permenkes No. 416 / Menkes / Per / IX / 1990). E. coli belong to a group of bacteria that are used as indicator of faecal contamination and cause human health problems like diarrhea. The purpose of this research is to determine factors that influence the amount of E. coli in the dug well. This research was conducted in West Sidomulyo village, Pekanbaru on April until October 2016. A quantitative research approach was used and cross sectional design study, by collecting 30 samples and using saturated sampling. Data that has been used in this research is primary data, which used three different survey mediums interviews, observation, and measurement of MPN raw water. The analysis of statistical test used chi-square with a significant level 5%. The results from this research from 30 respondents is 16 samples (53.3%) has groundwater indicated the presence of E. coli. Factors that has statistical significance on the number of E. coli is the distance of septictank with dug well (p value 0.003) and the physical condition of the dug well (p value 0.014). Another factors that statistically not associated with is the distance between the toilet with dug well (p value 1.000) and water-resistant depth (p value 1.000). Recomendations from this study are communities could do some water restoration by improving the lips and floor of raw water sources to water resistant. Community Health Centre of Sidomulyo required taking regular measurements of E. coli and providing counselling to the community about the septictank qualified. Nevertheless, the next researcher need to conduct research by including variables permeability and soil porosity.

Abstract

Domestic waste water is the highest contributor of the pollution at this time, because the waste which discharged into the stream is not being processed first, but it directlydischarged into the stream. In the big amount of waste, some microorganisms in the stream isno longer able to decompose contaminants that exist. The purpose of this study to determinewhether the wetland that contains Cyperus alternifolius can decompose the organic content ofBOD in domestic waste. The research method is using observation and measurement of theparameters BOD by using wetland which contain of Cyperus alternifolius with ArtificialWetland Subsurface Flow System (SSF-Wetlands).Results of laboratory tests of domesticwaste after processed by wetland can reduce the organic content of the BOD is 1632.0 mg/l to9 mg/l. Artificial Wetland System Subsurface Flow (SSF-Wetland) by using plants of watercan reduce the concentration of BOD in domestic waste. To get the quality of domestic wastein accordance with the quality standard, the required optimum residence time for 4 days.

Abstract

The study was conducted from January to July 2018 in four sub-districts (Bunga Raya, Sabak Auh, Sungai Apit and Sungai Mandau) in Siak Regency. The sample of farmers in this study were 203 people who were selected by purposive sampling. Data collection was done by interviewing techniques using questionnaires and field observations. The analysis of the sustainability of lowland rice farming was carried out based on the assessment of index and sustainability status using the Rap-Rice method in Multi-Dimensional Scaling (MDS). The purpose of this study was to analyze the index and the status of sustainability of the socio-cultural dimensions of wetland farming and analyze the role of each of the socio-cultural attributes that have sensitivity to the management of rice farming in the future. The results of Rap-Rice analysis of the seven socio-cultural attributes analyzed, two attributes provide sensitivity to the District (Bunga Raya, Sabak Auh and Sungai Mandau). Four attributes give sensitivity to Sungai Apit District. The attribute that gives sensitivity to all sub-districts is the attribute of attending training / counseling. Based on socio-cultural conditions, the analysis of wetland rice farming in Siak District showed a fairly sustainable category for Bunga Raya District (56.7%), Sabak Auh (50.80%) and Sungai Mandau (51.10%) while for Sungai Apit Subdistrict the value was obtained (47.70%) or less sustainable .
