This research aims to enhancement of physical learning results of dynamic electrical materials through problem based learning methods on IX B grade students at SMPN 3 Surabaya. The design of this research is Classroom Action Research which is carried out in two cycles with 4 stages which are planning, action, observation and reflection. The first and second cycles discuss the subject matter of dynamic electricity. The subject of this research is 38 students of IX B grade students at SMPN 3 Surabaya. The main of data collection technique used tests and observations, while supporting techniques used documentation. The results of the research show that there was an increase from cycle 1 to cycle 2. The average value of student learning outcomes in cycle 1 reached 73.42 and in cycle 2 it increased to 86.57. The classical completeness percentage of student learning outcomes in the first cycle reached 65.79% and in the second cycle increased 21.05% to 86.84%.Based on the results of the above research, it can be concluded that there is an increase in student learning outcomes after the application of the problem based learning model on subject matter of dynamic electricity on IX B grade students of SMPN 3 Surabaya, so problem based learning models can be used as alternative learning models in an effort to improve outcomes good learning.

Abstract

Early adopters of e-books claimed that e-books encouraged reading, and served as a means of improving individual academic performance. This appears to be unnoticed by academics in the Philippines. Objectives: The primary goal of this work is to conduct a study reporting the standardized root mean square residual (SRMR) of factors influencing e-book usage among students and robustness of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Design: The TAM criteria were used to design an online questionnaire survey focusing on the usefulness, ease of use perception, and attitude toward addressing the hypotheses to the structural equation model for using e-books. The questionnaire’s validity was confirmed by four specialists. The participants are undergraduates at City College of Angeles, Philippines. A total of 348 responses was analyze with aids of SmartPLS version 3.3.2. Results show that these four factors are related to each other and have a strong influence on e-book usage and adoption. Also indicated that perceived usefulness (PU) is the most significant and perceived ease of use (PEU) indicated the least supported. A total 65% variance explained, SRMR 0.08 NFI above 0.9 and RMS_theta 0.12 achieved. Ultimately, a thorough analysis of the study is recommended for future researchers.

Abstract

This study examines monetary policy shocks and economic growth in Nigeria. This study following ex post facto research design employed a regression model where economic growth was the dependent variable while money supply, inflation and interest rate were the explanatory variables. Time series data over the period of 1986 to 2018 sourced from Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Statistical Bulletin and World Bank Development Index (WDI) was utilized. The study employed the Vector Autoregression (VAR) techniques in the analysis. The result of the vector autoregression estimation shows that money supply exert a significant positive effect on economic growth in Nigeria while inflation and interest rate exert an insignificant positive effect on economic growth in Nigeria. The result proves that monetary policy shocks exert a significant effect on economic growth in Nigeria while interest rate and inflation do not show any effect. It was recommended that the CBN should ensure the downward review of the Monetary Policy Rate of 12% to 9 percent so as to enhance more financial accessibility.

Abstract

Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM) is an inquiry-based vocabulary strategy which uses pictures to transmit information to the learners. This study investigated how PWIM affected the vocabulary achievement and attitude of the Grade 8 students. There were 50 participants of the study, 25 from the group exposed to PWIM and 25 from the group not exposed to PWIM. The vocabulary achievements of the students were identified using the 64-item teacher-made pre-test, posttest, and retention test. Students’ attitudes towards vocabulary learning were determined through a 20-item Likert-Scale Questionnaire on The Learners’ Attitude Towards Vocabulary Learning adapted from Gimolatan (2016). Results showed that the group exposed to PWIM strategy outperformed the unexposed group in vocabulary achievement in terms of posttest and retention test. Non-PWIM strategy was able to increase the students’ vocabulary achievement, but the increase was not as high as of the learners exposed to PWIM. Also, the students exposed to PWIM improved their attitude towards vocabulary learning from moderately positive to positive attitude while the group not exposed to PWIM remained to have a moderately positive attitude. Moreover, the vocabulary achievement of students exposed to PWIM was significantly higher than the students who were not exposed to PWIM. There was also a significant difference on the attitude of the students exposed and not exposed to PWIM towards vocabulary learning. Thus, PWIM was effective in improving the students’ vocabulary achievement as well as in enhancing their attitude towards vocabulary learning.
