Respondent of 180 farmers ( 15 % of population) was drawn randomly from 13 villages. The respondent amount of each village was drawn proportionally.  Financial Analysis, Benefit Cost Analysis and SCUAF model were applied to quantify farm income, productivity, and soil erosion of conservation farming practices in the short and long run. The findings of the study highlighted a significant difference in farm income, productivity, and soil erosion between farming practices with and without conservation measures. In the long run, adoption of conservation yield a higher net present value (NPV) and productivity, and they also conserve the soil.

Abstract

Abstract

This study was aimed at finding out the existence of stress in work towards employees’ performance, and knowing the indicators of each shaper element of that influencing the employees’ performance of plant department of agribusiness industry at PT. NIC. The method of this study is case study involving 155 respondents. Using the Structural Equation Modelling (SEM), it is known that the influence of stress in work towards employees’ performance is significantly negative. It means that the advance of stress in work can take the employees’ performance down. The advance of stress in work was stimulated by stressor, in this case are job pressure and lack of support. The relationship between stressor and stress in work is positively significant. Lack of support is the most influence indicator of stressor variable instead of job pressure. This study concludes that stress in work significantly influence the employees’ performance. Generally, stress in work at plant department of PT. NIC is in low category (41.9%) and the performance is in high/good category (60.6%). It means that the existence of stress in work at this time have positive characteristics because it has played the role as motivator to work.

Abstract

As the country continues efforts  to liberate its market, Indonesias cocoa agroindustries now face a tough competition from industries of developed countries. Many of these industries had already felt the impact of their lack of competitiveness, causing them to lose their marketshare. The objective of this research is to analyze and identify the key determinants of cocoa agroidustry export competitiveness and build an econometric model. Furthermore this research also attempts to forecast the export competitiveness of Indonesian cocoa agroindustries. Results of econometric analysis showed that factors such as: exchange rate index, prices of related commodities, technological advances, per-capita income of Indonesia, and per-capita income of importing countries are factors influencing the export competitiveness of cocoa butter. While cocoa powder export competitiveness is influenced by exchange rate, interest rate, degree of trade liberalization, price of related goods, per-capita income of Indonesia, and per-capita income of importing countries. Furthermore it is forecasted that both commodities of the industry would expirience an increase of export competitiveness in the future.

Abstract

The objectives of this study are to evaluate the impacts of relevant policy alternatives and international pressure for Indonesian pulp and paper industries on the domestic economy. Ten policy alternatives set for period 1993-2003 are simulated with a simultaneous econometric model. The two-stage least squares method was used to estimate the parameters of the behavioral equations in the model.  Using income distribution and welfare criterias, the results indicate that the objective of decreasing pulp price will  improve the welfare of Indonesian society. It is essential that the policies would avoid a monopsony of  pulpmills for the timber-estate and a monopoly for the papermills.  Not significantly, the distribution of replanting fund  will improve in a little of the domestic economy.  Since the distribution of the fund be stopped, then producers' surplus will decline and the highest income distribution will be received by small-log producers, and the income transfer effects result a net welfare gain to Indonesian society. Stock dictation will be the domestic economy worse-off, but that would not be a case in the export embargo. Indonesia will loss in foreign exchange receipts because of the decreasing interest rate and international pressures. The domestic economy will decline due to this policies and pressure, so the net transfer effects are a welfare loss to Indonesian society as a whole

Abstract

Customer value and loyalty in many cases are often examined by using descriptive analysis. The usage of structural analysis for such cases in Indonesia is still limited. This study aimed to analyze the customer value and loyalty in a restaurant. Structural equation modelling is used to investigate the relationship between value and loyalty, and the factors which influence the customer value and loyalty. This study shows the positive relationship between such variables. Image is the most siginificant factor which influence the customer value.

Abstract

Abstract

Multilateral trade agreement under the auspice of the GATT/WTO is expected to change the nation’s competitiveness in the global economy. In the context of the agricultural agreement, there are three mayor changing policies to be committed by the WTO members: (a) market access, (b) export subsidies and (c) domestic support. Likewise, ASEAN regional agreement (AFTA) will reduce the relative price of international prices to the domestic prices and the exploitation of the comparative advantage.  The questions to be answered is whether such multilateral agreements affect agricultural trade in the region.  A recursive-dynamic computable general equilibrium (CGE) and the Global Trade Analysis Project (GTAP) database were used to assess such impacts. Two important scenarios were then considered: APEC and AFTA scenarios.  The results indicate that as import tariff levels are completely removed, the demand for imported goods would certainly be increased.  This is because domestic consumers (private consumers and industries) would face decreasing domestic prices.  However, the size of import changes depends on the initial tariff rates.  The higher the initial intra-regional tariffs, and the larger the tariff cuts, the higher the gains from the trade creation.  Under the AFTA trade liberalisation, rice output in the ASEAN member countries with the exception of Thailand is projected to shrink. The AFTA tariff reduction would cause an increase in exports in most ASEAN economic sectors.  Focusing on the export changes in the agricultural sectors, it is reported that the cereal and processed milk sectors are predicted to have noticeable increases in their exports. However, since trade liberalisation would have adverse effects on the uncompetitive producing sectors, adjustment assistance is highly recommended in order to compensate for any losses; for instance, reduced farm incomes.
