Abstract

This is to examine the effect of child service on church growth at the Jawi Wetan Christian Church (GKJW) Wiyung Surabaya. This type of research is to explain the influence of child services on the growth of Jawi Wetan Wiyung Christian Church in Surabaya. Respondents who were the sample of this study were 50 people who were members of the Jawi Wetan Wiyung Christian Church congregation in Surabaya. In this study using data analysis techniques, namely methods that relate to the data in the sample, using descriptive statistics that is collecting, summarizing and presenting data systematically based on the sample analyzed with the aim to determine the relationship between a veriabel with other variables namely veriabel X ( independent) and the variable Y (dependent) with the analysis technique is the Pearson correlation technique. From the results of the data analysis test that has been obtained shows that the variable X has an influence with the Y variable which can be seen from the existing value where R Square = 0.595. This means that the influence of children's services on the growth of the GKJW Wiyung Surabaya church has a very influential relationship. With the correlation value R obtained at 0.696 with the influence on Y or R Square (coefficient of determination) = 0.484. This shows that the percentage contributing to the influence of X on Y. R Square = 0.484 implies that 48.4% of the contribution of X to Y. R Square ranges from 0 to 1. Note that the smaller the number of R Square, the weaker relationship X to Y. Because the data above the value of R Square is greater then it indicates that the stronger or increasing the relation of X to Y. So this can be said that the correlation value or the influence of the relationship on X and Y is good.

Abstract

This research found that Islam rah}matan li al-‘a>lami>n in Shamsi Ali’s thought is a grace or welfare for the entire universe, Moslem and non Moslem as well. The concept of Islam rah}matan li al-‘a>lami>n according to Shamsi Ali is implemented in the Muslim’s lifestyle that devoted, peaceful, moderate, dynamic, progressive, democratic, and respectful toward differences which constitutes a blessing and positive contribution to human welfare and dignity. Islam rah}matan li al-‘a>lami>n is described in the gait of da’wah of Shamsi Ali through bi al-Lisa>n da’wah, bi al-Qala>m da’wah, and bi al-H{a>l da’wah by combining various models of da'wah which is also partly known in Christian mission: spiritual growth preaching model, educational preaching model, inclusive preaching model, and open preaching model. The last two models of preachings are unknown in the literature of Christian mission theory and at the same time will be Shamsi Ali’s contribution in the development of da'wah theory. This research promotes some of the previous researches: First, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, who stated that the Muslim community in America has applied the Islam rah}matan li al-‘a>lami>n which characterized by building a strong vision to unify moderates, anti-violence and against extremism. Second, Mohamed Al - Hilali explains there is effectiveness of leadership that can be felt by Islam in America. Third, Julie Nava wrote that Muhammad Shamsi Ali is a figure representing Islam rah}matan li al-‘a>lami>n principles. Fourth, Muhammad Fethullah Gülen in Turkey and out side Turkey has proved himself to be an example in applying Islam rah}matan li al-‘a>lami>n. This study refuses or does not support the research of Noor Ul Mobeen which stated that the first generation of Muslim students’ leadership in America in 2009-2012 failed in spelling out Islam rah}matan li al-‘a>lami>n. The approach used in this research: religion, history, leadership, and communication, while the method uses grounded research.

Abstract

Christian education is important in the family and school environment. There is no exception for schools that accept students / students with special needs. However, it should be noted that the teaching and learning process of Christian education often has problems, especially in public schools. Problems that arise are mainly caused by unpleasant learning conditions, which are caused by not having a permanent learning place. Always moving around, and the place is sometimes not suitable for students to study, such as in a warehouse, in rooms that have never been used, near bathrooms that are not insulated, in the teacher's room, in the library, etc. thus experiencing obstacles in the teaching and learning process. This of course does not meet the maximum yield target. There are also internal barriers, namely from the students themselves. one of them is disabled children, both physically and mentally. The learning process of disabled children cannot run smoothly due to their disability. Based on the hypothesis test there is a relationship and influence of "Christian Religious Education (PAK) with Children with Special Needs (ABK) in Understanding the Word of God." From thetable ANOVA, it was concluded that there was a significant effect of Christian Religious Education (PAK) with Children with Special Needs (ABK) in Understanding the Word of God.

Abstract

There are some ancient sacred texts for Christianity such as Hebrew Bible, Syriac Peshitta, Septuagint, Aramaic Targum and Latin Vulgate. However, the translation of these ancient texts is not always having the same nuance or literal meaning. Zechariah 6:3 and 6:7 are one example. The word “אֲמֻצִּים” or strong has been translated diversely in our ancient sacred texts. Therefore, this paper will attempt to discuss multiple translations for the word “אֲמֻצִּים” or strong. The discussion will cover the purpose of these various translations. The possible reason behind the selection of the meaning will also be discussed in this paper.

Abstract

Broadly speaking, the subject of the Christology that is still worth talking about in the academic pulpit is the title "Messiah" carried by Jesus Christ. In general, the Judeo-Islamic community and some Christians are still dilemma in positioning Jesus, especially regarding the worthiness of Jesus Christ to be accepted as the Messiah. Placing Jesus Christ in the right place for all three of these great religions has proven to be no easy matter. Especially for Judeo-Islam, Christians generally accept Jesus Christ as the Messiah. On the contrary for Jews and Islam. Some Jews gave rise to a half-movement of Judaism and half-Christians in terms of seeing Jesus as the Messiah. Likewise with Islam. Here are some of the main problems. Keynote: Messiah, Jesus Christ, Semitic Religion.

Abstract

This paper has a few goals. First is to discover if the Greek translator of Leviticus uses literal (consistent) and / or free (inconsistent) translation technique. Then, this paper will list and group the evidences of the consistency of the Greek translator in this book. If there are any examples that show the inconsistency to the MT or looseness of the translator, then this paper will study every example carefully and it will categorize into a group. This group will be created based on the examples that share the same pattern or the similarities. The comparison of MT and LXX will be used as the methodology of this paper. Every verse will be analyzed and presented in comparison format until chapter five to have a basic knowledge of the patterns and the characteristics of the Greek Translator. The patterns, however, will be scrutinized in the whole book of Leviticus. In depth and a detailed analysis of this comparison will be put on the appendices. This methodology will be employed to accomplish the goals of this paper.

Abstract

Parents have the potential to doubt the the teacher’s quality in teaching the students, that is why a barometer or indicators are needed so that the teacher as an educator can be assessed objectively. Ideas built by the experts are needed as the best solution as well as biblical principles to find the right formula. This study uses the exegesis method which is seen through contextual analysis, syntactical analysis, verbal analysis, theological analysis and homiletical analysis. This study found what is meant by parents' assessment on the teachers’ teaching quality according to 2 Timothy 2:15-21 is the act of assessing the intelligence, the potential done by the father or the mother regarding good quality or services in facilitating the activities of learning or training through explanations, questions and answers, discussions, and expressing the opinions guided by competent educators or instructors, who are characterized by: teaching professionally (verse 15), teaching correctly in accordance with learning material (paragraph 15), teaching in accordance with learning objectives (verse 16-19), teaching with the right media (verse 20) and teaching with the right method (verse 21).

Specifically chapter 6:3, explains the essence of the solution to the problem, namely the selection of 7 servants of God. Obviously Dr. Luke reveals the criteria of God's servant who can be the solution to the problems that occur. At present, most Churches of God are more concerned with the physical buildings, facilities and infrastructure of the Church rather than thinking about how to get God's servants who can answer the needs of the congregation and the challenges of the times. What is even more concerning is that many of the Churches of God are procuring servants of God who only look at the side that can increase the image and popularity of the Church. So often the Church is.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of family altar according to Matthew 18:20 on the spiritual growth of the GKA Agape Surabaya congregation. The reason for this research is due to the low growth of the faith of the congregation due to lack of time to fellowship with God. The sample of this study was 91 people of GKA Agape Surabaya, who were obtained through simple random sampling. The results showed that: 1). there is an influence between the organization of the family altar with the spiritual growth of the church (r = 0.337; R square = 0.114; p = .000) ; 2). the contribution independent of the variable implementation of the family altar the dependent variable of the church's spiritual growth was 11.4%. This research implies that when holding a family altar has a positive influence on the growth of the congregation, a congregation that has a good and regular family altar is expected to have good spiritual growth as well.

Abstract

Many people have difficulty understanding the Trinity. Likewise, many Christians themselves do not understand this basic doctrine. Even more so for people outside of Christianity, they assume that Christians believe in three Gods or even think that God has a sexual relationship with Mary. There is also the opinion that the triune God is one person with three functions. The three views above are not true. Thophilus of Anthiokia was the first to use the term Trinity or trias in Greek. Whereas Tertullian was the first to use this term in Latin form. It was from Tertullian that the terms substance (substance) and person(personal, person) were used in formulating the concept of the Trinity. Every Christian must understand what is fundamental to his faith. The Trinity is a basic doctrine that must be correctly understood and accepted by every Christian. Without a proper understanding of this doctrine, it will undermine other related doctrines, namely the doctrine of creation, the doctrine of Christology, the doctrine of redemption, and the doctrine of eternal life. The trinity doctrine is a doctrine which is accepted by all Christian churches for almost 2000 years. Only heretical schools and deviant movements do not accept this doctrine.
