Abstract

Abstract

Facing the disruptive era IPB Library needs to anticipate various changes by conducting self-evaluation through assessing the impact of their existence for students. Therefore, this study aims: (1) Knowing the relationship between the frequency of student visits to the IPB Library and the GPA; (2) Knowing the relationship between the number of IPB library books borrowed by students and the GPA; (3) Knowing the benefits of the IPB Library in supporting student learning and research processes; (4) Knowing the role of IPB librarians in supporting the learning and research processes of their students; (5) Formulate strategies for the IPB Library to increase its benefits for the learning and research processes of its students. This research is a quantitative study, using a correlation test to see the relationship between the frequency of student visits to the IPB Library and the number of the IPB Library books borrowed by the students with the GPA. This study also used a survey method with a questionnaire accompanied by interviews with three IPB lecturers. The results showed that there was no correlation between the frequency of student visits to the library and the number of library books borrowed on the student's GPA. However, students' perceptions regarding the support of the IPB Library on their learning and research are very good, the average percentage of respondents who agree on the benefits of the library in their learning and research processes is above 90%. Respondents' perception of librarian support in helping students learn is very good, but librarian support for student research is considered lacking. Strategies to increase the benefits of the library and librarians on student learning and research process need to be adjusted to the behavior of the millennial generation. Therefore, it is recommended that the IPB Library immediately implement the concepts based on industrial revolution 4.0. IPB librarians should be improved their competence related to information literacy skills and mastery of information and communication technology.

Abstract

The achievements of librarians' work are shown by their success in carrying out every item of activities as stated in Permenpan no. 9 of 2014 and the regulation of the Head of the National Library No. 11 of 2015. To get credit numbers, each librarian must make a list of proposals for credit number submission (DUPAK). During this time, dupak proposals made by librarians vary greatly. There are librarians who quickly collect dupak, there are librarians who have difficulty making DUPAK so that it takes a long time for many years, some are at all up to the end of dupak's proposed tolerance, which is five years still can’t make dupak even end up with dismissal as a functional official librarian. This paper aims to provide an explanation of the use of online DUPAK applications for librarians in compiling DUPAK. To improve the ease and speed of the process of preparing and collecting DUPAK librarians, DUPAK online can help librarians in the Ministry of Agriculture. For the TPJP secretariat the application can accelerate the delivery of DUPAK from librarians and the provision of librarian staffing administration needs. But to achieve this, the assessment team needs to improve its competence in computerized operations. Librarians must be disciplined in compiling DUPAK in the way every completed work is immediately presented into the system, and more socialization is needed for librarians, assessment teams and members of the TPJP secretariat before dupak online application is applied to all librarians.

Abstract

The development of a library is strongly influenced by the environment of the users has to be serve. This environment is currently known as the VUCA ecosystem, namely Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity. VUCA itself emerged as a result of technological developments which are currently called the industrial revolution 4.0. This paper is a literature review that discusses the influence of the VUCA ecosystem in library development based on the literature and related research reports. Literature is collected both online and printed literature and then discussed. Various papers relevant to the VUCA ecosystem were collected from books, journals, and websites, then analyzed descriptively. Various library developments must consider the VUCA ecosystem so that the services provided by libraries are in accordance with the needs of users in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0. Libraries are entities that are strongly influenced by the VUCA environment or ecosystem. Therefore, in order for libraries to survive in the era of destructive technology that causes VUCA, the librarian as the driving force of the library must have a service breakthrough that can get out of the VUCA trap.
