Abstract

Underground Coal Gasification is a method used to convert underground coal seams into a gaseous product commonly called synthetic gas through a flammable chemical process without going through a conventional mining process. The UCG concept was first developed in England which was then continued by the Soviet Union in field trials of UCG which was used as a power plant. In Indonesia, Tekmira has begun to research UCG, but there are very few publications on UCG. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct research on laboratory scale UCG for analysis of gas products to support the study of renewable energy. UCG testing begins with sample preparation followed by laboratory-scale coal gasification testing. There is a sample of coal used in the test, namely Subbituminous Coal from Tanjung Enim, South Sumatra. Initial combustion is carried out by flowing propane gas into the reactor tube using a burner. Furthermore, a mixture of oxygen gas and compressed air is used to keep the coals burning. After obtaining the gas from the combustion, then gas sampling is carried out using a suction pump which will be stored in a tedlar gas bag. Combustion gas products will be checked for syngas concentration using a Gas Chromatography tool to determine the concentration of CH4, CO2 and O2 gases. From the tests that have been carried out, the gas concentrations of O2 are 3.67%, CO2 41.51%, and CH4 6.93%. Coal in the confined test conditions has good conditions with indications of seeing the concentration of CH4, O2, and CO2 gas.

Abstract

The increase in population has increased the need for fuel oil and gas, our fossil energy reserve is increasingly decreasing, while its needs continue to increase. This fact opens up a chance to use renewable energy and reduce the use of fossil fuels. In addition to the depletion of the number of fossil fuels, other important reasons for reducing its use are environmental damage issues, ongoing prices, and greater subsidization burden. To overcome the situation, can be pursued in two ways. First reducing the level of consumption and both continue to develop other alternative energy sources, especially renewable energy sources. Lately emerged various findings. Ranging from cassava, sweet potatoes, to corn that is processed into bioethanol. But on its way, the development of the fuel is often burp. The clash with food needs is one of the challenges. While the crop fails and the land needed to be another problem that cannot be underestimated, especially amid the issue of global warming. BioEthanol itself is processed from carbohydrates or starch contained in natural materials. During this time bioethanol is produced by many food crops such as corn, cassava, and sweet potatoes. In fact, these materials are still needed as a support for foodstuffs. Through this study, the author lifted the green algae (Cladophora sp) as one of the alternative solutions in the production of bioethanol which can someday become an alternative fuel. This is because green algae (Cladophora sp) are scattered everywhere and the Carbohydrates content is quite high i.e. 52.54-60.98% (Khuantrairong et al., 2011). In this research researchers utilize the green algae to produce alternative fuels by looking at how the H2SO4 solvent concentration affects the resulting product.

Abstract

The need for electrical energy in an industry is very important for the production process to run. To meet the demand for electrical energy, one can use a power source from PLN or use an independent power source by establishing a power plant. The Power Plant Unit is a unit that functions to provide electrical energy needs for the production process at PPSDM Migas. Electricity generation in the Power Plant Unit, namely Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Diesel (PLTD) using a generator set that uses diesel fuel. A generator set or generator is a generator that has been equipped with a prime mover. Gensets that work continuously are certainly inseparable from disturbances such as the occurrence of overloads. Overload disturbance occurs because the amount of load power supplied by the generator is greater than the capacity of the working generator. Air Circuit Breaker (ACB) is one of the protective equipment used to protect generator sets. Inside the ACB there is Over Current Trip equipment that will work if there is an overload on the generator. The capacity of the generator used is 1000kVA/400V with a nominal generator current of 1443.38 A. Under normal load conditions, the installed load power is 354.5 kW with a load current of 639.6 A. Then at peak load conditions, the installed load power is 510,3 kW with a load current of 920.7 A. In both conditions, the load current does not exceed the nominal current of the generator so Over Current Trip does not instruct ACB to trip. However, it is possible for overload disturbances to occur if there is no coordination between the operator at the power plant and the load operator (refinery & utilities) so that the operation of the load is not controlled.

Abstract

This research integrates the top management teams (TMT)power theory, CPA economic independence theory, and reputation maintenance theory to explore the impact on audit quality. This study used the sample of firms listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE) and Taipei Exchange (TPEx) from 2009 to 2016. The empirical results show that as the TMT power of Taiwan companies increases, the audit quality is higher. It is different from the general research that the TMT will conduct earning management based on self-interested behavior. The inference is due to Taiwan's relatively high proportion of family companies. In the face of the trend of social responsibility and the requirements of regulatory agencies, the company’s strategy of maintaining corporate image and successfully operating over to the next generation is presented with high audit quality. In addition, when CPAs face important clients, the CPA’s economy depends on important customers is greater than the effect of reputation maintenance, the audit quality will be reduced. When the TMT power is greater, it will offset the CPA's economic independence effect and enhance the audit quality.

Abstract

Organic waste is waste that contains carbon compounds that come from living things, such as fruit and vegetable waste. However, the community is still not able to manage it optimally, even though organic and non-organic waste can still be processed into useful products. This effective way can be realized through the manufacture of eco-enzymes that can be applied at the household level. Eco-enzyme is a liquid extract produced from the fermentation of vegetable and fruit residues with brown sugar as a substrate. The eco-enzyme has a strong sweet and sour fermented aroma due to the peels of oranges, pineapples, and papayas. This environmentally friendly enzyme can be produced using fruit peel, brown sugar, and water. Eco-enzyme solution when mixed with water, will react and can be used as a liquid disinfectant. Disinfectants commonly used are generally derived from synthetic chemicals in the form of artificial chemicals. One of the natural ingredients that can be used as a disinfectant is eco-enzyme liquid. This study aims to make a disinfectant using an environmentally friendly enzyme liquid, namely eco-enzyme. The method used in this research is a mixed method of fermentation of orange peel waste, pineapple and papaya, brown sugar, and water with a ratio of 3:1:10. Analysis for eco-enzyme pH, and Phytochemicals, while for disinfectants include pH, total phenol content with UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, hard water emulsion stability, and antibacterial test. All samples of the disinfectant product met the requirements of SNI 06 – 1842 of 1995, besides that, the best disinfectant product was found in a ratio of 1:10 which could reduce bacterial growth.

Abstract

This research examines the dynamic load resistance of the Giromill type wind turbine to the variable wind speed, which is converted to the value of the force received by the wind turbine blades. The analysis was carried out numerically using Autodesk Inventor Professional 2019 software. The variations in wind speed used were 2.5 m/s with a force value of 0.195 N for the Giromill turbine, at a speed of 3.5 m/s with a force value of 0.274 N, at 4.5 m /s with a Force value of 0.352 N and a wind speed of 5.5 m/s with a force rating of 0.430 N. From the simulation results using the Autodesk Inventor Pro 2019 software, the effect of gravitational force is greater than the wind force in, so stress analysis is mainly caused by gravity while the wind force has no significant impact. The simulation results also have a characteristic that the higher the wind speed, the lower the stress value. In addition to the dynamic load simulation, the author also tries to implement the Giromill wind turbines in Muara Enim district, South Sumatra, Indonesia. The wind turbine blade rotation will be faster, and the Wind Generator will produce a greater voltage if it is supported by sufficient wind speed.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the calculation of the depreciation cost allocation for fixed assets and its effect on operating income when using other alternative methods such as the double-declining balance depreciation method. Fixed assets will experience a decrease in economic value due to usage, damage, and obsolescence due to economic factors and technical factors. The method of depreciation of fixed assets that are used must be following the applicable accounting financial accounting standards, including the straight-line depreciation method and the double-declining balance depreciation method. Sources of data used in this study are secondary data types. Secondary data obtained in this study are from the official website of the IDX (Indonesia Stock Exchange) in the form of financial reports and fixed asset data for 2014-2018. The type of data of this research is quantitative, while the data processing method is the straight-line method and the multiple declining balance method. The results of the analysis in this study can be concluded that the method of depreciation of fixed assets used by the company is the straight-line depreciation method because operating income which is influenced by the straight-line depreciation method has a higher result compared to the double-decreasing balance depreciation method.
