Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the level of mathematical communication ability of students in learning that uses a scientific approach, find out the mistakes that are often made by students and which are the causes of students making mistakes. The subjects in this study were students of class XI MIPA 3 MAN 1 Cianjur. This research method is descriptive qualitative and the instruments used consist of tests of mathematical communication ability and interviews. The results of this study are students' mathematical communication ability in explaining ideas, situations, and mathematical relationships in writing with real objects, pictures, graphics and algebra by 34%. Mathematical communication ability of students in explaining ideas, situations, and mathematical relationships in writing with real objects, pictures, graphics and algebra by 25%. The ability of students' mathematical communication in expressing everyday events in language or mathematical symbols or composing a mathematical model of an event is 30%. Mistakes that are often made by students in this study are concept errors, operating errors, and lack of accuracy. As for what causes students to make mistakes is due to factors of forgetfulness, lack of accuracy, difficulty in learning and less study time at home.

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang pengaruh make a match berbantuan CD pembelajaran terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa pada materi persamaan trigonometri sederhana. Penelitian ini dirancang dengan rancangan penelitian tindakan kelas. Penelitian ini menggunakan observasi keaktifan siswa, hasil tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa sebagai instrumen dalam pengumpulan data. hasil penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa penerapan langkah-langkah make a match berbantuan CD pembelajaran dalam pembelajaran matematika dapat membantu siswa memahami materi persamaan trigonometri sederhana. Hal ini dapat dilihat pada rata-rata hasil tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis yang dicapai oleh siswa. Pada siklus I, rata-rata hasil yang dicapai yaitu 68, 40. Pada siklus II, rata-rata hasil belajar yang dicapai yaitu 72,31. Rata-rata ketuntasan hasil belajar siswa secara klasikal pada siklus I yaitu 66,67% dan pada siklus II yaitu 86,67%. Rata-rata kinerja siswa pada siklus I sebesar 2,7 dan pada siklus II sebesar 3,2. Kinerja siswa, aktivitas siswa dalam proses pembelajaran termasuk dalam kategori efektif, respon siswa terhadap pembelajaran adalah positip dan ketuntasan secara klasikal tercapai, maka efektif digunakan untuk mengajarkan materi persamaan trigonometri sederhana.

Abstract

The purpose of study is to compare the increase in mathematical creative thinking ability between students who learn to get a mind mapping model based on optimizing right brain function and Problem Based Learning models. The research method used was a quasi experiment in the form of the pretest post-test two treatment design. The study population was seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Kuningan with sampling using purposive sampling technique.The research instrument used in the form of the test instrument and non-test.The results showed that: (1) there are differences in mathematical creative thinking ability among students who get mind mapping model based on optimization of right brain function and model of Problem Based Learning; (2) there is a difference of improvement of mathematical creative thinking ability between students who get mind mapping model based on optimization of right brain function and model of Problem Based Learning; (3) The average percentage of student responses shows that almost half of the students showed interest in the mind mapping model based on optimization right brain function and the Problem Based Learning model.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the level of mathematical creative thinking ability of students in solving trigonometry problems. This research approach is a qualitative approach of descriptive type. Data collection techniques are carried out using test methods, interviews and documentation. Data validity test is done by triangulation technique. Data is analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and inference. The research instrument used is a test of mathematical creative thinking ability. The results of this study, from 12 random high school grade XI students who have taken the test online, as many as 3 people get grades in high categories, as many as 3 people get grades in the moderate category, and as many as 6 people who score in low categories. From the test data and interviews, from the data can be known that the mathematical creative thinking ability of most students of grade XI random high school in Garut district is said to be very low.

Abstract

Mathematics learning with sorogan method assisted by peer tutor is learning where students do the exercises in front of the teacher directly, but the students have studied the exercices with their peers before. The aim of this research was to determine the effectiveness of mathematics teaching with sorogan method assisted by peer tutor. The results of this study was mathematics learning with sorogan method assisted peer tutors was effective and there was an increase of understanding the concept in experimental class.Keywords : sorogan, peer tutor, understanding the concept

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan pencapaian dan peningkatan kemandirian belajar siswa dalam matematika sebagai dampak penggunaan model Learning Cycle 5E dengan Teknik Metakognitif (LCT), Learning Cycle 5E (LC), dan pembelajaran Konvensional (KV). Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa SMP di  Indramayu, Indonesia. Sampel berjumlah 173 siswa kelas VIII  yang mewakili satu sekolah level tinggi dan satu sekolah level sedang. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuasi eksperimen dengan desain kelompok kontrol pretes-postes. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa skala kemandirian belajar siswa dan lembar observasi.  Dari hasil penelitian disimpulkan: 1) Berdasarkan keseluruhan siswa, tidak terdapat perbedaan pencapaian dan peningkatan kemandirian belajar antara kelompok LCT dan LC, namun pencapaian dan peningkatan kemandirian belajar kelompok LCT dan LC lebih baik dari kelompok KV; 2) Terdapat pengaruh interaksi antara model pembelajaran (LCT, LC, dan KV) dan level sekolah (tinggi, sedang) terhadap peningkatan kemandirian belajar.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the enhancement of the students’ mathematical creative thinking ability in two classes whereby in one class, the students learning through problem-basedlearning “what’s another way” and in another class, the students learning through discovery learning. The population of the study were all seven grade students in a junior high schools in Pekalongan regency. The sampling technique used purposive sampling and involved two classes as samples. The data were gathered by employing three research instruments such as mathematics creative thinking ability test, teaching materials, and observation sheet. The results of the study indicated that there was no significance difference in the enchancement between student who recieved WAW and student who recieve discovery learing.Keywords: Problem-Based Learning “What’s Another Way”, Discovery Learning, and Mathematics Creative Thinking Ability

Abstract

This article aims to find out how the mathematical representation abilities and difficulties experienced by students in solving problems in the Linear Program course. The research method uses descriptive quantitative methods. Subjects in this study were students of level III Mathematics Education Study Program, University of Suryakancana, data collection was carried out using test instruments in the form of descriptive questions related to mathematical representation abilities. The results of this study are: 1) Students have a fairly good mathematical representation ability and are classified as moderate in the linear program course but are still weak in indicators of the ability to represent mathematical expressions (making mathematical equations or models, solving problems involving mathematical expressions). This is because students are not familiar with story questions and non-routine questions and mathematical representation questions; 2) Students experience difficulties in designing, compiling, formulating and constructing mathematical models correctly, determining the feasible area (solution area) as well as the solution point of the given problem, as well as carelessness and lack of student care in calculating and completing the iteration process and forgetting to determine variables entry and exit so that it has an impact on the work results / improper solutions of the problems presented.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The research aims to develop a learning devices  on Brain Based Learning (BBL), to enhance the problem solving abilities. This research is a development by using models Plomp, which consists of the initial investigation phase, design phase, construction phase of realization or phase test, evaluation, and revision, and implementation phase. The study was conducted in vocational Islamic Centre Cirebon on three sample classes. Variables include the study of learning, motivation, skills, processes, teacher and student response, and problem solving skills. Data collection techniques (in a row) using validation sheets, tests, questionnaires, observation, and TKPM sheet. The results showed the average value of the syllabus, lesson plans, student books, LKS row in the range of 1-5 is 4.55; 4.32, 4.45 and 4.40 so that the study considered valid. Positive response shown by the students and teachers towards learning, which indicate the practical learning. Increase problem solving ability. motivation and skills of the students, the effect of 81.5% of the students' problem-solving abilities. The average of the results of the test problem solving skills 77.56 KKM exceed 70, so that the average problem-solving ability to learn to use Brain Based Learning is better than average ability to use problem solving methods ekspository. It is concluded that the study is valid, practical, and effective. Keywords: effective, Brain Based Learning, problem solving abilities
