Abstract

Tubifex Sp. is an alternative feed for the growth of fish larvae and seeds. This study aims to determine the growth of Tubifex Sp. using fermentation media tofu pulp and vegetable waste. The research will be carried out from September to October 2020. Sample Tubifex Sp. taken at the Acai river, Jayapura City. Effective Microorganisms (EM-4) are used as a solution for the fermentation process. After 30 days, weighing is carried out to determine the growth of Tubifex Sp. The results showed that the growth of Tubifex Sp. on tofu pulp media (55.61 g) was higher than the vegetable waste media (46.7 g) and the control variable (35.5 g). There is a significant difference in the average growth of Tubifex Sp. on tofu dregs media with control variables. Otherwise, there is no significant difference between the growth rates of Tubifex Sp. on tofu dregs medium with vegetable waste, as well as between the average growth of Tubifex Sp. on vegetable waste media with control variables. Tofu pulp fermentation is better than vegetable waste as a substrate for the cultivation of Tubifex Sp. The availability of tofu pulp which is quite abundant and easy to obtain is highly recommended as a substrate fermentation medium for the growth of Tubifex Sp.Keywords: Tubifex Sp.; Fermentation; Tofu pulp; Vegetable waste; Fish feed

Abstract

Sedimentation can be one of the factors that limit coral life because it can cover coral polyps, in high numbers it can even cause coral death. The purpose of this study was to determine the rate of sedimentation in the coral reef ecosystem and to determine the condition of coral reef cover in the waters of Kampung Yakore. This research was carried out from January to May 2021. The method used in this study was to collect sediment in a sediment trap for 14 days and the LIT (Line Intercept Transect) method to observe the condition of live coral cover. Data were collected at 3 stations at a depth of 3 m and 5 m. The results showed that the sedimentation rate in the waters of Kampung Yakore was moderate to very heavy where the highest sedimentation rate was at station 3 with a depth of 5 m. The sedimentation rate ranged from 30.28 – 67.74 mg/cm²/day at a depth of 3 m. Meanwhile, at a depth of 5 m, the sedimentation rate ranged from 68.30 – 133.21 mg/cm²/day. This shows that the sedimentation rate in the waters of Kampung Yakore is at a very heavy impact level. It is suspected that the high sedimentation rate is caused by the time when data collection is carried out during the rainy season so that the river discharge is getting bigger and carrying sediment to the sea. The percentage of live coral cover in the waters of Kampung Yakore was classified as "moderate" to "good" with percentages ranging from 39.28% - 71.76% at a depth of 3 m and ranging from 30.7% - 56.12% at a depth of 5 m. The highest percentage of the cover was at station 2 with a depth of 3 m, which was 71.76%.Key Words: Sedimentation Rate; Coral Reef Ecosystem; Coral Cover; Yakore VIllage

Abstract

Eel (Anguilla spp.) is a fish that has a perfect tail, dorsal and anal fins. The eel's fins are equipped with visible soft fingers and the three fins are connected to each other, starting from the back to the tail and ending at the abdomen of the body. The thing that stands out from the eel is the presence of a pair of pectoral fins that are visible on both sides of the body which is located behind the head so that it is suspected that the fins are the ears. Identification of eel species is very important for the management of a resource. The ADL/% TL key character comparison is one way of identifying the types of eels that can be applied. Sampling and measurement of water parameters were carried out on 23 to 25 August 2020. From the research results obtained 1 type of eel, namely Anguilla bicolor (ADL/% TL = -0.37 to 4.76) where the eel entered the Yellow ell phase. This Anguilla bicolor eel likes slow-flowing waters (lentic waters) and sandy mud. Overall the water parameters in the Air Ngalam River are still in optimal conditions to support the survival of the eels, namely temperature 28.5 to 29.8oC, salinity 0 ppt, pH 7.1 to 7.4, brightness 96.48%, and flow velocity 23.78 cm/s. Based on statistical tests, the typology of the Air Ngalam river affects the types of eels found. Keywords: Eel; Phase; Typology; Identification

Abstract

Abstract

The island of Kalimantan, known as Borneo to the international community, consists of three allied countries, namely Sarawak, Brunei Darussalam and Indonesia. In this part of the island there is an Indonesian territory whose northern part is directly adjacent to Sarawak and the Natuna Sea, the area is the Province of West Kalimantan. West Kalimantan province covers an area of 421,891 km2 and has hundreds of small and large rivers. The number of river flows in this province makes West Kalimantan province one of the provinces known as the area of a thousand rivers. The existence of the river is the soul of the people of West Kalimantan from the past until now. The Peniung River is one of the rivers located in Ribang Kadeng Village, Kalis District, Kapuas Hulu Regency. This river crosses the villages of Ribang kadeng and Na'sebintang (Nanga Sebintang) and flows into the Mandai River at the village of Na' Peniung. Information related to the diversity of fish species is necessary for the sustainable management of fishery resources. With this information, of course, the determination of policies and decision-making in the process of water resource management or use of hydrographic basins can be carried out correctly. However, the reality he is facing today is the lack of information on the diversity of freshwater fish, especially from the West Kalimantan region. This study managed to obtain 126 individuals of freshwater fish consisting of 10 families and 15 species. The diversity index obtained is moderate, index of Evenness is high and there are no dominant species.
