Abstract

CHEMICAL COMPOSITION AND ORGANOLEPTIC CHARACTERISTICS OF PROCESSING BAT (Pteropus alecto) FRESH MEAT. Study was done to evaluate chemical composition and preference degree of the consumers on the processing bat meat compared with beef, chicken and cakalang fish using steam cooking method, flavor cooking and spicy cooking method. Chemical composition was analyzed by proximate analysis using procedures of the Association of Official Analytical Chemists. The organoleptic test was done by hedonic test. Data of the hedonic test were analyzed using Kruskal-Wallis method. To evaluate data distribution of the panelist respons on the sample test, the data were using plot graphic box. The hedonic scales were using 1 to 7. The variables used were including color, taste, flavor, tenderness and general acceptance. Results of proximate analyses of bat meat based on fresh meat indicated that water content was 67.21 percents and protein was 20.48 percents. Based on dry matter, the protein contents of bat meat, pork, chicken, and cakalang fish were 48.97 percents, 69.08 percents, 67.14 percents, and 69.41 percents, respectively. The water contents were 5.76 percents, 9.92 percents, 8.27 percents, and 9.90 percents, repsectively; the calcium (Ca) contents were also 10.62 percents, 1.09 percents, 1.36 percents, 1.38 percents, respectively; while Phosphor (P) contents were 1.46 percents, 0.69 percents, 0.66 percents, and 0.72 percents, respectively. Variance analysis for organoleptic test showed that meat type with different processing affected significantly on taste, color, flavor, tenderness and general preference of bat meat, beef meat, chicken meat and cakalang fish by steam cooking, chicken flavor, and spicy cooking methods. Conclusion, bat meat contained protein relatively lower than that in pork meat, chicken meat, and cakalang fish, but mineral contents were relative higher. Results of organoleptic test showed that preference degree of processing meat were higher on using spicy flavor. The specific test on taste, color, flavor, tenderness and general responsed showed relatively the same responses by the panelists.   Key word: Chemical composition, organoleptic test, processing bat meat

Abstract

Although the livestock sub-sector contributes significantly to the economic growth of North Sulawesi, but to date not include leading commodity in the agro-industry development. The problems to be studied in livestock development efforts is the absence of the establishment / implementation of appropriate strategies to be able to maximize the potentials that exist that allow livestock into a competitive industry. The study was conducted through the following steps: - Conducting searches of information sources that can give an idea of ​​the limitations, the principal research, development and problems in the sub-sector prternakan, regional understanding, understanding strategic management, then set formulations for the purpose of research towards implementation. - Conducting a survey of experts to examine and define the elements / sub-elements associated with the development strategy of the farm estate sector agro-industry. - Designing systems structuring with a review / determination of the development of key elements, with Interpretative Structural Modeling (ISM). Based on the results of expert assessments set by 4 elements and 12 sub-elements that have a strong interaction with the development of animal husbandry in North Sulawesi. Into elements have analyzed the level of interaction with the ISM-VAXO technique. The first stage is to study contextual relationships in matrix form SSIM-VAXO. This method has been able to classify all of elements into four quadrants based on the value Drive Power and DependenceI and in a hierarchical structure based on rank and level, which then informs the development of animal husbandry sub key elements namely: Provision of sub-elements of human resources with knowledge and skills appropriate breeding (7) and sub-elements Improved managerial skills training programs (8). Abstract

THE EFFECT OF FEED RESTRICTION ON THE PERFORMANCE OF BROILERWITH DIFFERENT STRAINS. This study aims to measure the growth performance of broilers with different strains through a feed restriction pattern at the beginning of growth (starter). This study used 72 day-old broilers consisting of 36 Cobb strains and 36 Lohman strains selected from each of them. -each 100 heads to get almost the same body weight obtained successively from PT. Charoen Phokphand and PT. Japfa Comfeed Indonesia. The design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with a 2x4 factorial pattern with 3 replications. The A factor is the difference in strains (A1 = Lohman, A2 = Cobb), while the B factor is the time of feed restriction (B0 = no feed restriction, B1 = feed restriction starts on day 8, B2 = Feed restriction starts on day 11, B3 = Feed restriction begins On day 14. There were 8 treatment combinations. Feed restriction was carried out as much as 20 percent. The measured variables were feed consumption, body weight gain, and feed conversion. The results of the analysis of variance showed that there was a significant interaction (P <0.05) between the strains different from the start of the feed restriction on feed consumption and body weight gain, while the feed conversion variable did not show a significant interaction (P> 0.05) .Tukey's test results showed that the feed consumption in the combination of Lohman strain treatment with limitation time of 11 days (98.95) is not significantly different (P> 0.05) with the combination of A1B0 (97.52), A2B3 (91.34), but A2B0 (95.36) is significantly different (P <0.05) is higher with all combinations treatment. The results of the analysis of variance showed that there was a significant interaction (P <0.05) between factor A and factor B. The results of the Tukey test showed that the treatment of A1B2 (54.63) was not significantly different (P> 0.05) with A1B1 (51, 70), thus with treatment A2B0 (48.13), treatment A1B0 (49.93) with A2B1 (49.13), A2B3 (49.12), A2B0 (48.13) and A2B2 (47.21) . Lohman strain broiler and 20% restriction with restriction time starting on the eleventh day gave the best performance response. Keywords: Strain, feed restriction, time limitation

Abstract

THE EFFECT OF CUTTING AGES AND LEVEL OF ORGANIC FERTILIZER ON VEGETATIVE GROWTH OF BRACHIARIA HUMIDICOLA (Case Study At Agrostology Laboratory Faculty Of Animal ScienceSam Ratulangi UniversityManado)Brachiaria humidicola is a forages as animal feed. Defolation is a proces which is apart of vegetative removed by human or by grazing animals. Brahum is one of perenial species has stolon and has a good  ground cover. From agrostology point of view Brahum needs a good agronomic management and it is not as weeds species.     The aim of this experiment to asses the effect of defolition and level of organic fertilizer on vegetative growth of Brahum Treatments consist of ages of cutting of 30 day and 40 day after triming, and level of organic fertilizer of P1=0 gr; P2=400 gr; P3=800 gr; P4=1200 gr/polybag. Variable measured was the number of stolon, long of stolon and number of tiller. Treatment was arranged factorial 2x4 based on completly randomized design (RAL) with 4 replication.     The results of this research show that the interaction of treatments significandtly effected on all variabel measured, and the best result found at interaction between cutting ages 40 day and level of organic fertilizer 400 gr/polybag. Based on this result it could be concluded that do get the best performance of Brahum need to cut at 40 days regrowth and dosis of organic fertilizer by 400 gr/polybag. Keywords : Age of cutting, organic fertilizer, Vegetative growth, Brahum

Abstract

EFFECT OF TURNING  FREQUENCY AND EGG POSITION ON HATCHABILITY OF CHICKEN EGGS (Gallus gallus Domesticus). This study aimed to determine effect of turning frequency and egg position on the hatching ability of chicken eggs. Study was conducted using 162 eggs of local hens inserted into hatching machine withcapacity of 300 eggs and implemented for 24 days. The experimental design of the completely factorial randomized design was applied consisting of 9 treatments and 3 replications. The two treatment factors were turning frequency consisted of 2 times a day, 3 times a day, 4 times a day, and egg position of 300, 600, and 900. The results of the analysis show that the effect of the turning frequency did not show a significant effect (P>0.05) on hatchability. However, egg position had a significant effect (P<0.5) on hatchability. There was no interaction between turning frequency and egg position againt hatchability and mortality. The conclusion of this research was the turning frequency of 2 times  a day with egg slope position of 300 produced high hatchability and low level of mortality. Keywords : Egg turning frequency and position, hatchability, local hen.

Abstract

ABSTRACT FINANCIAL ANALYSIS OF DAIRY CATTLE FARM IN TOMOHON CITY (CASE STUDY AT THE RAMULU SANGKOR FARMER GROUP). Study was conducted to analyze feasibility of the Ramulu Sangkor farmer group in Tomohon city. Study was implemented using survey method in the case study of the farm. Data were taken directly to thefarmer as primary data and taken from related institution as secondary data. Survey was done for March to April 2015. Data were analyzed using infestation criteria analysis including NPV, BC Ratio, IRR, ROI and profit analysis. Results showed that total investment were IDR 721.599.633/year and total receipt were IDR 951.217.667/year, of selling milk product and biogas. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Ramulu Sangkor farmer group was feasibly operated with NPV of IDR 448,929,526.-; BC Ratio of 2.880; IRR of 50.05, ROI of 41.82 and profit value of IDR 229.618.034.- for one months.   Keywords: Dairy Cattle, Finance, Ramulu Sangkor Farmer Group

Abstract

Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan dengan tujuan untuk mengkaji bagaimana pengaruh penambahan gelatin terhadap susut masak, daya mengikat air, keempukan dan nilai pH sosis daging sapi. Bahan utama yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah daging sapi segar dan gelatin kulit sapi. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) 4 x 4 dengan perlakuan penambahan bubuk gelatin (0%, 5%, 10%, dan 15%) masing-masing perlakuan diulang sebanyak 4 kali. Variabel yang dianalisis yaitu susut masak, daya mengikat air, keempukan dan nilai pH. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan gelatin pada perlakuan R0, R1, R2 dan R3 memberikan pengaruh yang sangat nyata (P<0,01) terhadap susut masak dan keempukan, dan berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap daya mengikat air dan nilai pH. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data dan pembahasan dapat disimpulkan bahwa penambahan bubuk gelatin kulit sapi dengan level 15% pada adonan sosis sapi menghasilkan susut masak, daya mengikat air keempukan dan nilai pH yang baik.Kata kunci : Gelatin, Kulit sapi, Sosis daging sapi

Abstract

BIOCONVERSION OF BANANA PEEL Var. Raja (Musa paradisiaca) WITH Rhizopus oligosporus TO CHANGE OFDRY MATTER CONTENT, ORGANIC MATTER AND CRUDE PROTEIN. This study aims to determine the change of dry matter content, organic matter and crude protein in banana peel var. raja (Musa paradisiaca) fermented with Rhizopus oligosporus. The study was conducted for three weeks, using Completely Randomized Design (RAL) consisting of 9 treatments and each treatment was repeated 3 times. The treatment consisted of P1 (inoculum dose 0.2% and 48 hours fermentation time), P2 (inoculum dose 0.4% and 48 hours fermentation time), P3 (inoculum dose 0.6% and 48 hours fermentation time), P4 (inoculum dose 0.2% fermentation 96 hours), P5 (inoculum dose 0.4% and 96 hours fermentation time), P6 (inoculum dose 0.6% and 96 hours fermentation time), P7 (inoculum dose 0.2% and fermentation time 144 hours), P8 (inoculum dose 0.4% and fermentation time 144 hours) and P9 (inoculum dose 0.6% and fermentation time 144 hours). The results of variance indicated that the treatment of dose inoculum and fermentation time had a significant effect (P <0.05) on dry matter content, organic matter and crude protein. Based on the result of this research, it can be concluded that banana peel var. raja bioconversion (Musa paradisiaca) with Rhizopus oligosporus can increase percentage change of dry matter and crude protein but there is decrease of organic matter content. The use of 0.4% inoculum dosage and 96 hours of fermentation time (P5) could increase the percentage change of dry matter content by 6.55%, decrease the percentage change of organic matter content by 3.97% and increase the percentage change of crude protein content by 60, 91%. Keywords: Bioconversion, Banana Peel var. Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Kecamatan Kawangkoan Utara di Desa Kiawa Dua Timur Kabupaten Minahasa pada bulan Februari sampai Maret 2021. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis tentang bagaiamana kinerja penyuluh dalam meningkatkan adopsi inovasi usaha peternakan babi pada peternak di Kecamatan Kawangkoan Utara di Desa Kiawa Dua Timur.Penelitian ini berbentuk survey dan merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan kuesioner yang dibagikan kepada peternak babi. Dalam penentuan sampel digunakan metode Purpossive Sampling dengan jumlah sampel responden yang terpilih yaitu 30 orang peternak babi. Analisis yang dipakai dalam penelitian adalah metode analisis Chi-Square, serta variabel yang diukur dalam penelitian ini adalah kinerja penyuluh yaitu cara seorang penyuluh melaksanakan tugas dan perannya yang meliputi aktifitas dan prestasi kerjanya dalam kegitan penyuluhan diwilayah kerjanya. Untuk menguji variabel kinerja penyuluh terhadap peningkatan adopsi inovasi maka variabel kinerja penyuluh diukur menggunakan skala ordinal. Kemudian variabel adopsi inovasi mengacu pada melihat perubahan perilaku peternak babi yakni pengetahuan, sikap dan keterampilan. Proses penerimaan inovasi dalam adopsi ialah perubahan perilaku pada seseorang yang berupa pengetahuan maupun keterampilan dan sikap dalam menerima inovasi yang disampaikan penyuluh kepada masyarakat. Kemudian diukur menggunakan skala ordinal. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa kinerja penyuluh dalam melaksanakan tugas dan perannya, mampu memberikan perubahan terhadap adopsi inovasi sehingga terdapat peningkatan dibidang penegtahuan, sikap, keterampilan dari peternak babi.

Abstract

EEFCT OF COFFEE HUSK WASTE PRODUCT TREATED BY SIMPLE PROCESSING SUBSTITUTED WITH PART OF CORN IN RATION ON PERCENTAGE OF BROILER INTERNAL ORGAN. This study was conducted to evaluate the use of coffee husk waste product treated by simple processing substituted with part of corn in ration on percentage of broiler internal organ. Study was applied at Faculty of Animal Science, Sam Ratulangi University during 35 days. Total of 144 day old chick unsexed broilers, strain of CP 707, involving 36 experimental units of battery pens were used in this study. Each unit of pen was filled 4 birds under completely randomized design on factorial patter of 3x4. Factor A was focused on three processing treatments including coffee husk heated under sun light (A1), coffee husk immersed in the water (A2), and coffee husk boiled under water (A3). Factor B was focused on four treatments of substitution levels including ration containing corn without coffee husk substitution (B0), ration  containing corn substituted with 25% coffee husk (B1), ration  containing corn substituted with 50% coffee husk(B2), ration  containing corn substituted with 75% coffee husk (B3). Analysis of variance showed that interaction of processing treatments did not affect significantly on the percentages of lung, heart and gizzard. This study indicated that simple processing of coffee husk were not affected the percentages of broiler internal organ. The substitution levels significantly affected percentage of internal organ. Percentages of lung, heart and gizzard were 1.38-1.86%, 0.31-0.72% and 1.6-2.77%, respectively. This study showed that utilization of coffee husk waste product by above simple processing could substitute part of corn in ration of 25% producing high percentage of broiler internal organ. Keywords: Broiler, Coffee husk by product, broiler internal organ
