Abstract

px; "> <This study aims at identifying the presented local wisdom reflected through life experience of a socio-cultural system in “Seulusoh” a novel by D. Kemalawati. The method used in this study is qualitative analytic method by applying content analysis and in-depth interview. The result of the study indicates that the local wisdom enucleated inthe novel includes the celebration of holy days such as Ramadan fasting, meugang, and Eid Fitr; the value inheritance from old generation to younger generation, grandparents to grandchildren, parents/teachers to children; skills in making and serving traditionalfood such as ie bu peudah and timphan; and also belief and myths. Those local wisdom are implied as a means to preserve the traditional values, the ability in reading nature’s signs, to maintain the family pride and tradition

Abstract

This research is motivated by three things, namely 1) moral literacy which becomes an ability that needs to be considered in the 21st century, 2) moral literacy which is used to make ethical decisions, and 3) Burlian novel which is one of the literary works that reflects moral literacy. This study aims to describe the ethical decision making in the novel Burlian by Tere Liye with the study of moral literacy. This research is a qualitative descriptive type. Data collection were taken through library techniques and data analysis techniques using content analysis techniques. The results of this study indicate that ethical decision making is based on three components of moral literacy, namely ethical sensitivity, ethical reasoning, and moral imagination. The pattern of the three components of moral literacy is ethical sensitivity as a form of ethical action, whereas ethical reasoning and moral imagination are the foundation of the ethical action.

Abstract

Buton is one of Malay Kingdoms which lies in South East Sulawesi. As the time goes by, more and more people from Malay came to Buton. This was due to the strategic position of Buton as trade route in East Nusantara. Besides, this was encouraged by their intention to spread Islam. As a part of Malay Kingdom, the use of Malay language was indispensible. The script collection of ancient texts of Buton Kingdom (Abdul Mulku Zahari’s collection) indicates that Malay Language was taken as one the official languages used in the Kingdom beside Arabic and Wolio languages. From the collection it was found out that Malay (language) scripts were older than Arabic and Wolio scripts (according to its colophon). This language is also used to write scripts about religious teachings, official letters of the Kingdom, adat laws, history, genealogy, literature, traditional medicines, language teachings,and primbon.

Abstract

PHILOLOGICAL STUDY AND STUDENT EDUCATION in DHEDHASARANING WEWATEKANIPUN MANUNGSA TEXTAbstract: This research aims to reveal the steps of philology research on the Dhedhasaraning Wewatekanipun Manungsa text and reveal how the text can be used by teachers to educate students with different personalities, so learning can be more  effective. This study is qualitative research utilizing  philological approach. The data were analyzed using content analysis techniques, starting from unitization, sampling, recording data, describing data, making inferences, and analyzing data. The results of this study include manuscript inventory, manuscript description, transliteration, and editing of the Dhedhasaraning Wewatekanipun Manungsa manuscript. The study also discusses the manuscript proposes ways to educate students based on their personalities, for example, bingahan personality students are educated with an enthusiastic approach, kerasan personality students are educated in a decisive style, sedhihan personality students are educated with understanding and encouragement, while sarehan personality students are educated patiently. The Dhedhasaring Wewatakipun Manungsa text contains values that could be a guide for teachers to educate their student according to their personalities, make teaching and learning more effective, and developing students’ characters.Keywords: Philology, Dhedhasaraning Wewatekanipun Manungsa, Javanese manuscripts, EducationKAJIAN FILOLOGI DAN CARA MENDIDIK DALAM NASKAH DHEDHASARANING WEWATEKANIPUN MANUNGSAAbstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan langkah-langkah penelitian filologi terhadap naskah Dhedhasaraning Wewatekanipun Manungsa dan cara mendidik siswa supaya naskah dapat digunakan oleh guru sebagai panduan mendidik siswa yang memiliki kepribadian yang berbeda-beda sehingga dapat tercipta keefektifan belajar. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan teori filologi. Analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis isi yaitu unitisasi, sampling, mencatat data, menjabarkan data, menarik inferensi dan menganalisis. Hasil penelitian ini adalah inventarisasi naskah, deskripsi naskah, transliterasi, dan suntingan dengan aparat kritik dari naskah Dhedhasaraning Wewatekanipun Manungsa. Dalam penelitian dibahas bagaimana naskah tersebut menyebutkan cara mendidik siswa berdasarkan kepribadiannya yaitu kepribadian bingahan dididik dengan cara yang semangat, kepribadian kerasan dididik dengan cara yang tegas, kepribadian sedhihan dididik dengan pengertian dan penyemangat, dan kepribadian sarehan dididik dengan sabar. Ilmu di dalam teks Dhedhasaraning Wewatekanipun Manungsa bisa menjadi panduan guru untuk mendidik siswa sesuai dengan kepribadiannya sehingga dapat meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran menjadi lebih efektif dan membentuk karakter siswa menjadi lebih baik.Kata kunci: Filologi, Dhedhasaraning Wewatekanipun Manungsa, Manuskrip Jawa, Pendidikan siswa Permalink/DOI: dx.doi.org/10.17977/um015v48i22020p103

Abstract

This paper is to explore the depth of Barac Obama’s rhetoric in his Iowa Caucuses  Speech:  “Our  Time  for  Change  has  Come”.  Obama  displayed  his outstanding rhetorical craftmanship to drive irresistibly his power of persuasion in the  earliest  Democratic  Caucuses  in  the  whitest  state  of  Iowa  that  gave  him  a victory; thus the speech underscored the ground-breaking messages to the rest of the nation that America was ripe for an African-American President.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to figure out the effectiveness of Struk- turierte Textwiedergabe in helping students majoring in German Literature at Un- iversitas Negeri Malang improve their ability in writing the texts they read. To rec- ognize the improvement, the researcher applied classroom action research. This re- search attempted to examine and reflect on some aspects in learning process. The aspects  include  lecturer s  performance,  lecturer-student  interaction,  and  student- student interaction. The researcher found that the teaching and learning of writing using Strukturierte Textwiedergabe can enhance the quality of the learning process and the students' achievement. Each cycle indicates similar students' achievement. The lowest achievements occurred in the second cycle, while the highest occurred in the third cycle. Generally, the teaching and learning of writing using Strukturierte Textwiedergabe can be used to improve students' writing ability

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop assessment tools for teaching and learning process and products in listening skills grade X senior high school. The products of the assessments include interactive and manual covering the tools to assess the teaching and learning process and products which include a dialogue journal and questionnaire. This study was adapted from research and development model from Djaali and Puji Mulyono. Based on the result of the tryout, the assessment products are valid for both its content and construct validity, reliable, practical, applicable and attractive. Abstract

The study examined the meanings of the texts on the packaging of jamu for women and revealed its proposed ideology. As a health product, information on the design of the packaging of jamu is not only as a means to inform consumers of the product, but also as a "tool" for manufacturers to construct meaning and convey their message and ideology. By using Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis, the researchers analyzed the texts and uncovered the denotative and connotative meanings.   The findings showed that the texts on the packaging of jamu for women implies ambivalent meanings between ‘jamu’ and ‘medicine’, ‘traditional’ and ‘modern’, ‘local’ and ‘global’,   ‘empirical’   and   ‘science’,   ‘natural’   and   ‘cultural’,   ‘feminine’   and ‘masculine’. The existence of an ideology of femininity and the frequent use of medical discourses that influences the construction of the texts were evident.

Abstract

Abstract: Balinese language is divided into two dialects, namely Bali Dataran(DBD), and Bali Aga (DBA) dialect. The DBD variation happens vertically, but not in DBA. Some vocabularies in DBD that are classified into low(Tak-Alus/TA) are classified as common variants in DBA. This research aims to explore the Balinese personal pronoun variations in DBD  which  DBA in  Sembiran(DS), and Seraya Timur(DST). The results, by applying the dialectology theory and correlation method or metode padan, showed that the personal pronouns of DS and DST varied lexically and phonologically. Lexically, the personal pronoun of first person singular in DBD /(ti)tiyaŋ/(A), /(i)–caŋ/ and /yaŋ/(TA) was realized as /oke/ and /kaka/ in DS also /(b)–iba/, /uke/, and /wane/ in DST. The second person singular /ragane/(A), /cai/ /ɲai/, and /ibə/(TA) in DBD, were realized as /cai/, /ɲai/, and /ŋko/ in DS also /cai/ and /ɲai/ in DST; and the third person singular /idə/, /dane/(A) and /(i) –yə/(TA) in DBD, were realized as /ya/, in DS and DST. Abstract

SEXIST LANGUAGE IN THE SPEECH OF MOSLEM FEMALE PREACHERS (CRITICAL DISCOURSE ANALYSIS)Abstract: This study aims to find sexist language in the speech of female preachers through representation, interpretation, and forms of discrimination in the text. This study used a qualitative phenomenological research method and used critical discourse analysis by Faircloughn as supporting the data. The data shows that females speak more sexist if they talk to the same gender than a different gender. From this phenomenon, the impact on the use of vocabularies that license gender identity by using the terms marked, unmarked, and semantic derogation. There are other relationships with grammar using declarative, imperative, and interrogative sentence types in intentionality modalities; epistemic; deontic; dynamic. This relationship also discussed the uses of mentioning text in a text structures by convection of relationships, structuring, and ordering a text.Keywords: Sexist language, Gender discrimination, Representation, Gender identity, PrejudiceBAHASA SEKSIS PADA PEREMPUAN PENCERAMAH AGAMA ISLAM (ANALISIS WACANA KRITIS)Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan bahasa seksis pada tuturan perempuan penceramah melalui representasi, intepretasi, dan bentuk diskriminasi dalam analisis teks. Temuan tersebut diproses dari metode analisis wacana kritis Fairclough dengan jenis penelitian kualitatif fenomenologis. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa perempuan penceramah bertutur seksis terhadap perempuan dibandingkan laki-laki, meskipun keduanya juga sama-sama terseksiskan. Representasi tuturanya mengarah pada hubungan budaya di antara peranan suami, istri, dan mertua.Sedangkan, intepretasi keseksisannya ada pada pelemahan identitas gender baik laki-laki maupun perempuan.  Hal ini berdampak pada penggunaan kosakata yang melemahkan identitas gender dengan menggunakan istilah bertanda, tidak bertanda, dan derograsi semantik. Adapun hubungan lainnya terdapat pada tata bahasa dengan menggunakan jenis kalimat deklaratif, imperatif, dan introgatif dalam modalitas intensionalitas; epistemik; deontik; dinamik. Hubungan ini juga disertai penggunaan penyebutan pronominal di struktur teks dengan konveksi interaksi, penataan, dan pengurutan teks.Kata kunci: Bahasa seksis, Diskriminasi gender, Representasi, Identitas gender, Prasangka
