Abstract

This study aims to eksplore utilization and optimal dose of fruit punch as raw materials for nata production. This work was conducted using completely randomized design consisting of 5 treatments (333, 250, 200, 170 dan 140 g/l) with 4 replication. Each of dose fruit punch added on basal medium consisting of 100 g/l gula, 5 g/l urea and 10% starter culture of A.xylinum. Results showed dose of fruit punch have significant (P<0.05) effect on yield, firmness, carbon and nitrogen consumption and sensory characteristic. Highest yield (42,14&plusmn;0,20 g/l), firmnesss (4,24&plusmn;0.16 g/l), carbon (2,01&plusmn;0,17%) and nitrogen (0,33&plusmn;0,12%) consumption have obtained from fruit punch 333 g / l In the medium dose of fruit punch in 333 g / l (2.01 &plusmn; 0.17%). Most prefered color of nata (3,75&plusmn;0,06) was obtained from 333 g/l, neverless most prefered both of taste (3,63&plusmn;0,04) and aroma (3,37&plusmn;0,02) were obtained from 140 g/l fruit punch. This study take conclusion that fruit punch can utilize as raw material for nata with optimum dose 333 g/l. Abstract

The activity of cherry leaf (Muntingia calabura) extract as bioinsectiside on black cutworm (Agrotis ipsilon) and beet armyworm (Spodoptera exiqua) was conducted. In this work also studied effect of application of cherry leaf extract on number of leek plants (Allium porrum) doughter. Five hundred black cutworm and beet armyworm, repectively randomly divide into 4 groups and 25 head of black cutworm and beet armyworm enter into plastic jar and sprayed by 0, 2,0, 5,5, dan 7.5% cherry leaf extract in water. Mortality were abserved at 24 hours after application and number of leek plants doughter at 5 weeks with frekwensi of spray 1 times per day. Result shown that sprayed of cherry leaf extract have significat effect (P<0,05) on mortality and number of leek plants. Lethal concentration 50 of cherry leaf extract black armyworm and beet armyworm are 3,72% and 7,5%, repectively. Meanwhile, hightest number of leek plant have obtained from sprayed 7,5% cherry leaf extract concentration. Key words: cherry leaf, bioinsectiside, black cutworm , beet armyworm, leek plants.

Abstract

Frangipani sap (Plumeria acumenate.WTAit) was known to use as an antiseptic. This study aimed to prove ethyl acetate extract of frangipani sap as antibacterial Staphylococcus aureus. Frangipani sap from apical stem was extracted with chloroform and fractionated with ethyl acetate. Concentration of ethyl acetate extract (0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25%) were tested against the growth of bacteria S. aureus using plate count and diffusion agar method. The results showed concentrations of frangipani sap extract significantly (P <0.05) on the growth of S. aureus. Highest inhibitions of frangipani sap extract on growth of S. aureus have obtained at a concentration of 25%. Key words: frangipani sap, ethyl acetate, S. aureus

Abstract

The aim of this study to find optimum concentration of urea in production, firmness and sensory properties of nata. This study was conducted using a completely randomized experimental design consisting 4 levels concentrations of urea (3, 4, 5 and 6 g/ l) with 6 replication. Fermentation processes were conducted using Acetobacter xylinum in room temperature (27oC) under light condition for 10 days. The results showed that the urea concentration in substrate medium significantly (P<0.05) effect on production and firmness nata. Highest production (503.5&plusmn;72,5 g/l) and firmness (32.25&plusmn;1.48 mm/s) of nata have obtained from 4 g/l urea in medium. Neverless, panelist most prepered color of nata from 6 g/l urea. Meanwhile panelists most prepared taste and smell of nata from 4 g/l. Key words: urea, water legen, Nata, Acetobacter xylinum, production, firmness, organoleptic

Abstract

We report the supplementation of noni (Morinda citrifolia) to decrease blood sugar levels in patients with diabetes mellitus Brawijaya Hospital Surabaya, and noni problems whether supplementation is effective in reducing blood sugar levels in diabetes patients mellitus.The goal of this study was to determine the effectiveness of capsule morinda to decrease blood sugar levels in patients with Diabetes Mellitus in Brawijaya Hospital Surabaya. This type of research is to ekperimem quasi control group design with pre-test and post test. The population in this study are patients with diabetes mellitus in hospital outpatient Brawijaya. The sampling technique with a number of 60 people who were divided into 30 groups of control (can drug from a doctor) and 30 in the experimental group (can medicine from the doctor and consumption of noni capsules) .Instrumen this study is the laboratory results of random blood sugar levels with the tools glucometer ( gluko Dr). Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate (parametric test, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test z and Independent T-Test). From the results, no significant difference the difference in the results of pre-test and post-test in the control group and the experiment is p = 0.020 (<0.05), then the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted (the results are meaningful). It is concluded that supplementation of noni effective in helping to decrease blood sugar levels of patients with diabetes mellitus, it is advisable to consume noni capsules and routine checks of blood sugar levels so that the blood sugar levels under control.

Abstract

The purpose of research is produced using probiotic fermented feed that can increase: the growth rate (SGR), and feed efficiency (FCR). The research was conducted in July and November 2016. The research design used is CRD with 4 treatments and 3 replications, consisting of without given a probiotic (0%), probiotics 5%, 10% and 15% of the total feed given, for all waters treatment probiotics added to one liter every single week. Media for microbial growth added "medicinal" (white turmeric, ginger, red ginger) containing bioactive and improve immunity, pineapple source of vitamin C, sugar, bran and molasses energy sources and dairy sources of protein that are suitable for growth and multiply microbes. Parameters: SGR and FCR. Analysis of data using Anova, followed by Duncan test. The results showed probiotics in feed and aquaculture waters have a significant influence on the SGR and FCR (P <0.05). Giving 15% of probiotics produce the best catfish SGR: 3.3867 &plusmn; 0, 24440%. Giving 5% probiotics produce the best FCR 1.5733 &plusmn; 0.0987. Keywords: Probiotics, SGR, FCR, catfish

Abstract

The soap of mangkokan (Nothopanax Scuteliaium Merr) leaf extract is a soap made from extracts of leaves mangkokan (Nothopanax Scuteliaium Merr) with different concentration of mangkokan leaf extract, among others, 70%, 80% and 90%. The Purpose of this research to determine the effect of concentration of mangkokan soap on the physical properties and microbiology. Physical properties include pH and water content while Microbiology includes the inhibitation of the bacterium Staphylococcus aureus. Analysis in this reasearch using one way anova factorial design 1 x 3. The results obtained in this reasearch is the difference in concentration of mangkokan (Nothopanax Scuteliaium Merr) leaf extract significantly affect the pH value of the soap and the difference in concentration of mangkokan (Nothopanax Scuteliaium Merr) leaf extract there is no significant influence on the water content and the inhibition of bacterial. Abstract

This study aims to prove a liquid of sauerkraut in the drinking water of broilers can lower triglyceride content, cholesterol content, and abdominal fat chicken broiler. Twenty four broiler chickens aged 1 day an average of 25-35 g/ tail. Broiler chickens were randomly divided into 4 groups and repeated 6 times. Each group was given liquid of sauerkraut in drinking water with concentrations of 0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 ml/L for 35 days. The results of the study treatment sauerkraut liquid in drinking water concentration of 1.0 ml/L and 1.5 ml/L have a significant effect (P <0.05) on triglyceride content, cholesterol content, and abdominal fat of broiler chickens. Giving sauerkraut liquid on triglyceride content broiler concentration of 1.0 ml/L and 1.5 ml/L significantly (P <0.05) lower triglyceride content compared with broilers without liquid of sauerkraut. Giving liquid sauerkraut on cholesterol content of broiler concentration 1.0 ml/L and 1.5 ml/L significantly (P <0.05) lower cholesterol content compared with broilers without liquid of sauerkraut. Giving liquid of sauerkraut against abdominal fat of broilers concentration of 1.0 ml/L and 1.5 ml/ L significantly (P <0.05) lower cholesterol content compared with broilers without liquid of sauerkraut. It can be concluded that the drinking water in sauerkraut liquid for broiler chicken lower triglyceride content, cholesterol content, and abdominal fat of broiler chickens at a concentration of 1.0-1.5 ml/L respectively, still at 69.4% -79.2%, 32 , 9%, - 39.4%, and 44.7% -50.3%. The measure of sauerkraut liquid in drinking water for the purpose of reduction in triglyceride content, cholesterol content, and abdominal fat of broiler chicken meat can be used at a concentration of 1.0 to 1.5 ml/L. Abstract

Snakefish fishing continuously can reduce the number of mature stem gonad great sizenya increasingly few in number in nature will certainly affect the reduction in seed production in the waters and may even become extinct. Efforts should be made restoking with laserpuncture technology. Laserpuncture technology has been shown to accelerate the maturation of the gonads in tilapia, catfish, shrimp, crab, but has never been tried on the snakefish brood (Channa striata). The purpose of this study to obtain optimum exposure time laserpuncture at the acupoint of reproduction to increase the value of HSI and GSI snakefish (Channa striata) male parent in order to get ready for spawning. Research experiments using CRD with 5 treatments and repeated 3 times. To get the value of HSI and GSI by weighing the weight, liver weight and gonadnya. The sample used in this study snakefish brood 1 year old male with a weight range from 1100-1400 grams have never spawn. HSI and GSI value analysis using ANOVA Gen Stat program version 15. The results showed exposure at the acupoint of reproduction laserpuncture significant effect (P <0.05) increase in the value of HSI and GSI. Laserpuncture exposure time at the acupoint of reproduction for 4 seconds proved to be optimal to increase the value of HSI and GSI parent catfish than in controls. Abstract

This study aims to prove the sauerkraut liquids in the drinking water of broiler chickens to weight gain, final weight, feed consumption, feed efficiency and the amount of lactic acid bacteria intestine of broilers. A total of 24 chickens broiler DOC with an average weight of 25-35 gr/tail. Broiler chickens were randomly divided into 4 groups.. Each group was given liquids sauerkraut 0 ml/L, 0.5 ml/L, 1.0 ml/L, and 1.5 ml/L in drinking water for 35 days. The results showed the treatment liquids concentration sauerkraut 1,5 ml/L in drinking water have a significant effect (P <0,05) on body weight gain, final weight, feed intake, feed efficiency and the amount of lactic acid bacteria intestines of broiler chickens. Average of body weight gain of broilers given liquids sauerkraut 1.5 ml/L in drinking water significantly (P <0.05) higher than the weight gain of broilers concentration 0 ml/L. Average of final weight of broilers given liquids sauerkraut 1,5 ml/L in drinking water significantly (P <0.05) higher than the final weight of broilers concentration 0 ml/L. Average of consumption of broiler chicken feed given liquids sauerkraut 1,5 ml/L significantly (P <0.05) lower than the consumption of broiler chicken feed concentration of 0 ml/L. Average of FCR of broilers given liquids sauerkraut 1,5 ml/L significantly (P <0.05) lower than the FCR of broilers concentration of 0 ml/L. The average amount of lactic acid bacteria intestines of broilers given liquids sauerkraut 1.5 ml/L significantly (P <0.05) higher than the amount of lactic acid bacteria intestines of broilers concentration of 0 ml/L. On the research that use of liquids sauerkraut in drinking water 1,5 ml/L can improve feed efficiency and amount of lactic acid bacteria broiler chicken intestines of 23.5%, and 19.4%.
