Abstract

The purpose of this study discusses the distribution of Tempo Magazine during the New Order period in 1994. Methods in this study use historical methods, including: heuristic, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The results showed that the condition of the press before 1994 was an era of openness heralded by President Suharto in the introductory speech of the 46th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia on August 16, 1991, almost all mass media seemed passionate in covering or voicing facts in the community. Tempo magazine is informative and articulate presenting news of the Minister of Finance (Mar'ie Muhammad) with the Minister of Research and Technology (B.J Habibie). Conflict over the purchase of 39 former warships belonging to East Germany for USD 319 million which was severely damaged. As a result of the news, President Suharto made a strong threat to Tempo. The government issued Decree No. 123/ KEP / MENPEN / 1994 as a decree on the release of Tempo magazine. The impact of the release of Tempo magazine in 1994, emerged an act of solidarity from the womb of the press industry born the Organization of the Indonesian Journalists Alliance (AJI) on August 7, 1994.

Abstract

Kusan Hilir, Tanah Bumbu Regency, has music that is produced from the social order of the Bugis Pagatan. The existence of Islamic values and sticking to customs and culture in the community, then created Islamic nuanced music called Masukkiri. This study aims to find out how the Masukkiri art was born, when the art performance was held, and what values are contained in the traditional art of Masukkiri, the Bugis Pagatan community, Kusan Hilir District, Tanah Bumbu Regency. This study uses historical research methods which are divided into four stages, namely heuristics or collection of sources, criticism or determination of the authenticity of sources, interpretation or interpretation, and historiography as the final stage of writing. The collection of oral sources from the perpetrators and informants was carried out by the interview method, while the collection of written sources used the library method, in the form of books, articles, and journals that were relevant to the object under study. The results of this study, it is known that the emergence of the traditional art of Masukkiri was motivated by the celebration of the Birthday of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, which was packaged with Bugis rhythms and is estimated to have developed since the 20th century along with the Pagatan Kingdom. The traditional art of Masukkiri is held to accompany important events by the Bugis Pagatan community. However, in its development, Masukkiri underwent several changes that were influenced by the times and social conditions in the Bugis Pagatan community itself.

Abstract

At the beginning of the 21st century, the people of Kuala Pembuang still believed in the existence of intermediaries who gave offerings to mystical crocodiles in the midst of the rise of science and technology, one of which was health. The purpose of this study was to determine the public's view of treatment with the help of crocodiles (mystical). The initial stage of this research is data collection through literature study and field studies. Literature study is used to obtain written data in the form of books or obtain primary data directly. Furthermore, after the data is collected the data is again considered to see the validity of the source. The next stage of interpretation is to describe the sources that have been considered. Finally, the historiography part is processing the data into written form. The results showed that the treatment through the ritual of giving offerings to the crocodile care family (mystical) was carried out through several stages and the community's view of the ritual procession still believed and some did not believe in the treatment process through the procession. the ritual of giving offerings. The conclusion from the research results is that the ritual of giving offerings to crocodiles (mystical) in order to cure the disease can only be done if the sick person has blood ties with the owner of the mystical crocodile and this ritual is only done if there is a family affected by the disease and it is believed that they cannot recover. in a way obstructed through the help of a doctor. In this case, people also have different opinions in dealing with treatment through these rituals there work as fishermen.

Abstract

This study aims to provide a historical description of the development of education in Weltevreden (Nieuw Batavia) in the early 20th century. After the move from Oud Batavia to Weltevreden, it also had an impact on the development of education as a community need at that time in the new urban planning system. The method used in this study is the historical method which includes the stages of heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. Data collection techniques with literature studies of relevant sources. The historical and archaeological facts found show that there are remains that form the basis of the argument for the development of education in Weltevreden. Starting with the emergence of the Javanese medical school (STOVIA) as a pioneer in education in the health sector. Then continued with the establishment of the law school Rechtshoogeschool (RHS) until the formation of the indigenous elite who were partly members of the Volksraad.

Abstract

The simplicity and unique form of the Betang Tumbang Apat house building has its own meaning, apart from the simplicity of the building, this form directs the Dayak Siang community to individuals who do not see status or caste. This study aims to determine the meaning and characteristics of the traditional architecture of the Dayak Siang Tribe Betang House in Tumbang Apat Village, Sungai Babuat District, Murung Raya Regency. In this research, the writer uses historical method. The first step is to collect related data. The second stage is verifying data and criticizing sources of oral data and object data. Next is the interpretation or interpretation of the data, the facts that have been obtained. The last stage of historiography is writing history based on the facts that have been interpreted. The results showed that the traditional architecture of the Betang house of the Dayak Siang tribe is still preserved and it is conscious that the surrounding community also preserves the culture.

Abstract

Traditional angklung in the life of sundanese people bequeathed local wisdom that deserves to be studied amid globalization today. The study describes traditional angklung as a non-material cultural heritage in local historical learning. Learn this method of using descriptive qualitative approaches with data collection techniques using interviewing, observation, and literature studies. Research results show that angklung as a non-material World Heritage designated by UNESCO on November 16, 2010, is a tool art traditional at first as part of the ritual ceremony later keep going evolved and adapt with changing times to become art that is functional for entertainment. Traditional angklung with pentatonic tones can still be found in some indigenous villages or indigenous peoples as well as traditional angklung art groups in West Java and Banten such as Angklung Kanekes, Angklung Dogdog Lojor, Kacang Angklung, Angklung Badeng, Angklung Gubrag, and Angklung Bungko, and Angklung Dodod. Angklung is a form of non-material culture that has the potential as a source of local history whose values deserve to be passed on to the millennial generation. Values in traditional angklung such as religion, cooperation, discipline, responsibility, tolerance, and caring become the basis of character formation in harmony with the skills needed in the 21st century, namely the ability to think (critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving), the ability to cooperate (collaboration, communication), the ability to behave (feeling management), as provisions for future Millennials.

Abstract

One of the battle headquarters for the struggle at the end of the physical revolution in South Kalimantan that takes place was in Batantangan Hamlet, Batu Bini Village, Padang Batung District. The headquarters, located in Batantangan Hamlet, is a strategic place, also it is in the middle of the dense forest of the Meratus Mountains. This headquarters is also located among other areas of battle so that this place became the gate or entrance to other areas during the physical revolution battle in South Kalimantan. This study aims to find out more about the Batantangan Hamlet as the headquarters of the guerrilla battle at the end of the physical revolution in South Kalimantan and the role of the society in the activities of the guerrilla battle. The method used in this research is the historical method which consists of Heuristics, Criticism, Interpretation and Historiography. The first step is heuristics or collecting data. The data were obtained through three things, first oral sources obtained from the results of interviews done by the researchers with community leaders who experienced the period of physical revolution in Batantangan Hamlet. Second, written sources such as thesis, dissertations, journals, books and the last source is some of objects obtained by researchers during field observations. After the data was collected, the next step is criticism, both internal and external criticism. The next is interpretation and the last stage is historiography or writing of research results. The results showed that the position of Dusun Batantangan as a headquarters for guerilla fighters during the physical revolution was so important and the emotional proximity of the Dusun Batantangan society with fighters that made the society help the fighters in guerella battle

Abstract

Communities in several regions in Indonesia have used a wide variety of traditional medicines. People in one area have traditional medicines that are different from people in other areas, and this is due to the biodiversity that exists in the environment where they live. Their local wisdom triggers the emergence of various cultural products. This study aims to describe the meaning and function of Manyampir, how to structure Manyampir, and how to use the Manyampir ritual as a traditional alternative medicine. Historical research methods conducted this research. The first stage in this research is to collect resources through literature study and field studies. After collecting the data, enter the source criticism stage to see the authentic source. Then the next stage is interpretation, which is analyzing the data that has been criticized. Finally, the historiography stage presents data in written form. The results of the study note that the Bakumpai community in Lepasan Village, Bakumpai District, Barito Kuala Regency, conducted traditional alternative medicine Manyampir as one alternative treatment solution and interpreted as a multifunctional card.

Abstract

Indonesia is applying the  principle of unity and brotherhood in spite of all differences that exist in the frame of the motto Bhinneka Tunggal Ika in order to maintain the integration of the nation. However, the fact that differences are an inevitability is sometimes the main source of horizontal conflicts that occur in Indonesia. Religious moderation comes to the core when there is an understanding of extreme religion in the community that lead to disintegration. This article focuses on  providing an understanding of the importance of religious moderation through history subjects in high school. The research method used is literature studies by collecting documents or other literatures related to the title of writing.  The value of religious moderation is essentially part of the character and culture of the Indonesian nation. Internalization of the value of religious moderation through historical learning, among others, upholds the spirit of solidarity, social empathy, and equality of people despite whatever their beliefs. Understanding the value of religious moderation is relevant as a source of historical learning in order to maintain the integrity of the nation in the paradigm of national development.

Abstract

This study discusses extracurricular activities for history activists at SMA Negeri 11 Banjarmasin. The limited subject matter taught in schools about local history in history subject makes students less aware of and familiar with the history of their own area. This study aims to describe the extracurricular activities of history activists at SMA Negeri 11 Banjarmasin. In this study used qualitative methods, in obtaining informations begins with interviews, observations and documentation which are used as research sources. There are two sources of data used in this study, namely primary data sources for coaches, student members of history activists, and secondary sources in the form data of data from schools. History activists extracurricular activities were formed as a place to channel the tallents of history activitiests whi focus on the introduction and knowledge of the local history of the South Kalimantan region.
