Abstract

The Indonesian government through Pelita II (Five-Year Development) has carried out cashew cultivation projects in the eastern part of Indonesia. This project was carried out in two stages, namely in the 1970s and 1980s, which meant that the average age of cashew plants in Indonesia reached 28-38 years. This age has passed the peak production period so that without intensive care, naturally the production of cashew in Indonesia has decreased. Rejuvenation is an effort to overcome cashew plants whose production begins to decline. The condition of damaged or non-producing gardens needs to be replaced with new, better plants. After the absence of a project from the government, the community tends to use careless seeds that are unclear in their origins and this has the potential to produce plants that are not producing well. The SLAK program (field station for creative agro) from LPPM IPB invites the community to start breeding independently. This business began with the identification of cashew conditions in Salut, then counseling on nurseries and making cashew nursery demonstration plots.

Abstract

Pineapple is one of the important commodities owned by Indonesia. There are so many pineapple producing areas in Indonesia, one of which is Sipahutar District. Sipahutar is a pineapple center in North Tapanuli, North Sumatra. The program of the Agro Creative Field Station (SLAK) aims to socialize and implement pineapple cultivation Standard Operational Procedure (SOP) as an effort to overcome pests and diseases in pineapple plants. Which starts from observing diseases in the field, processing and solarizing the soil, planting, training in making Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR), fertilizing, maintaining, until harvesting. Diseases found in the field are root rot disease caused by fungi Thielaviopsis paradoxa and pineapple wilt caused by the Pineapple Mealybug Wilt-associated Virus (PMWaV). Soil treatment makes the soil healthier because of the availability of organic material for the soil that comes from the provision of manure when processing the soil. Besides that, it is also able to prevent weed growth and minimize the use of herbicides. Whereas soil solarization can increase soil temperature so that it causes disease in the soil, nematodes, and dead weed seeds; increase the activity of some beneficial microbes in the soil; improve nutrition available to plants. Soils that were given a solarization treatment were darker in color compared to soils without solarization treatment. The use of healthy seeds and soaking seeds with PGPR before planting is an effort to restore soil and plants. However, the results are not yet visible, because the plant age is only 1 week when the SLAK program is complete.

Abstract

Salut Village Kayangan Sub-District North Lombok Regency West Nusa Tenggara is one of the villages with the impact of the earthquake in 2018 which was quite badly affected. The impact caused by the earthquake included damage to infrastructure, houses, the cut off of clean flow, disruption of farming and agricultural activities. The disruption of agricultural and plantation activities caused disruption to the economic activities of the Village of Salut as a whole. The agriculture and plantation sectors are the source of income for the Salut Village community, plantation products in the form of coconuts, cocoa, cashew, coffee, corn and rice. The livestock sector is one of the supports in the farmer's business. Livestock raised by farmers are bali cows and simental cross cows, cows that are kept are cows with the purpose of maintenance as savings, the number of ownership is between two to five cows per person, the ownership of cows is influenced by the ability of farmers to provide animal feed. The food provided is in the form of grass and agricultural waste and tree legumes such as gamal. Utilization of local feed has not been used optimally especially during the rainy season, availability of feed during the rainy season is abundant while during the dry season the availability of feed is very limited, so it is necessary to process fermented feed to repeat excess feed during the rainy season. The use of tree legumes such as gamal needs to be optimized as a green concentrate feed to meet the nutritional needs of cattle.
