Abstract

The purpose of this study is to reveal: 1) The concept of repentance according to Sufism (the Sufis) and psychology; 2) The concept of mental health according to western psychology and Sufism; and 3) The relevance of repentance to mental health according to Islam. This research belongs to the type of research (library research), using descriptive qualitative methods, and western psychological theory and the concept of repentance according to the Sufis as a knife of analysis. The findings in this study are: First, repentance according to the Sufis must be carried out solely for the sake of Allah and is determined to leave sins that have been committed in the past and not to repeat them. While repentance in the psychological view is defined as a person's encouragement to always fill himself with positive things and behaviors that direct him to foster peace of mind. Second, mental health in psychology is a psychological condition of a person in adjusting himself to his problems, whether it is within himself or outside himself by showing his abilities. Meanwhile, in Sufism's view, mental health is an ability to control mental functions, so that a good adjustment will be created, between oneself, other people, the environment, the universe or with God. Third, the relevance of repentance and mental health in Islam is the result of the process of cleansing the soul, so a mentally healthy person is a person whose soul is clean. The relationship between mental health and repentance in Islam cannot be separated, because the steps to achieve health can be produced through repentance. Repentance and mental health come from religious teachings. If the two are combined well, they can form a perfect soul, in other words, they can give birth to human beings.

Abstract

There is a need to re-question the human condition today, and technology changes the history of human civilization and social development, so that the "condition" of Posthumanism and cyborgs is one of them. The vision of 'post-gender' cyborgs has sparked feminist interest in reclaiming technology as a tool of liberation, whose identity has always been biologically identical, but cyborgs view this differently. Because of cyborgs, women are able to create their own identity, and create a more ideal reality for women. This research uses qualitative methods and literature study approach. The data used in this study are primary data in the form of the work of Donna J. Haraway and secondary data in the form of books and journals related to the discussion of this research. The conclusion of this study is that women should use technology as a tool for liberation and as a "former" of non-biological identity.

Abstract

Attempts to build inter-religious harmony obtained influential obstacles within social relationship that is regularly based on never-ending ideological discourses. Every religion comes with its own basic faith and claim of truth. Even though, this claim should not normatively exclude the faith of others. In other word, religious believers could not assert their own faith to blame other different faiths. This paper argues that inter-religious harmony, especially between Islam and Christianity, is not only based on doctrinal-ideological argument but also historical evidences. This research will portray the relations between Islam and Christianity in the era of the Prophet Mohammad that could be illustrated in three periods: (1) pre-revelation, (2) the period of Mecca, and (3) the period of Medina. The paper will also explain the Islam-Christian relation model in the era of the Prophet by using historical-critics and hermeneutical-phenomenology.

Abstract

The concept of fana is a concept that developed in the third and fourth centuries hijriyah. A concept of fusion (trance) which later became an experience desired by many Sufism retainers. A Sufistic experience that must be passed and deliver Sufis at the top of the world of Sufism. with the experience that each Sufi feels so that many bring up various differences between one and another, then it also becomes a phenomenon for the fuqoha'. Abu Yazid al-Busthomi and Imam Junaid al-Baghdadi were one of the pioneers of the concept of Fana’. With a distinctly different background, between Sufi philosophy and Sunni. So the author takes the initiative and aims to combine the views between the two by examining a character who is balanced against and a character who has many adherents to this day, in order to get a good understanding and similarities or differences in the concept of Fana’'. This research uses library research, by means of qualitative analysis. As well as using primary and secondary sources. The results of this study are the concept of Fana’ must be together with the concept of Baqo’, awareness of a person's individuality has disappeared even though his physical form is still there. And to reach the peak of Fana’, the Salikin must leave the nature, character and personality as humans.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to analyze Abu al-Su'ud Al-'Imadi's exegetical manual, Irsyad al-'Aql al-Salim ila Mazaya al-Kitab al-Karim, focusing on the manual's sources of interpretation (mashdar), techniques of interpretation (manhaj), and interpretation orientation (ittijah). The mufassir's life story, his scientific discoveries, and the context of the commentary's composition are all briefly covered. This method of research is qualitative and takes a literature-based approach. From the perspective of the source, Abu al-Su'ud Al-'Imadi's commentary Irsyad al-'Aql al-Salim ila Mazaya al-Kitab al-Karim falls into the category of interpretation bi al-Ra'yi; from the perspective of the method, it employs the tahlili; and from the perspective of the orientation, it includes the lughawi. Abu al-Su'ud al-'Imadi was a scholar who lived during the Ottoman Empire's golden age, when the population enjoyed economic success, political stability, and scientific advancement. This seems to be the driving force behind Abu al-interpretation Su'ud's from a linguistic perspective. His ardor for the Arabic language and literature, which has elevated him to the level of an expert in the field, is another important factor in the linguistic focus of his interpretations (lughawi).
