Abstract

Sex education is very important for elementary school age students if it is implemented properly, but there are still many teachers and parents who are still unable to implement it. Characteristics of students who tend to be stubborn and difficult to advise will find it difficult to absorb important knowledge given by teachers and parents. If students lack knowledge about sex education, it is possible that sexual violence can occur. Sexual violence against children can occur if the child does not know at all about sex education. This study aims to describe the problems found regarding the urgency of sex education through character education at the age of elementary school children. This article uses a qualitative method with a case study approach model. Research that uses the case study method, carried out an in-depth examination of a case by using systematic methods of observing, collecting data, analyzing information, and reporting the results. The results of the study can be concluded that sex education can be applied in learning at school by providing knowledge about the function of the reproductive organs by instilling moral, ethical, and religious commitments, so as to avoid abuse of reproductive organs. If the child already understands about sex education, then it can be ascertained that the child can be protected from sexual violence.

Abstract

Through activism, community organization, and engagement in social movements, youth worldwide are becoming active actors, demonstrating their ability to influence society in times of crisis. In the context of Indonesian youth, especially those who are part of the diaspora community, attachment to fellow children of the nation is evidenced by social activism, as was the case in Malaysia during the movement control order between 2021 and 2022 through the representative body of the Indonesian Youth National Committee (BP-KNPI). Since its establishment on October 9, 2011, the Indonesian Youth National Committee (BP-KNPI), the representative body for Indonesian youth in Malaysia, has been proactive in playing its role as a second-track diplomatic force, advocating for youth and employment issues, and engaging in social activism to help Indonesian communities in Malaysia. During the pandemic period between March 2020 and December 2021, with the movement control order policy, the representative body of the Indonesian Youth National Committee (BP-KNPI) plays a role in social activism in three domains: (1) the field of employment by supporting the labour recalibration program, which repatriates illegal Indonesian workers in Malaysia (2). in the humanitarian realm by organising assistance from both internal and external parties, such as the Indonesian embassy in Kuala Lumpur; and (3). conducting second-track diplomacy to strengthen relations with the Malaysian Young Council and elements of the Malaysian government. In cyberspace, BP-KNPI Malaysia is also very active in raising solidarity and providing information related to recalibration programmes and social assistance through its members' potential as content creators and relationships with well-known media. Our research concludes that BP-KNPI Malaysia, as a youth civil society, has always been proactive in problem-solving during the pandemic through social activism in humanity, migrant workers from Indonesia, and legal literacy in cyberspace. BP-KNPI Malaysia also tactically implements the spirit of energy and harmony promoted by DPP-KNPI.

Abstract

Abstract This article discusses the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on human life, particularly in the field of education. In an effort to address the pandemic, the government has implemented Distance Learning Education (PJJ) as a relevant solution, but it has resulted in unintended consequences, including increased stress and suicide among students. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study and sociological analysis using Emile Durkheim's theory of suicide. The analysis results show that suicidal behavior among students occurs due to social symptoms, especially in facing rapid changes and social isolation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Students face greater pressure to adapt to these changes, both in their education and social environment. Therefore, appropriate and comprehensive prevention and intervention efforts need to be taken to address this problem and prevent suicide among students. Abstract

National identity is constructed by primordial, sacred, character and economic factors. Indonesia as a multi-ethnic country, the population consists of various ethnic groups and diaspora such as the Chinese, Arab and Indian diaspora. As an independent and sovereign nation, even though there are many tribes and there is also a diaspora, Indonesia's national identity can be recognized by other nations in the world, one of which is through language. The Chinese diaspora is the diaspora with the largest number in Indonesia, after becoming Indonesian citizens they also still have a Chinese national identity considering the history of their ancestors from mainland China. Then when they live in Indonesia and become Indonesian citizens, they use Indonesian as the language of social communication and have an Indonesian national identity. However, their Chinese national identity is still attached. The condition of the formation of a dual national identity in the Chinese diaspora through the use of Chinese and Indonesian languages raises the question, what is their real national identity? Then what social consequences arise as a result of the dual national identity. The purpose of this article is to understand the influence of language on the formation of dual national identity and its consequences. The research method is based on literature study and qualitative data from interviews with several Chinese diaspora families based on their life experiences when they were still in Indonesia. Abstract

This research is focused on examining sociocultural-based character education through observing the cultural backgrounds of the different students at the Riyadlul ‘Ulum Integrated High School - Tasikmalaya. The research method used is the descriptive qualitative type with the determination of informants using a purposive sampling technique. Research data were obtained from observations, interviews, and FGD (Focus Group Discussion) and analyzed using data analysis techniques from Miles and Huberman. Sociocultural-based character education emphasizes the formation of characters that are in accordance with the social values prevailing in society. This is done by introducing these values from an early age through various activities at school or in the community. In sociocultural-based character education, the formation of individual character is not something that is separate from the social and cultural environment in which the individual is located. Therefore, this approach emphasizes the importance of integrating the formation of individual character with social and cultural values that exist in society. Thus, individuals can have strong character, be rooted in a positive culture and social values, and be able to contribute to improving the quality of social life in society.
