Abstract

The government and the community need to take various mitigation measures to reduce the impact and losses caused by flooding in Kendari City. This study aims to examine flood disaster mitigation efforts implemented in Kendari City. Qualitative descriptive research was applied and analyzed using the Miles and Hubermann analysis method. The structural mitigation efforts carried out between the Kendari City Government, stakeholders, and the community include the construction of river embankments, flood retention ponds, repair of the city's drainage system, installation of river water level monitoring devices, installation of flood-prone signs, and disaster evacuation routes, as well as the construction of embankments and modifications to the house building. Non-structural mitigation includes: making disaster regulations, conducting risk assessments, threats, and flood vulnerability, mapping disaster-prone areas and flood evacuation routes, assisting in research activities or research on flood disasters, forming Disaster Preparedness Groups, making appeals, cleaning rivers and drainage channels, conducting socialization activities and disaster training to the general public and school environment, as well as disaster insurance.

Abstract

Land cover change in the watershed area in Ambon City has an impact on land degradation, water pollution, flooding and erosion. Therefore, the utilization and efficiency of land cover in the watershed area must be improved based on sustainable land cover planning.  This study aims to analyze land cover changes in the Wae Heru watershed, Ambon City in 2013, 2018, and 2023 and predict land cover in 2028.  This study used the CA-Markov method to predict land cover in 2028. The results showed that in 2013 the built-up land had an area of 74.25 ha, in 2018 an area of 79.30 ha and in 2023 an area of 88.00 ha and the results of the 2028 prediction of built-up land were 116.96 ha, this is certainly influenced by the increasing number of residents who continue to grow every year. Agricultural land, non-agricultural land and open land continue to decrease in area. The results of this prediction are very useful for the government in making policies related to sustainable spatial planning in the future.

Abstract

The topographic condition of Tidore Island, where 50% of the area is on a steep slope, makes Tidore Island prone to landslides during the rainy season. This research aims to spatially identify landslide prone areas in Tidore Island using slope morphology method. SMORPH method is conducted by identifying and classifying potential landslide areas based on slope shape and slope angle matrix. The result of this study shows that high landslide potential area is 2,569.42 ha, medium potential area is 3,296.99 ha, low potential area is 4,778.46 ha, and very low potential area is 1,126.55 ha. Among the sub-districts in Tidore Island, North Tidore has the largest presentation area of 892.48 ha. It can be concluded that areas with steep slopes and convex or concave slope shapes have higher landslide potential. The findings of this research are expected to help local government in future spatial planning efforts for landslide mitigation.

Abstract

The need for land in urban areas is influenced by economic factors that cannot be avoided. This study aims to: 1) analyze land use changes from agriculture to non-agriculture in Kedungkandang District; and 2) knowing several factors that influence it. The research method used is a quantitative method by conducting a survey in Kedungkandang District, Malang City. Quickbird imagery was used to analyze changes in land use from 2006 to 2016. The analysis results obtained by changes in land use in Kedungkandang District, indicating that the largest changes in agricultural land were located in Cemorokandang Village of 67.9 ha or the equivalent of 25.51%, the average change land use of 24.06 ha or the equivalent of 8.3% while the area that experienced the least land change was located in the Kotalama Village of 1.66 ha or the equivalent of 0.57%. While the factors that influence changes in land use in Kedungkandang District are economic factors and public interest.

Abstract

Learning outcomes are one of the problems that are often encountered in teaching and learning activities. Further analysis shows that this problem has significant implications, especially in the context of social studies classes, especially Geography subjects. Based on the problems described, the most appropriate solution is to implement the Tour Games Tournament model using the Media Quizizz platform. This research aims to determine differences in student learning outcomes with the TGT Media Quizizz learning model at SMAN 1 Suwawa Timur. This research uses a quasi-experimental method with a posttest-only control group design. The research subjects were XI IPS 1 as the experimental class and XI IPS 2 as the control class. There was a significant difference between the experimental group that applied the TGT model with Quizizz media and the control group that used the conventional approach. The results of the hypothesis test were measured at a significance level of 0.001, which was lower than the threshold of 0.05.

Abstract

The critical thinking skills of class X-1 students at SMAN 3 Malang are still lacking so they need to be improved considering the importance of these skills in the 21st century. The six indicators of critical thinking that need to be improved are focus, reason, inference, situation, clarity, and overview. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by problem solving padlets in improving students' critical thinking skills in class X-I. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) using the Kemmis & Mc. Taggart. Data on the average increase and completion of critical thinking skills were analyzed using quantitative descriptive. The research results showed that there was an increase in the percentage of students' critical thinking skills by 21.32% from 66.67% in cycle I to 87.99% in cycle II and an N-Gain of 0.64.

Abstract

The class X-2 students' passivity and dependence on the internet as a source of arguments in discussion sessions during learning result in their critical thinking skills being relatively low. This research aimed to improve student's critical thinking abilities. This type of research was classroom action research and was analyzed using a quantitative descriptive approach with the research subjects of 25 class X-2 students at SMAN 12 Kendari. The results of this research show that the pre-cycle critical thinking ability was obtained with a score of 52 in the low category; in cycle 1, the student's critical thinking ability score was 69 in the sufficient category; and in cycle 2, the score was 81 in the high category. The significant increase from the sufficient category to the high category in the second cycle stage was a result of adjustments (reflection) and continuous teacher improvement in the learning process.

Abstract

Modeling of flood-prone areas is needed to provide information as an initial step in future flood disaster mitigation efforts. This research aims to spatially analyze the level of flood vulnerability and affected settlements in the Hunimual Sub-district. The method used is Multi-Criteria Analysis (MCA) by weighting the value of each variable. The variables that influence flooding in this study consist of land elevation, slope, land cover, distance from the river, geology, and rainfall. The determination of weights and scores in this study is an expert judgment. The weighting results are then overlaid to obtain a flood vulnerability map. The results show that the level of flood vulnerability is dominated by the very low vulnerability level of 69.09%, low vulnerability of 22.50%, and high vulnerability of 8.41% of the total area of the research location. The area of settlements affected by flooding is 556.47 ha. The results of this study are expected to be used as a basis for future flood disaster mitigation efforts to minimize losses, both casualties and physical damage in Hunimual District

Abstract

Regional planning has a very crucial role in improving the quality of life of the population, advancing the agricultural sector, protecting the ecosystem, and designing infrastructure that suits the needs of local communities. However, rural communities are often ignored or less involved in the regional planning process, which can result in an imbalance between the resulting policies and actual needs on the ground. The aim of this research is to analyze the role of community participation in the regional planning process in Butu Village. This research uses descriptive methods with qualitative analysis. Instrument indicators include: 1) the existence of groups to accommodate community participation; 2) the ability of the community to be involved in the process; and 3) there are community activities to express opinions in the decision-making process. Research findings show that the Butu Village community is actively involved in the development planning process through mechanisms such as the Development Planning Conference (MUSREMBANG) with government officials.
