Abstract

Language is a vital tool for human communication. Young children use it to express their thoughts, feelings, and desires. This study aimed to enhance the language skills of Group A students at PKK Ika Karya Bhakti Kindergarten in Probolinggo through storytelling with finger puppets. Employing Classroom Action Research, the researcher sought to address the limited speaking abilities of 13 out of 17 children in pronouncing sentences and recounting personal experiences. The findings demonstrate that the finger puppet approach effectively improved the language skills of these young learners. Specifically, language skills increased from 48% before the intervention to 72.4% after Cycle I and further to 83.8% after Cycle II.  Finger puppets can be a valuable tool for helping young children develop their language skills, especially those who may struggle to express themselves verbally.

Abstract

The Merdeka Curriculum, a government-mandated educational policy, requires implementation across all educational levels, including early childhood education. Teachers play a pivotal role in its successful execution. To assess the effectiveness of this curriculum in a specific context, a descriptive quantitative study was conducted at the Pembina North Cikarang State Kindergarten. A questionnaire survey, utilizing a Likert scale, was administered to seven teachers to gather data on their perceptions of the curriculum's implementation. The results revealed that a significant majority of teachers (64%) strongly agreed with the curriculum's effectiveness, with an additional 31% agreeing. This positive feedback suggests that the Merdeka Curriculum is being well-received and implemented effectively in the studied kindergarten.

Abstract

Social-emotional development is crucial for children's well-being. Parental support, especially from fathers, can significantly contribute to positive experiences and healthy growth. This study explores the impact of a father's absence on a child's development. Through qualitative interviews with two individuals, 'B' and 'N,' who lacked paternal involvement in childhood, we found that the absence of a father can lead to significant social-emotional challenges. These include difficulty managing emotions, unresolved trauma, low self-confidence, and difficulties in social interactions. This research highlights the importance of a father's presence in a child's life for healthy development.

Abstract

Introducing piano instruments to young children can significantly enhance their cognitive and academic development. This study delves into the effectiveness of using "Buku Musikku/My Music Book," a resource created by Yuniasri Maya Aisyah, specifically designed to teach preschoolers tone notation using color codes. A qualitative research approach was employed, focusing on a music course house in Pontianak City, Indonesia. Data was gathered through participant observation, interviews, and documentation, and its validity was ensured through source triangulation. The interactive model of Miles and Huberman was used to analyze the data. The study examined how color-coded music notation on piano instruments can aid early childhood understanding of fundamental musical elements: rhythm and melody. The rhythm section utilized fruit-shaped objects to visually represent beat values, while the melody section focused on matching color codes to specific note targets. The key finding of this research is that color-coded tone notation can indeed help young pianists recognize notes more effectively, making it a valuable tool for early childhood music education.
