Abstract: The aims of the research are to 1) The effects of vocabulary mastery and reading skills on students' writing ability in the narrative text at Private Junior High Schools in Rangkasbitung. 2) The effect of vocabulary mastery towards students writing ability in the narrative text at Private Junior High Schools in Rangkasbitung. 3)  The research findings are: 1) There are any significant effects of vocabulary mastery and reading skill jointly towards students writing ability in the narrative text at Private Junior High Schools in Rangkasbitung. That is proved by sig. value = 0.000 < 0.05. and F0 = 25.833. 2) There is a significant effect of the vocabulary mastery towards students writing ability in the narrative text at Private Junior High Schools in Rangkasbitung. Abstract

The purposes of this research are (1) to find out  the learning methods towards  English speaking skills of  SMP Negeri Students in East Jakarta. 2) to find out the motivation towards English speaking skills of SMP Negeri students in East Jakarta. 3) to find out the interaction of learning methods and motivation towards English speaking skills of SMP Negeri students in East Jakarta. The method used in this study is an experiment.. By using two different classes, namely the control class and the experimental class which shows the motivation and learning outcomes of students' English speaking skills at SMP Negeri in East Jakarta. The sampling is done by random sampling technique. The number of  population is  502 students while  25 respondents as sample. The research instrument used is a questionnaire and test of English speaking skills at SMP Negeri in East Jakarta. The results showed that; 1) there is a significant effect of learning methods towards the English speaking skills of  SMP Negeri in  Jatinegara area of East Jakarta. This is evidenced by the acquisition of Sig. = 0.007 <0.05 and Fh = 8.040. 2) There is a significant influence of motivation towards English speaking skills of SMP Negeri in  Jatinegara area of East Jakarta. This is evidenced by the acquisition of Sig. = 0,000 <0.05 and Fh = 28,072. 3) There is a significant interaction effect of learning methods and motivation towards  English speaking skills of SMP Negeri in Jatinegara area of East Jakarta. This is evidenced by the acquisition of Sig. = 0.036 <0.05 and Fh = 4.662.

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to describe and interpret the use of noun phrases and adverb phrases in simple past tense sentences in the recount text made by students of SMP IT Bunayya and SMP Permata Insani in Tangerang Regency. As many as 226 students as samples. The study took 10% of the total of 25 student writings. The method of this study used description analysis to describe and interpret recount text made by students. The results of this study concluded that; 1) Student errors in using of noun phrases in writing recount text found omission error as much as 78%, misformation error as much as 9%, addition error as much as 7% and misordering error as much as 4%. 2) Student errors in using of adverb phrases in writing recount text found omission error as much as 75%, addition error as much as 11%, misformation error as much as 6%, and misordering error as much as 7%. 3) The most dominant mistake of using noun phrases and adverb phrases made in omission error with a percentage as much as 75%

Abstract

The research was to find errors in using active and passive sentences in a narrative text. The research method was descriptive analysis using qualitative data. The procedures were identifying sentences, analysing, interpreting and concluding the result of the research. The writer only emphasized on 4 types of error in analysing the data which are omission, addition, misformation and misordering. The most errors are in misformation part which the wrong form of the structure or morpheme. The results are 1) there were 94 errors only in misformation of using active sentences. 2) In using passive sentence the most error is in misformation too, 69 (47.26%) of 146 (total error), next omission 47 (32.16%), misordering 18 (12.33%) and addition 12 (8.22%). The highest error is in misformation which happened because lacks of understanding in choosing the correct verb and arranging the correct passive form. While the lowest error is in addition, it happened because students only copy the active sentences.

Abstract

The objective of the study is to identify the types of translation techniques, evaluate the translation quality and understand the influence of the translation techniques on the translation quality by subtitles in the English translation "Coco" by Lee Unkrich, by PeinAkatsuki used. The data obtained is based on the dialogues contained in the movie “COCO”. The subtitles of all dialogues in the film are analyzed based on theory. This study applies a descriptive qualitative method to evaluate data with documents as data source.. High and moderate degrees of translation accuracy are demonstrated by modulation and other approaches, but they also offer a high degree of readability and readability. The translation method used by the subtitles has a positive impact on the accuracy, acceptability and readability of Indonesian subtitles.

Abstract

The research aims to analyze the characters and moral values contained in the film "TheSound of Music" by Robert Wise. Based on the theories of character and moral values, there are four primary points to analyze: 1) There are three kinds of characters that appear in the characters in "The Sound of Music" by Robert Wise based on Russel, those are the Protagonist, the main protagonist played by Maria and the Von Trapp Family and the sisters in the monastery, the Antagonist, played by The Baroness and Herr Zeller, and Foil character played by Rolfe and Franz, 2) There are seven types of moral values that appear in "The Sound of Music" by Robert Wise based on Borba, they are respect, kindness, conscience, self-control, justice, empathy and tolerance.Keywords: content analysis; moral values; movie

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui 1) Pengaruh pandangan siswa tentang lingkungan sekolah dan kelelahan belajar secara bersama-sama terhadap prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris. 2) Pengaruh pandangan siswa tentang lingkungan sekolah terhadap prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris. 3) Pengaruh kelelahan belajar terhadap prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris.. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode survei dengan analisis korelasional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa SMK Negeri kabupaten Purwakarta Tahun Pelajaran 2017/2018 yang berjumlah 550 siswa, yang berasal dari 3 sekolah. Sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 85 siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1) Terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan pandangan siswa tentang lingkungan sekolah dan kelelahan belajar  secara bersama-sama terhadap prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris  siswa SMK Negeri Kabupaten Purwakarta. Hal tersebut dibuktikan dengan nilai Sig = 0,000 < 0,05 dan Fhitung = 29,085.  Pandangan Siswa Tentang Lingkungan Sekolah  dan Kelelahan Belajar secara bersama-sama menyumbang sebesar 41,5% terhadap peningkatan Prestasi Belajar Bahasa Inggris. 2) Terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan Pandangan Siswa Tentang Lingkungan Sekolah terhadap Prestasi Belajar Bahasa Inggris  siswa SMK Negeri Kabupaten Purwakarta. Hal tersebut dibuktikan dengan nilai Sig = 0,000 < 0,05 dan thitung = 5,314.3) Terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan Kelelahan Belajar terhadap Prestasi Belajar Bahasa Inggris  siswa SMK Negeri Kabupaten Purwakarta. Hal tersebut dibuktikan dengan nilai Sig = 0,004 < 0,05 dan thitung = -2,938.

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of the research is to find out: 1) the moral values contained in the true story of Greg Mortenson. 2) Educational values provided by Greg Mortenson. The research method used in this study is qualitative with a structural approach. The study results are: 1) The moral values in the novel Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin are caring 26.9%, friendly 15.4%, helpful 11.5%, brave 11.5%, hardworking 19.2%, and optimistic 15.4%. The most moral value in the data is caring with 7 data or 26.9%. 2) The educational values contained in the novel Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin are attitudes toward the world of education amounting to 28.6% and the struggle to establish schools 71.4%. The most data found in the struggle to establish schools amounted to 71.4%.Keywords: moral values, educational values, content analysis

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to figure out three aspects: 1) the influence of language attitude and creativity together with the skills of English speaking students; 2) Influence of language attitude towards English speaking skills; 3) Influence of creativity in the students’ speaking skills. The method used in this research is method is survey research. The population in this research is the students of the class/levels of XI SMK Negeri in Purwakarta district of West Java province, consisting of two different schools, with overall 944 students.  The results of the study concluded that: first, there is a significant influence of language attitude and creativity together with the skills of speaking English students by the acquisition of the value of Sig. 0.000 < 0.05 and Fh = 14.697. Second, there is a significant influence of speaking attitude towards English speaking skills; this is evidenced by the acquisition of the value of GIS. 0.000 < 0.05 and th = 3.765. 3). At last, there is a significant influence on the power of creativity in English speaking skills by the acquisition of the value of Sig. 0.007 < 0.05 and th = 2.746.Keywords: language attitude; speaking skills; foreign language learning; creativity.

Abstract

The aims of this research: 1. To describe in detail the implementation of Interdisciplinary learning. 2. To describe the planning of implementation, 3. To describe the process of Interdisciplinary between English and Economy , 4. To describe the assessment done 5.To describe in detail the students’ achievements as the effect for Speaking and Writing skills .The population is class X of SMA Lentera Harapan Curug. The sample is 35 and the method is descriptive research, and it is a case study. The results show: 1. The interdisciplinary implemented is multidisciplinary because it is suitable for the high school. 2.The interdisciplinary learning planning is at the beginning of the semester. 3.The implementation consists of preliminary, core, and closing activities. 4.The assessment facilitated an authentic to assess the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains.5.The implementation developed students writing and speaking skills that can be seen from the student’s achievement which is in good score.
