Journal of Educational Technology and Instruction (JETI; e-ISSN: 2963-458X) is a peer-reviewed, international academic open-access journal, and published twice a year (in March and September). JETI publishes original scientific research articles in the field of educational technology and instruction and related areas in primary education, secondary education, and higher education. It also publishes research using a variety of qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods approaches. The audience includes researchers, academicians, professionals, and practitioners from all over the world. The papers should be submitted and will be published in English. Abstract

Digital games are an interactive tool within a multimedia education system and have the potential to make learning more effective and engaging, particularly for young students. The purpose of this investigation is to learn more about game-based learning. In this study, a game-based learning environment (Kahoot) was used to improve motivation, fun, engagement, and utility for learning. The research was carried out in a university course to test the effectiveness of the proposed approach on students’ learning. A total of 72 students were purposively selected. A descriptive approach was used, and a survey was distributed to the learner. The study tool consisted of 26 items in four domains; fun, engagement, motivation, and utility for learning. The findings of the investigation revealed that fun, engagement, motivation, and utility for learning were supported by game-based learning. However, no significant differences were found based on gender, the field of study, and the academic year. Relied on the results a set of recommendations was proposed.

Abstract

Researchers conduct research in SMPIT Qurrata A’yun Ponorogo, a civilization school that combines sciences and Islamic religion with a school model that is able to integrate qouli knowledge and kauni become one unit in learning. This study uses a qualitative approach, a case study type and data collection techniques through interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis used descriptive techniques by using data reduction flow, presentation, and conclusion. The results of the study at SMP IT Quratta A’yun Ponorogo show that religious character values are internalized through religious activities and self-development through tahfidz Qur'an, and other religious activities. The steps used in internalizing religious characters in biology learning have three stages, namely: the value transformation stage, the value transaction stage, transinternalization of values. It is expected that biology teachers will always maximize their learning activities by inserting the Al-Qur'an and Hadith in the biology learning process.

Abstract

Globalization changes have an impact on several sectors, one of which is education. These changes have both positive and negative effects. The advancement of science and technology has had the most visible positive impact on globalization changes. When globalization erase local culture, it has a negative impact. This research develops a product in the form of a hand puppet drama video by integrating local wisdom. This study used ADDIE developmental model. Data were collected using interviews and questionnaires. The developed local wisdom-based hand puppet drama videos in this study were validated by three experts, namely material, language and media experts. Material validation obtained a percentage of 91,6% categorized as very proper, language validation obtained a percentage of 82,5% categorized as proper, and media expert with a percentage of 92,8% included in the category very proper Student response tests revealed scores 92,7%As a result, the findings of this study are expected to provide innovation in the form of local wisdom used in current learning, specifically in 21st Century.

Abstract

Language is one of the elements behind the development of aspects of development that occur in early childhood, as well as a tool or means to communicate with other people and the environment. To develop and stimulate children's language development, they can carry out activities such as listening, speaking, reading, and writing, as well as saying and counting number symbols with digital-era devices. This study aims to describe language skills and recognize the concept of numbers in early childhood through technology. This research method is a literature study or review with a qualitative approach that collects data or is based on scientific writing, combining research with existing literature to solve problems. Collecting library data includes reading, storing, and managing research and concluding research materials. The research results show that developing language skills and recognizing numbers in early childhood requires listening, speaking, reading and writing, and calling and counting number symbols through technology. Abstract

The present study aimed to investigate the mental representations of 5–6-year-old children about electric current. The research was qualitative in nature and was conducted using semi-directed individual interviews along three directions: An initial approach to children's mental representations regarding the presence of electric current in familiar environments, the place of its generation as well as the transport of it to houses. The findings showed that children tend to deal with the topic intuitively, mainly relying on their individual experiences. In addition, the findings revealed that despite the difficulties they face, young children have already formed some naïve mental representations about electric current. These results are part of a broader field of findings in the area of Early Childhood Education that studies the development of young children's thinking about natural phenomena and physical science concepts.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is an impact on the use of Math Journey learning media in optimizing students' collaboration skills in learning mathematics on a scale material in elementary schools. This research is a type of quasi-experimental research or commonly called quasi-experimental research. Using the One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. In this study, two variables will be measured, namely the independent variable Math Journey learning media, and the dependent variable student collaboration skills. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with a total sample taken of 25 students. The data collection instrument in this study used student collaboration skills assessment sheets. Data analysis techniques were calculated using a paired sample t-test using the SPSS 16.0 application. The results showed that the sig (2-tailed) value of 0.000 was less than 0.05. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference in student collaboration skills before and after being given treatment, namely an increase in student collaboration skills

Abstract

This study presents the results of the bibliometric analysis of 862 articles scanned using the keyword “augmented reality” in the Wos database in the category of published articles in the field of education between the years 2010-2021. The data obtained was analyzed bibliometrically in order to find out the annual distributions of the published articles; the authors publishing the highest numbers of articles on the topic; the journals publishing the highest numbers of articles; the scientific productivity of the authors over time and their citation burst scores; the countries of the corresponding authors and their the scientific productivity; the map of author collaboration networks of the countries; word cloud; and the authors' collaboration network.

Abstract

The rapid development of Science and Technology (IPTEK) in the 21st century has led to changes in curriculum, media, and technology. Good learning media can make abstract concepts to be easily understood. The 21st century learning requires ICT-based learning which requires interactive media. Teachers must ensure that learning can run well and learning objectives can be achieved. Virtual laboratories can be used in learning (VLab). VLab can be utilized in class or for self-learning. Virtual lab-based learning overcomes 21st-century learning difficulties. The virtual laboratory is an interactive medium where students can observe phenomena in order to fulfill learning objectives. The results of the study show that (1) The Language VLab at http://pgsd.fip.unesa.ac.id/page/vilab-language is feasible to use. The user response test to VLab Language shows 84.5% feasibility. The results of VLab Language dissemination have been optimal that can be seen through the enthusiasm of VLab Language visitors; (2)The results of data collection showed that 50% of students, 30% of lecturers, and 20% of professors visited the Language VLab. Students frequently visit the Language VLab. While, the title of the fairy tale book that is often read and downloaded by readers is entitled "The Country of Learning".
