Abstract

 This article aims to describe the factors that influence the modernization process that took place in the Palangki cattle market. The modernization process that takes place in the livestock market can be seen from the operational facilities, market management, and people. Data regarding this study were collected by field observations, in-depth interviews and literature studies, then analyzed using qualitative methods. This study came to the conclusion that the modernization that occurred in the Palangki cattle market not only affected the economic development of the market, but also affected the people living around the livestock market. There are several factors that cause modernization to take place in the Palangki livestock market including capital, people, and location. Capital is needed to carry out development. The second is humans who are the movers or managers of the livestock market. Third is location, strategic livestock market development will certainly affect market development, ease of access to livestock markets is something that must be taken into account before carrying out development. This paper is intended to describe how modernization occurs in the livestock market and the factors that influence it.Keywords: cattle market, palangki, modernization

Abstract

This paper is the result of research that aims to describe the global community's perception of the handling and prevention of Covid-19 in Indonesia regarding their plans and decisions to travel and visit Indonesia. Using a qualitative descriptive method approach, data were collected using a questionnaire on the Google Form® platform, distributed to informants in various countries using social media. After WHO (March 2020) declared a pandemic, it also had a tremendous impact on the tourism sector due to travel restrictions between countries and regions. The results of the study show that information from various sources shapes the perception of the global community about the handling and prevention of Covid-19 in Indonesia is bad. This affects the decision to travel and visit tourism to Indonesia. Informants are more concerned with physical comfort and health, related to these decisions during the pandemic. In conclusion, information from trusted sources or hoaxes will affect the global community's perception of the handling and prevention of Covid-19 in Indonesia, as well as interest and decisions to travel and visit Indonesia.

Abstract

The impact of food and the use of nutrients consumed by a person that affects the state of a person's body is called nutritional status. Nutritional status is divided into several indicators. In 2017, UNICEF stated that there were 51 million (7.5%) under-fives experiencing wasting, 151 million (22%) under-fives experiencing stunting and 92 million (13.5%) under-fives in the world. The research was conducted using the literature study method or literature review that focuses on the results of writing related to the relationship eating parenting with nutritional status in toddlers through searching accredited journal sites such as Google Schoolar, Google, and Pubmed, in the 2017-2021 period. Based on the research that has been done, there is a relationship between eating parenting and nutritional status in toddlers.

Abstract

Konsep kampung pulo merupakan masyarakat subkultur diwilayah Jawa Barat, kebudayaan yang dipertahankan agar tidak digerus kebudayaan populer modern dan mainstream. Tetapi subkultur masyarakat kampung Pulo memiliki dikotomi, dimana kebudayaan yang dilestarikan adalah bentuk perlawanan arus atau bentuk akulturasi dimana sengaja didesain untuk mengikuti arus mainstream dengan mencoba berbeda (subkultur) dengan arus utama itu sendiri. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan observasi langsung, wawancara dan studi pustaka, penarikan kesimpulannya dengan pendekatan miles dan huberman. Kampung Pulo merupakan subkultur masyarakat modern mainstream dengan semua nilai, norma dan tradisi yang sudah ditetapkan. Aturan seperti membawa kemenyan, minyak wangi, bara api, bunga-bungaan dan serutu pada saat ziarah makam, larangan hari rabu untuk berziarah, tidak boleh membuat rumah beratap jure, tidak boleh memukul gong besar, tidak memelihara hewan besar berkaki empat seperti kambing, sapi dan kerbau. Anak perempuan harus tinggal dirumah sedangkan anak laki-laki yang sudah menikah harus keluar rumah. Kampung Pulo merupakan paradoks subkultur masyarakat dimana arus modernisasi dan globalisasi terpengaruh sehingga mendesain kampung wisata yang sengaja dibuat untuk tetap menjadi masyarakat adat sekaligus wisata. Komersialisasi sebagai dikotomi subkultur masyarakat Kampung Pulo tetapi komersialisasi juga menjadi kekuatan. Bukan karena memisahkan diri dari kebudayaan mainstream tetapi bertujuan diakui eksistensinya dalam menjaga adat, tradisi, nilai dan normanya.  The concept of Kampung Pulo is a sub-cultural community in the West Java region, a culture that is maintained so as not to be crushed by modern and mainstream popular culture. But the subculture of the Pulo village community has a dichotomy, where the culture that is preserved is a form of resistance to the flow or a form of acculturation which is deliberately designed to follow the mainstream by trying to be different (subculture) from the mainstream itself. The study used a qualitative approach with direct observation, interviews, and literature study, concluding using the Miles and Huberman approach. Kampung Pulo is a subculture of modern mainstream society with all established values, norms, and traditions. Rules such as bringing incense, perfume, coals of fire, flowers, and cigars at the time of the grave pilgrimage, prohibition on Wednesdays for pilgrimage, not allowed to build houses with Jure roofs, not allowed to beat big gongs, not keeping large four-legged animals such as goats, cows, and buffalo. Girls have to stay at home while boys who are married have to leave the house. Kampung Pulo is a subculture paradox of society where the currents of modernization and globalization are affected so that the design of a tourist village is deliberately made to remain an indigenous community as well as tourism. Commercialization is a subcultural dichotomy of the Kampung Pulo community, but commercialization is also a strength. Not because it separates itself from mainstream culture but aims to recognize its existence in maintaining its customs, traditions, values , and norms.

Abstract

Indonesia merupakan negara yang majemuk atau beraneka ragam suku, bangsa dan agamanya. Keanekaragaman suku, bangsa dan agama ini berpengaruh akan banyaknya variasi budaya. Salah satunya adat istiadat pada suku Batak di kabupaten simalungun yaitu tradisi Mandadang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan proses rangkaian tradisi Mandadang sebagai cara untuk mengeringkan atau penghangatan setelah melahirkan. Subjek dalam penelitian adalah individu, benda atau organisme yang dibutuhkan dalam pengumpulan data penelitian. Dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif, cara pengumpulan data dengan observasi partisipasi, dan wawancara mendalam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan cara melakukan mandadang dengan mendekatkan badan ibu dengan kayu bakar pada tungku masak atau api unggun berjarak 1-2 m. Masyarakat batak melakukan ini karena, beberapa wilayah yang ditempatinya memiliki suhu rendah serta banyaknya darah yang dikeluarkan menyebabkan tubuh menjadi dingin. Budaya ini dilakukan menyerupai inkubator tetapi versi zaman dulu namun lebih ekonomis serta dipercaya dapat mempercepat kesembuhan perempuan pasca melahirkan yang sudah turun temurun dipraktikkan. Mandadang dilakukan selama 1 bulan, karena perkembangan zaman berkurang menjadi 1 minggu. Indonesia is a country that is diverse or diverse in terms of ethnicity, nation and religion. This diversity of tribes, nations and religions will affect the number of cultural variations. One of the customs of the Batak tribe in Simalungun Regency is the Mandadang tradition. This study aims to describe the process of a series of mandadang traditions as a way to dry or warm up after giving birth. Subjects in the study are individuals in this case women who have performed postnatal care, objects or organisms needed in collecting research data. In this study using qualitative methods, data collection methods with participatory observation, and in-depth interviews. The results showed how to do mandadang by bringing the mother's body closer to firewood on a cooking stove or bonfire 1-2 m apart. The Batak people carry out this tradition on post-natal women to increase blood flow to all body tissues and reduce or even eliminate the sensation of pain in the body after giving birth. Due to the low geographical area, which certainly has a low temperature and the amount of blood released, the body becomes cold. This culture is carried out like an incubator but the ancient version is more economical and is believed to speed up the recovery of women after giving birth which has been practiced for generations. Mandadang is carried out for a month, because the development of the times is reduced to a week.

Abstract

Tulisan ini ingin menunjukkan dinamika kehidupan kaum muda dan aspirasi mereka dalam penentuan pekerjaan di daerah yang sudah otonom. Dari beberapa tinjauan pustaka yang telah dikumpulkan, menunjukkan bahwa kaum muda menghadapi beberapa tantangan dalam pencarian kerja di daerah otonom masing-masing. Hal ini disebabkan oleh dampak dari desentralisasi yang justru lebih memapankan elite-elite lokal yang sudah ada, serta hanya identitas etnis tertentu saja yang diuntungkan dan menjadi semakin kuat karena beriringan dengan kebijakan otonomi daerah. Hal ini berdampak pada kaum muda yang kian terpisahkan oleh kelas-kelas sosial dan segregasi etnisitas di suatu wilayah otonom. Gerakan kaum muda yang muncul di tengah ketidakdilan desentralisasi dapat menjadi refleksi atas transformasi hak kerja dan kondisi sosial-politik yang terjadi di Indonesia.  This paper expects to reveal the dynamics of youth generations and their work aspirations in deciding jobs in the regional autonomy. According to the collected data references, it shows that youths face certain challenges in search of work in respective regencies. It is due to the impacts of decentralization that it turns out to be more establishing local elites and empowering local-based ethnic identities who have more advantages ever since the autonomy policy was enacted. It surely provides impacts for the youths which have become more segregated by the social class and ethnicities in the regencies. Hence, the emergence of youth movements in the uneven decentralization can be considered as reflection of work rights transformation and changing socio-political circumstances taking place in Indonesia.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengenai perempuan dalam kuasa patriarki yang direpresentasikan dalam drama Korea Because This Is My First Life (2017). Dalam dua dekade, drama Korea (selanjutnya disebut K-drama) menjadi populer di dunia global dan merupakan pilar utama merebaknya hallyu atau budaya populer Korea. Tujuan dari penelitian ini tak lain memberi gambaran perempuan dalam kuasa patriarki dan upaya perlawanan menghadapi diskriminasi serta membebaskan diri dari oposisi biner patriarki. Teori yang digunakan melalui pendekatan Helene Cixous. Berdasarkan metode penelitian kualitatif dan analisis data berupa tayangan K-drama, diketahui bahwa K-drama ini berhasil merepresentasikan realitas masalah umum yang dihadapi oleh perempuan Korea abad 21 dalam menghadapi praktik patriarki. Adanya nilai pos feminisme yang terdapat di dalam K-drama dapat disimpulkan bahwa perempuan tidak selamanya menjadi objek dari kuasa laki-laki, namun juga mampu menjadi subjek yang bebas dalam memaknai diri mereka sebagai individu bukan dilihat dari gender mereka yaitu perempuan. Peneliti berargumentasi dalam proses mempresentasikan pada K-drama ini adanya perubahan nilai patriarki tradisional di Korea yang mana nilai patriarki biner tidak sepenuhnya cocok berdasarkan oposisi biner patriarki Helene Cixous.  This research about women in patriarchal authority represented in the Korean drama Since This Is My First Life. Within two decades, Korean dramas (afterward referred to as K-drama) became popular in the global world and were the main pillars of the spread of Korean popular culture. The purpose of this research is to provide an overview of women in the challenges of patriarchy and the struggle to face discrimination as well as the challenges themselves from the binary opposition of patriarchy. The theory used through the approach of Helene Cixous. Based on qualitative research methods and data analysis, it is known that this K-drama has succeeded in representing the reality of common problems faced by 21st century Korean women in dealing with patriarchal practices. The term post feminism contained in K-drama can get the value that women will not be objects of male power, but can also be free subjects in interpreting themselves as individuals not seen from them, by way of explanation is women. The researcher argues that in the process of presenting this K-drama there is a change in traditional patriarchal values in Korea where binary patriarchal values do not fully match based on Helene Cixous's patriarchal binary thought.

Abstract

Indonesia merupakan negara maritim yang memiliki kekayaan sumber daya alam laut. Potensi tersebut tidak membuat nelayan tradisional kaya, namun kemiskinan nelayan tradisional masih menjadi masalah utama, mereka tetap tidak bisa sejahtera. Pemerintah telah memikirkan berbagai program agar dapat meningkatkan kesejahteraan nelayan, terutama untuk keluarga  nelayan miskin. Berbagai program telah di rancang dan dilaksanakan sejak masa Presiden Soeharto sampai Presiden Jokowi, namun didapati tidak dapat meningkatkan taraf sosial ekonomi kehidupan mereka. Keluarga nelayan tradisional masih miskin di Desa Nelayan Kecamatan Medang Deras Kabupaten Batu Bara. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk membantu Pemerintah dalam penyediaan data profil sosial ekonomi keluarga nelayan tradisional. Selama ini banyak bantuan program telah diberikan, namun tidak tepat sasaran. Permasalahan tersebut disebabkan karena belum tersedianya data yang akurat di setiap Kelurahan atau desa, tempat nelayan berada. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi kinerja program yang dilakukan sebelumnya, maka diperlukan perbaikan data agar dapat menentukan pilihan peserta program dengan tepat. Responden di ambil dengan random sebanyak 129    orang diwawancarai dengan menggunakan kuesioner,  di desa Pakam, Pematang Eru, Benteng, dan Kuala Perai di Kecamatan Medang Deras Kabupaten Batubara. Kajian deskriptif dengan metode survei, dilakukan di sekitar pantai desa nelayan Kecamatan Medang Deras. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan ”Statistical Packages for the Social Science” (SPSS) versi 18.00. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk membantu  Pemerintah dalam menyediakan data profil sosial ekonomi keluarga nelayan miskin. Hasil penelitian diharapkan dapat membantu pihak Desa dalam memberikan data akurat dalam penentuan peserta program bantuan pemerintah, sehingga kinerja program pemerintah dapat tercapai.  Indonesia is a maritime country that has a wealth of marine natural resources. This potential does not make traditional fishermen rich, but the poverty of traditional fishermen is still the main problem, they still cannot prosper. The government has thought of various programs in order to improve the welfare of fishermen, especially for poor fishing families. Various programs have been designed and implemented from the time of President Soeharto to President Jokowi, but they are not found to be able to improve their socio-economic standard of life. Traditional fishing families are still poor in the Fisherman Village, Medang Deras District, Batu Bara Regency. This study aims to assist the Government in providing socio-economic profile data for traditional fishing families. So far, a lot of program assistance has been given, but it is not right on target. This problem is caused by the unavailability of accurate data in every Kelurahan or village, where the fishermen are located. Based on the results of the program performance evaluation conducted previously, it is necessary to improve the data in order to determine the choice of program participants correctly. Respondents were taken randomly as many as 129 people were interviewed using a questionnaire, in the villages of Pakam, Pematang Eru, Benteng, and Kuala Perai in the District of Medang Deras, Batubara Regency. Descriptive study using survey method, conducted around the coast of the fishing village of Medang Deras sub-district. Data were analyzed using "Statistical Packages for the Social Science" (SPSS) version 18.00. This study aims to assist the Government in providing data on the socioeconomic profile of poor fishing families. The results of the study are expected to assist the village in providing accurate data in determining the participants of the government assistance program, so that the performance of government programs can be achieved.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengargumentasikan upaya dan strategi yang dilakukan Keraton Yogyakarta dan Kadipaten Pakualaman dalam melestarikan kesenian wayang kulit di tengah tantangan arus modernisasi. Data diperoleh dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif dari hasil pengamatan, penelitian kepustakaan, dan wawancara. Tulisan ini kemudian menemukan fenomena yang menjelaskan bahwa ternyata modernisasi terhadap tradisi, tidaklah selalu bersifat oposisi. Dalam hal ini, tradisi dan modernisasi yang sering diperdebatkan dan dipandang sebagai sesuatu yang terpisahkan, ternyata dapat berjalan selaras dan memiliki keterkaitan yang luar biasa. Ide awal digitalisasi terhadap pelestarian wayang kulit ini datang dari atensi Keraton Yogyakarta dan Kadipaten Pakualaman sebagai pusat kebudayaan Jawa Mataram yang banyak menyimpan benda dan warisan budaya yang tentunya bernilai tinggi. Wayang kulit yang ribuan jumlahnya, menjadi salah satu kesenian yang ditransisikan ke dalam bentuk digital, bahkan dalam proses digitalisasi koleksi wayang kulit tersebut Keraton Yogyakarta maupun Kadipaten Pakualaman membentuk tim dokumentasi khusus. Harapannya, digitalisasi kesenian wayang kulit ini menjadi sumber informasi mengenai kebudayaan Jawa yang dapat diakses dengan mudah oleh siapapun dan dimanapun melalui internet guna merespon pesatnya perkembangan Teknologi Informasi.Kata Kunci: Wayang Kulit, Tradisi, Digitalisasi, Keraton Yogyakarta, Kadipaten Pakualaman.  This study argues for the efforts and strategies made by the Keraton Yogyakarta and the Kadipaten Pakualaman in preserving the art of wayang kulit amidst the challenges of modernization. The data in this article were obtained using qualitative methods from observations, literature research, and interviews. This paper then finds a phenomenon that explains that modernization and tradition are not always on the opposite side. In this case, tradition and modernization, which are often debated and seen as something that is inseparable, can actually go hand in hand and have an extraordinary connection. The initial idea of digitizing the preservation of wayang kulit came from the attention of the Keraton Yogyakarta and the Kadipaten Pakualaman as the center of the Mataram Javanese culture which holds many objects and high-value cultural heritage. Wayang kulit is one of the arts that has been transitioned into digital form. In the process of digitizing the wayang kulit collection, the Keraton Yogyakarta and the Kadipaten Pakualaman formed a special documentation team. The hope is that the digitization of wayang kulit art will become a source of information about Javanese culture that can be accessed easily by anyone and anywhere via the internet in order to respond to the rapid development of Information Technology.Keywords: Wayang Kulit, Tradition, Digitalization, Keraton Yogyakarta, Kadipaten Pakualaman

Abstract

Tulisan ini dibuat untuk mengetahui profil bibik Medan (bidan), memahami hubungan kerja antara majikan dengan bibik Medan (bidan) serta menganalisis relasi kuasa yang tercipta antara majikan dengan bibik Medan (bidan). Data-data dikumpulkan melalui penelitian lapangan pada lokasi penelitian di desa Bandar Khalipah, melalui wawancara kepada para pekerja rumah tangga dan dianalisa secara kualitatif. Kajian ini menyimpulkan bahwa, para bibik Medan (Bidan) tersebar  di Desa Bandar Khalipah tepatnya di dusun 1, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 dan 14 dengan rentang usia 29 sampai dengan 62 tahun. Hubungan kerja yang terjalin antara majikan dengan bibik Medan (Bidan) yang berasal dari Desa Bandar Khalipah adalah hubungan diperatas. Hubungan diperatas (dienstverhoeding) dimana pihak majikan berhak memberikan perintah-perintah yang harus ditaati oleh pihak lainnya. Ciri khas dari hubungan kerja tersebut adalah bekerja di bawah perintah orang lain dengan menerima upah. Relasi kuasa antara majikan terhadap sembilan pekerja rumah tangga “Bibik Medan” (Bidan) di Desa Bandar Khalipah, Kecamatan Percut Sei Tuan yaitu: Pertama, dari segi perlindungan hukum terhadap pekerja rumah tangga Bibik Medan (Bidan) yang belum secara yuridis diakui di Indonesia. Kedua, upah/gaji dari 9 Bibi Medan (Bidan) dibawah Upah Minimum Kabupaten/Kota (UMK). Ketiga, ada majikan yang tidak menambah upah/gaji kalau tidak  diminta oleh Bibi Medan (Bidan). Ke empat, ada juga Bibi Medan (Bidan) yang jam pulang kerja nya tidak sesuai kesepakatan namun Bibi Medan (Bidan) tidak berani mengatakan kepada majikan. Kelima, ada juga Bibi Medan (Bidan) yang mendapatkan cuti Idul Fitri hanya sehari saja. Ke enam, ada juga majikan yang memberikan banyak aturan-aturan yang tidak sesuai kesepakatan dan juga pekerjaan yang tidak sesuai kesepakatan.Kata Kunci: Relasi Kuasa, Majikan, Bidan  This paper was written to find out the profile of Medan's aunt (bidan), to understand the working relationship between the employer and Medan's aunt (bidan) and to analyze the power relationship created between the employer and Medan's aunt (bidan). The data were collected through field research at the research location in the village of Bandar Khalipah, through interviews with domestic workers and analyzed qualitatively. Based on the results of field research, it was found that "Bibik Medan" (Bidan) were scattered in Bandar Khalipah Village, to be precise, in hamlets 1, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 14 with ages ranging from 29 to 62 years. The working relationship that exists between the employer and "Bibik Medan" (Bidan) who comes from the village of Bandar Khalipah is an above level relationship. The relationship is leveled (dienstverhoeding) in which the employer has the right to give orders that must be obeyed by the other party. The distinctive feature of this work relationship is working under the orders of others by receiving wages. The power relationship between the employer and nine domestic workers "Bibik Medan" (Bidan) in Bandar Khalipah Village, Percut Sei Tuan District, namely: First, in terms of legal protection for the domestic worker "Bibik Medan" (Bidan) who has not been legally recognized in Indonesia. Second, the wages/salaries of 9 "Bibik Medan" (Bidan) are below the Regency/City Minimum Wage (UMK). Third, there are employers who do not increase their wages/salary if "Bibik Medan" (Bidan) does not ask for it. Fourth, there was also "Bibik Medan" (Bidan) whose hours were not according to the agreement but "Bibik Medan" (Bidan) did not dare to tell the employer. Fifth, there is also "Bibik Medan" (Bidan) who gets only one day of Eid leave. Sixth, there are also employers who give a lot of rules that are not in accordance with the agreement and also work that is not in accordance with the agreement.Keywords: Power Relation, Employer, Bidan
